I get a northern train to school everyday, and my school is in Newcastle. Occasionally I see Jamie at the barriers, and since I have a bus ticket that acts as a transfare ticket he has to scan me through. Awesome to see him in a video!
Excellent video! Nice you caught the Pride Azuma although wasn't your service! Now that doesn't happen often where an Azuma is divereted off the ECML to go via Sunderland! So great catch there!
A break from the norm, good too see Natt. with you keeping you right and getting her brownies, sounds like she is a born Ikela , I hope I spelt that correctly. Wonderful City York great for exploring...
@@robertwilloughby8050 I really meant the person who looks after brownies and girl guides here in Scotland. Your suggestion is very good though Ilkly reminds me of Bettys tea rooms and the moor.
On the coast line is the wonderfully named Seaton Carew station, which to me sounds like the name of a famous railway detective. Unfortunately "Murder on the LNER diversion train" doesn't quite work for a title.
I think LNER first class is the best going and most reasonably priced. However… those Azuma headrests are just in the wrong place for somebody 6 foot tall, like myself, and many people remove them. The hot food offer is also a moveable feast, when it’s there, it feels good with proper plates and real cutlery but twice the amount of food would be seen as a proper meal! I hear TPE on their Nova 1’s are supposed to be moving to a hot food service too at some point and not just the bacon butty if you’re lucky!!
Brilliant video Nick, it must take forever for one to name all these places on the artwork at Newcastle's first class lounge lol. York is a lovely place to visit. :)
For the last three years I haved booked myself first class on an LNER divert between Newcastle and Edinburgh via the Tyne Valley Line. It has been cancelled every time. A bit frustrating! Hartlepool was probably worthy of a special mention, as the second (southbound) platform was reinstated only a few weeks ago.
i booked an azuma service, but 6 minutes earlier there was an IC 225 that i didnt know about for the same price, and my ticket is not valid on that service :(
I’ve got idea can you do a meet and greet and I would be interested to be in one of your videos please because I love trains and I no lots about trains two
I did first class at the end of January from York to Edinburgh which was my first time on an Azuma. It was the 17.56 so I had chicken casserole, coffee, G&T etc. I had a relative who went down from Edinburgh to Darlington recently in first as well and on the way back it got very delayed and then stuck behind the Chathill stopper so he got half his money back.
Ive done first class GWR Bristol to London and sleeper club class London to Edinburgh, I drank my weight in tea on GWR as I was basically only person in first class on that train 😅
3:58 Still a student then? Back when the '90s that would be a Res 47/7 hauling a Mk4 set and its 91. The Durham coast line was renowned for every tree, lamp post and fence post havd in a bit of windblown litter attached.
Brilliant video to you three, looking forward to the next one, oooo had an idea, how about St James Park, underground to St James Park Tyne n Wear metro vi's St James Street London overground as a pointless journey?
I did LCN-LIV via London the other day because of the hope valley/ mml works. First class definitely beats a 195 to Sheffield and a cramped 3 car service to Liverpool
tbf, although LNER does call at stations in the general north eastern part of the UK, the east coast mainline does point in a slightly north western direction, which makes sense because of the orientation of britain, so while I do agree with you, looking at it this way does kinnnd of make the logo make sense?
Hi nick! I’ve been into trains for a while now and I haven’t told my parents as I find it embarrassing. I was wondering how u told ur parents and how people judged u for it, (Please reply)
I never came out to my parents as a train nerd. They will suspect it of course by the way you look at trains and how you will go out to railway-related events. David, age 65 and a half.
First class is nice but not really worth the price in my opinion. Bring your own food and drink, it’s cheaper and you can eat and drink when YOU want and not when the crew come round. The tea and coffee from the buffet car is cheaper than it is in a Costa too and the cheaper price in standard class means that over all you can have everything that First Class offers but for less. Standard Class seats aren’t great but First Class aren’t as good as this and other videos make them out to be either. Over all and in a nutshell in my experience and as I have already said above First Class is nice but not worth the price. Just my opinion, for what it’s worth. Great video tho as always Nick. Safe travels

The loud "gulp" followed by "it tastes like TV static" caught me off guard
Tastes like TV Static is a perfect description of sparkling water!! I am so going to use that in the future 😂😂😂. Great video as usual Nick!
Incredibly loud TV static. Can't stand it myself. Don't get why it's so popular.
@@zhongcena Same!! I don't understand how people like that taste
I did first class on LNER once but on a HST from London Kings Cross to Inverness on the Highland Chieftain, great video Nick.
Yay! Nice to see Natt again, and the smile of Natt with a brownie too. Another good one with lots of tea and snacks.
Don’t worry I’m in more videos to come!
Excellent video! Nice you caught the Pride Azuma although wasn't your service!

