Badley in Badley is a moment for the ages
Worth it :)
@@NickBadley yh
I think it was worth it, gotta love Nick Badley yk
And he didn't do it at all Badley, either!
As someone who lives around here and goes to Ipswich and Needham Market stations very often it's a relief that you enjoy our trains (and towns!)
We live in Ipswich and go on Greater Anglia trains a lot. My 4 year old loves watching your videos and is loving seeing places he recognises 😊 We’re going on the steam trains at Sheringham next week 🚂
So thank you for doing this video. The only thing that would’ve made better for him is is Nat had joined you (and you’d gone to Ipswich) 🤣
I would have loved to have joined him however I was busy with Uni work that day, Although I have been to Cromer before by train to see a friend so it wouldn't have been my first time on the GA trains
Enjoy the steam trains!
Interestingly those 745 reservation screens are actually never used as Greater Anglia don’t offer seat reservations! Perhaps they will at some point in the future.
I literally laughed so loud my cat ran out the room at badley in badley. 10/10
As a northerner, when you get to the flirts they are such a breath of fresh air from a 150 to a 755. Even my mum who doesnt care about trains appreciates them😂
Personally the 150s and 156s are some of my favourite trains. The look of them as well just sparks something inside of me
@@Shipnerd194and the 755 is a newer model so it would be a breath of fresh air since it’s cool and modern
Great video! Glad you like the lovely Flirty 755s! Got to love the front seat on the top deck of a bus. Did you get to see the goats on the cliffs at Cromer? (They may have been packed off to warmer pastures by October but there was a rebellious one that couldn't be caught and stayed on the cliffs all last winter instead 😂)
Didn't see any goats when I went, unfortunately! But the FLIRTs definitely didn't disappoint!
@NickBadley Ah they must've been able to round them all up for the winter this year! Glad my favourites didn't disappoint!
Day Rovers are great, I remember my youth group doing a "Day Rover" challenge when I was younger, went all over Yorkshire on Trains (I think a pacer or 2 was involved). Very enjoyable. I'd love to see some of them Flirt up North, could you imagine the quality improvement on some lines with them. Also you didn't mention the flirts level boarding (or very close for Mainline Rail in UK), no massive step up!!
I've watched many of your films and this is one of the best. You remind me of when I was your age, many years ago - hopping off a train somehwere and "doing" the town in under an hour. You still excite the element of suprise in that you take things as they come, without endless pre-planning on your phone. My mum was from East Anglia and I visit regularly, I too love the new trains. You're a gem, young man, and keep it up.
Me and Dylan have actually been to Badley before as well! Also, good to see you actually thank the bus driver! ~ Daniel
Thanking the bus driver is a northern thing. I'm a northerner living in Scotland and I always thank bus drivers and taxi drivers, and supermarket check-out staff btw. Why wouldn't you?
My grandma always takes me on an anglia plus day ranger trip every time I come to visit her it’s one of my favourite memories
“Oh wow. Look at Diss” really made me giggle.
Same
I thought he was taking the Piss.
15:28 Ooooh ex-Reading Buses Scania Omnidekka, one approves very much
As an NNR volunteer I would love to see you come back and try our line. Glad you enjoyed your tour around my home region.
Gotta say the interior of those EMR 158's are a little bit different to Northern with what I'm familiar with including the layout of the lighting.
Those new Greater Anglia services look really nice inside too! Funny how part of that train is just a small walkway!
I love day rangers and also the rover tickets as well. They're so incredibly handy for exploring areas
the Wetherspoons in Bury St Edmunds is the old Town Hall. check out the one at March both are stunning
Yes! Please! Sheringham pointless journey! With a heritage line!
Nick in my home town! Quite impressed by how far you were able to walk in 25 mins in Bury St Edmunds!
So happy you get to explore east anglia . One of my fav areas of England . If you ever need a tour guide for Norwich be happy to show you around .
When are you coming down to South West Trains area and in particular the western parts of the network and not metro territory and enjoy our single line working?
