The £15 quid taxi was probably from Markinch or Kirkcaldy stations, it's around £90 to £100 to Edinburgh.
You have such a nice community in the UK, where you meet the same people on such events every time and have a good time together. Here in Germany the railfan scene is - let me politely say - "very nerdy with a lot of class and operator related religion"
A nerdy fact I know about German railways....
_Kassel Hauptbahnhof_ ("Kassel main station") is not Kassel's Hauptbahnhof (main station).
@@lewis72 Correct, but that is basically the same in several places in the UK. The more important Kassel Wilhelmshöhe station would in Britain be "Kassel Parkway"

I might be wrong but I don't think that Parkway stations in the UK are the main station.
The difference being that Kassel Hauptbahnhof was the Hauptbahnhof but isn't anymore but has kept the name. i.e. it no longer has the long-distance services. Perhaps should be renamed Mitte. (as in Vienna, which has Mitte "central" and now Hauptbahnhof)
@@lewis72 I grew up 50 km from Kassel, don't tell me what is going on there 😁 Parkway stations are usually built at the outskirts of a city or even completely outside, while the traditional station often is also reduced as a regional stop - or closed altogether. Only thing is that Wilhelmshöhe was not built completely new but replaced a small halt.

Hi Nick - I'm a conductor instructor who trained a fair portion of the conductors based at the new train crew depot in Leven. Great to see you enjoying the newest addition to our network!
Would've been great to have bumped into you, but sadly I didn't actually work a train (in passenger service) into Leven myself until yesterday.

We'd got the last bus from Dundee and had been up in Leven since about 00:30.
What a coincidence, just yesterday I was visiting the leven fife heritage railway where the lovely people there took me and my dad for a short ride on their small track that runs parallel to the newly built one.
I absolutely recommend visiting them, they are really dedicated to their work there.
Been waiting for the video just to hear the Leven puns! 😂 Leven know they were Badley Puns 😂 just kidding honestly It was one of the best weekends I ever had in Scotland and good to see you again Nick, Natt, Will and everyone

Riku and Nick being two of my favourate and adorable transport youtubers, I wish you both included around 45 seconds of you two talking together in both of your respective videos visiting Leven Link.
The "£15 taxi" that the lady referred to, wasn't to Edinburgh by the way. It was a £15 taxi just to Glenrothes station, to then pay around £20 to get the Fife trains to Edinburgh. So around £35 to get into Edinburgh. The new rail link is around £10.40 so a great saving.

Perfect sun and perfect scenery.
In Leven there was a carnival atmosphere in the main street with stalls. There was a stage with a banner saying Levenmouth Rail Link and a mocked up ticket saying 'From all stations to Leven'. A cover band were covering Stereophonics' Dakota as I got there. It was a good cover too. It's one of Stereophonics' best, but included the line 'I don't know where we are going now' which cracked me up. Not only did I have a return ticket, but there was a jolly nice Farmfoods beside the station so I knew exactly where I was off too.
I love the energy of the three musketeers all together! You three are great
I’m very pleased that ScotRail is now operating a new service to Leven. Nice to see the Levenmouth Rail Link now back in service and Cameron Bridge & Leven stations now officially reopened.

Watch out for the Camp Hill line in Birmingham which will have 3 newly reopened stations (Moseley, Kings Heath and Pineapple Road)

I believe the rule is they have to build new stations on the LEVEL, no hill starts
I thought the same thing about curved platforms to, but Tottenham Court Road station on the Liz Line also has it, so it seems not the case.

Hey nick, since you did the highest Northern station in the country to the lowest northern station; you should do the highest GWR station in the country to the lowest (Worcester Foregate Street to Penzance) if you can. Good luck!
If you want to know how to do it, here is the plan:
You take a West Midlands Railway train from Worcester Foregate Street to Hereford.
Then, you take a TFW service to Newport (South Wales).
Then finally, you take a GWR to Penzance
If you want to do it with just GWR services, you:
Take a GWR train to Reading then finally take another GWR to Penzance
Best part was the interview with Jen where Nick is less BBC and more natural
