He may have been thinking of the spell used to clean the dishes in the castle where Arthur lived, which also started with "higitus figitus," but was different from the version played in the episode.
UMM ACTUALLY!! That particular section of 'bibbity boppity boo' is the fair godmother casting the spell to make the mice into horses, the dog into a footman and I don't remember who's driving, as well as making the pumpkin coach!
They should do a game of character cognates: a matching game with two groups of pictures. One set will be characters from assorted properties with names pronounced or spelled very similarly to real world people or things. The second group is of those real world things. For example, a picture of a Kardashian and a photo of a Cardassian (from Star Trek Next Generation)
There was a NASA engineer named John Aaron who was critical in solving the Apollo 12 disaster and also aided in Apollo 13. His name also happens to be an exact homophone for Jon Arryn, the character whose death kicks off Game of Thrones.
I guess what I'm saying is that I approve of this idea wholeheartedly.
Or, like, just to be a dick, you have two planet photos and it's Tattooine and Dantooine
@@Levacque it makes me so happy to cross paths with a likeminded nerd in the comments section of an Um Actually Video. If only I had the money to pay for dropout, then I'd propose a discord run, fan-generated list of such homophones for use on a future episode :*)
I guess I won't invite Emily to Catan night then...
The look on her face when she said Spoiler Alert was perfect.
New to the show, and had a mega smile on my face with the Flight of Dragons question, it's such an awesome movie
Um, Actually, it is explained that the monster at the end of Watchmen is not, in fact, an extra dimensional being. It was a created through genetic engineering by Ozymandias. It is the government, who were unaware of the creature's origin, that called it an extra-dimensional being
Classic kneejerk response from a Nixon Whitehouse.
I thought when Arwen chants to the river that it was talking to the river itself, not actually a spell? Translated, she's literally asking for the river to aid her against the ring wraiths
Yes, I think it was mentioned in the book that that river was a bit wild in itself and that the flood could get out of control. But I think it still needed a command to flood, so that could be understood as a spell.
@@Mantaur104 yes, in the book Elrond actually holds the waters of the Brunien back so that the company could cross, and then together he, Gandalf, and Glorfindel were able to use that opportunity to turn the river against the Nazgul. Like most such moments, it's a huge spectacle of magic that is completely glossed over because Tolkien loved to keep the magic peripheral to the main action.
Did...did I have a stroke? Did I not already watch this? What is happening?!?!?
It got removed and reuploaded for some reason. I was in the middle of watching it when it got taken down
The HBOMax ad wasn't in the original upload. They must be getting sweet ad revenue to remove and reupload the vid. It also seems like they added more ad rolls.
I feel like the questions are getting a little easier, which I welcome
I feel like that’s because none of them had played before. Trapp knows he can go hard when someone like Brennan or Murph is there, but it would just be kinda rude to only throw super difficult questions for their first time on the show.
Or perhaps you, my friend, have become a bigger nerd over time?
@@Wizerdbyz !!!!!
Perhaps you're right!
God i love it when the enders series is mentioned, still yet to read the shadow saga past enders shadow (my favorite book)
I knew every single spell and it’s caster from the spelling bee section. I had an awesome childhood.
One of the most competitive games - across all three contestants - I can recall!
I really thought drop out was gonna be on hbo Max for a hot second. Wouldn’t it be cool if they worked together
Um actually the spell in Little Nemo: adventures in slumberland is both used to try to banish the nightmare King as well as attack one of his Manta ray minions that is attacking them while they're flying on the bed.
I feel like Edgar should win on the most obscure questions category.
Um Actually although the error you wanted was Ghost was still alive, Lady was not killed on screen, it was offscreen followed by a howl and a cut away to Bran
Bro, that’s hilarious because my homie did make a rap song about Merlin and used the higgitus figgitus line.
Um actually, the Fairy Godmother uses Bibbity Boppity Boo to make Cinderella’s carriage and coachmen, but actually forgets to make the dress until after the song is done and Cindy has to remind her. BOOM! Never thought I’d have one.
Calling out the comma splice. I love this, show.
Um Actually, 'Um Actually' is sponsored by Dropout TV, not HBO Max
@Bridger Hammond Well technically you are correct, but I would say that Dropout TV pays to produce the shows in the first place, so 🤷♀️
Um actually, that was specifically Arwen asking the waters for help in a way that seems to imply a prayer to either Ulmo, Valar of the water, or Ossë, a Maiar and one of his vassals. Although, it is not Arwen who is actually sending the water, cannonically in both books and movie it is her father, Elrond.
If any Tolkien scholar wants to correct me, I am more than willing to accept. I read the Silmarilion once and this is the only thing it gave me - nitpicky knowledge useless in almost any other situation.
Damn, Nick Marini could get it daily nightly and ever so rightly
As someone who was super in WoW for a couple of years, the pronunciation of Sargeras’ name killed my soul…
P.S. Nick is effing cute, and his enthusiasm on nerd stuff bumps him up to a straight 11/10. 😍🥰
"Couldnt he have drowned in the swamp of happiness at least!?" hahahaha
Don't forget the April's Fools joke that got referenced by Nodwick like a decade later; Bigby's Offensive Gesture!
12:04
As a civil engineer, I can confirm that a long road is an amazing accomplishment.
17:19 um, actually, that's the spell that makes the pumpkin carriage. The spell that makes the dress comes after.
I love how they are sponsored by HBO Max when they literally upload this show to a competing streaming service (I’m talking about Dropout, not RUclips)
Well ya know theyre all just netflixes in the end
Um actually, Mary-Kate and Ashley did have a witch movie called Double Trouble
Um Actually, the spell from the fairy godmother played here makes the pumpkin carriage, not the dress. To make the dress, at the end, she says "bibbidi-bobbidi" three times before saying "boo".
um actually, whoever nick is, i am totally in love with him.
Its wierd that I only just found out about this episode, but whatever, Im glad to see that CH is getting those sponsorship deals!
Um actually, it was Arwen calling down the raging waters of the Bruinen River to chase the Nine off the hunt.
4:09 Um actually, those are not different spells but different functions of *one* spell, Bigby's Hand. Grasping hand, Interposing hand, Forceful hand, those are all basically "abilities" that the summoned hand can use.
6:04 Um, actually Molly might be older than Arthur. Arthur was born February 6th 1950, Molly was born October 30th. Assuming they were in the same year in Hogwarts, her birth year would be 1949.
...if Arthur was born in 1950 and Molly in 1969 then clearly he is older...
@@Ramberta sorry typo, 1949 not 1969
Hat tip to Nick for subtley correcting the pronounciation of Catan but not making a big deal about it.
I would’ve ROCKED this episode. Dang!
THE SUN NEVER SETS ON THE RAT EMPIRE YES YES
Only a tory could write poverty into a world where magic can solve all problems and has no solid limitations.
I mean
Technically she’s a blairite but what’s the difference really
She did technically write in some limitations: however they’re never explained to the reader, they seem to be inconsistent and she probably didn’t actually think about them all that much.
Um Actually, all of those Bigby's hands are the same spell in 5e. It's just called Bigby's Hand, and it has 4 modes (Clenched Fist, Forceful Hand, Grasping Hand, Interposing Hand) that the caster can switch between.
Thank you for reminding me of Flight of Dragons, which I thought I dreamed/made up!!!!
I love that this series is essentially an American panel show