You could have waved at us in the Netherlands, leaning a little forward. 😁
Can't believe you missed the east Suffolk and wherry lines
Nice to see you flirting around East Anglia, I hope you enjoyed it.
How do you edit the map of all the railways in the UK to show which ones you have been on?
Good video. First time your super close to me because I’m in Cambridge:)
The length of train isn't determined by the service type. It's determined by whether or not it goes to London :(
Probably because London is a city of 10 million people and where the majority of the UK’s economy is… idk why its a sad face moment. It’s literally just supply and demand
@@Nooticus Because demand isn't being met outside of London services. Just look at the overcrowding on XC and TPE.
@@mattevans4377 thats true in some cases like XC and TPE. for sure. but on the whole, the reason why trains to london are longer is because more capacity is needed, not because there is a bias towards london.
Arghhhh so cool you came and tried our trains!! We are very lucky to have such good stock… only slightly blighted by the EMR 158s to Liverpool…
Looks like you had a good day. If you ever come down to Essex, let me know, I have a pointless journey for you
Pointless journey???😂😂😂... What's the point of that if it's pointless???😂😂😂😂😂😂
You would publish this a few days before I do a day rover journey around my local area. Hopefully, the trains will not be delayed or cancelled on Monday.
Excellent video of you "Flirting" around East Anglia. I didn't realise you have a village named after you
i really enjoyed watching the Greater Anglia plus day ranger ticket sounds like a great day ranger to do i like doing day rangers i do mostly when im on holiday & the best thing is it can take you to some interesting places & i like the Flirts ive been on the 745s but around London but id love to ride a 755 & totally agree with you about bus journeys as i like doing bus journeys aswell as train journeys & its even bettter when i get a double decker as you can sit at the front & you get awesome views brilliant vlog
As someone who lives just outside bury st Edmunds and works in bury. It s nice you love the town
Greater Anglia does have the best trains but I do wish that they would have kept the Class 379 Electrostars. But overall the Class 755 trains are very nice. Even the Class 745 and Class 720 are very nice as well.
Great video, nice to see Nick visit Badley 😂
Welcome to my home.
Home of the Flirts.
Ever wanna do a East Anglia tour I'm here!
Been about all of my home county. 👍
1:51 these trains compare well to Irish Rail’s current offerings on Dublin Connolly to Rosslare, Dublin Connolly to Sligo and Dublin Hueston to Galway, Westport & Ballina (change at Athlone) - the best thing about Irish Rail’s onboard announcements is that they give place names in my native Irish Gaelic 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
Looks like you had fun Nick.
You should make a video with the North Downs Line day Ranger.
Lovely Video, Next time you come to the greater anglia region, come and explore the east suffolk line, full of history from Lowestoft and Beccles at one end to Ipswich at the other
The 775,s are good being from east anglia myself even though ive only been to a small part.
Yeah East Anglia can be quite isolated. From Essex so get trains into London on the mainline and also cross through the area to get from Ipswich to Peterborough, it really is a nice view
You know great Anglia I'll go around in a big circle I do all the routes in one day
Yep, liked that Nick. Looked like a day well spent.
I have been on the Class 755 when it came into service few years ago and I actually quite like them. I also been on the Class 745 and Class 720.
I used to live in East Anglia (specifically Saffron Walden in the weird 'de-facto Cambridgeshire' part of Essex) and get 317s to London Liverpool Street from Audley End every other month. Got a good idea for a point-to-point: Bury (Greater Manchester) to Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk) although it will involve a short Metrolink to Manchester Piccadilly first.