They don't call it Public TRANSport for nothing!
Excellent stuff, just a shame it wasn't a Dine on an IC225 😉
Foreshadowing 🤔😉😂

Don't you mean an Olicanian? That is the term for someone from Ilkley.😅

Idea of point to point: you should do Liverpool Street (London) - Glasgow queen street via Liverpool lime street
They are fast they get from London to Peterborough in 50 minutes 😮
So funny to see Jamie, he's my friend and his boss at Newcastle Central is my dad! 😂😂
On the coast line is the wonderfully named Seaton Carew station, which to me sounds like the name of a famous railway detective. Unfortunately "Murder on the LNER diversion train" doesn't quite work for a title.
i did that journey from Peterborough to Edinburgh on the exact same weekend on a Sunday
Have the headrests been changed to fully adjust them? I traveled up to York back last December and they had been ripped off completely.

Really excellent video. The dynamic between you and Nat is so nice to see again
Got the Manners/Manors gag, another of Geoffs Least Used Pals... you going to try catch em all Nick Pokemon style?
LNER’s gluten free chocolate brownies are super delicious 🎉
“What is LNER first class like?” Decent and North of Edinburgh - cheap. 😂
York is one of my favourite stations to visit. Plenty to see and of course the NRM. Looks like you guys had fun.
Thanks for the video. I didn't realise LNER served hot meals at weekends, or is this only if there's absolutely no engineering work?
LNER don’t do the Dine on weekends but they still do the Dish which are just like heated up meals so still technically hot
Watching from Korea and feeling extremely jealous because I love the coastal route and would kill to experience it on LNER
The odds of us posting a first class review within an hour of each other 😂😂
I love your channel mate your the best ever RUclipsr ever
Thanks!

Very rare I spring for first class so when I do, make sure to absolutely take as much advantage as possible

Great video, Jamie is a natural!
Nice Video On LNER First Class I've Also Done LNER First Class Before On The Class 91s aka The InterCity 225 Set's From London To York 👍

Great vlog Nick. I’ve never done LNER first class before maybe I should try it at some point!
nice nick im off on first class on LNER too on march 23 7;47 am from doncaster
Have fun!
BERWICK VIADUCT - Royal Border Bridge ( a viaduct ...pmsl)
I'd love to get ANY train that has an All-Day Breakfast menu..... Double Sausage, Hash brown, Fried Egg and Beans....Lovely greasy stuff!!!
We need this service on SailRail between Hull, Leeds, Manchester Victoria and Holyhead
I did LCN-LIV via London the other day because of the hope valley/ mml works. First class definitely beats a 195 to Sheffield and a cramped 3 car service to Liverpool
Pointless journeys idea
Canterbury east to Canterbury west
You could say it was....a cracking experience....
I'll get my coat....
Fantastic video nick. Great meeting you at NNG on Wednesday evening. Hope you got to the pub after. 😂
I do like LNER First Class
Looked great thanks for posting
I wonder how many biscuits could you take from the first class lounge to cover the cost of the first class ticket?
Can you do a pointless journey from Leeds to York?
That cuppa hurt my soul, but you got a sub out of it.
Good video Nick, nice to see Jess. So where else were you off to- or is that next video due out ?
Great Video, nice shot of the Pride Azuma, i haven’t actually been on LNER.
First Class anyone?
You certainly get around, Nick, you were in France a day or so ago! (Moreton to Moreton, I think!)
The LNER logo bugs the hell out of me - The emphasised N points NORTH WEST!!!

We spent around £15 each one way for the first class ticket, got it at a bargain!

Pot Noodle for students usually? So free food 🎉
😊
I Already did a short on LNER first class
Why don’t you make a short out of it
Good video as usual
The first class on the HS125 was better. Seat more comfortable and food better.
I’m 6’6”. These lner seats are crippling!
That has to be the worst first class lounge I have seen, no complimentary meals or alcohol?