Brilliant video Nick, the FLIRTS are really nice trains, the only GA ones I've been on so far are the 755's. Nice to see you also visited Badley. :)
I like how much you amuse yourself
If you’re hoping to get “more variety” in East Anglia, you’ll be sorely disappointed - Greater Anglia have a near-monopoly on both the WAML (West Anglia Main Line, which runs up from London to Cambridge) and the GEML (Great Eastern Rail Line, which runs from London up to Norwich). I could be wrong, but they use Flirt trainsets these days (or at least, the trainsets I’ve come across have level access from platform to train, which for someone using a white cane with a rollerball tip is very useful)
Amazing video. You truly have such a positively infectious energy! Loved it
Do a pointless journey for Cambridge to Cambridge north
Welcome to our part of the world! Before Flirts, I took an Anglia Plus and travelled the whole possible network (seemingly following the Flying Scotsman..) (video on my channel, but not as good as yours ;) )
I was worried you weren’t going to thank the bus driver for some reason
Love the idea of going to a place with your name on a sign. Looks like a fun day
Great video and the GWR units have been transferred from them to Great Northern
need to have some double decker buses here first. :(
You must do the North Norfolk Railway it’s brilliant. There are a good few heritage railways and narrow gauge railways around Norfolk, all worth seeing and riding on. Also, there are some really posh buses too particularly the one that goes through Walsingham. Nearer to home you should do the Northern Day Rangers when they do them for £10 with three tokens from a local newspaper. They normally do the offer twice a year. I’ve gone exploring that many times with them I’ve nothing left to explore 😂
in Windermere and Bowness we have the Badley clock tower(spoilers) its not very big
great! 8:27 😂😂😂!
Nick you’re adorable, I love your enthusiasm. I live in Ely and work in Bury St Eds so weird to see both on your videos.
Had the best Lamb Bhuna of my life in Cromer!
For power car insert Thrash Pod !!! lol
"Ding the button. Nice."
i live in braintree. happy you came to our railway for the day
I wish you did come to Ipswich I might see you on Ipswich station you never know
Its not that surprising that you hadn't visited east anglia before now- there are only a couple of entry points to the region by rail at present (being Peterborough and London)
I know what you mean - my mum's from Lowestoft which is almost an island thanks to the rivers Yare and Waveney. The promised new bridges and road improvements never seem to happen.
I have a extended life tip on crowded platforms don't stand near the edge
Like i have a question about the new trains in greta britain are they tryna combine the interior to like of a more spacious airplane feel with the smooth and fast running of a somewhat bullet train because i’ve noticed in most train videos that seems to be the case
When Nick Badley has a new video😊
😂😂😂
I enjoy watching your videos but you need to make them longer, as soon as I get into them they end lol
This was actually my longest video yet 😆
@@NickBadley needs to be longer lol
Great video, thank you Nick.
You should go to berney arms
I live on East coast and have been on both Flirts and 745's are much better. You much come back and do a pointless journey from Oulton Broad North to Oulton Broad South but not via Lowestoft ! Check it out route sometime would be a good one
Loved this video Nick
nick you forgot to vist one of the most historical and the most used station in eastern England, Cambridge station, I love that you enjoy the flirts, I think they are amazing too
Happy holidays
I saw your ticket and you recorded this on my birthday! 27-OCT-23!!
Happy very very very late birthday 🤣
EMR as it's best: cancelled or delayed, usually busy, and 2 car service...
Is same owner, which lead Northern Trains to collapse. So goverment must take control over it.
EMR following same patch.
Avoid if possible...
170's are in trail for this route - hopefully 3 cars set we will see here...
Nice Video Greater Anglias New Trains Are Nice 👍
The only experience I have train travelling in East Anglia was Liverpool St to Norwich and then a couple of days later Norwich to Manchester (this was 2017, sadly no idea about units) don’t recommend the latter.
Peterborough is my home station
Can’t wait to watch this banger!
I miss the 24, 25 and 37 days - not sure if they where running MK1 or MK2 coaches
I get the great Anglia Ranger every 2 weeks and have you heard of 3 and 7 Ranger you pay for 2 days and then you get a day free
Hi Nick - what’s your best tips for going SailRail from Manchester to Holyhead for the ferry to Dublin (mainly operated by Transport for Wales) and how do I save money on tickets? It drives me mad that most of the trains run from Platform 13 at Manchester Piccadilly, a big pain if coming from Shudehill, Market St Metrolink and getting tickets and information, up all those escalators and travelators with a heavy suitcase, the trains are always tiny and packed, they don’t call at Deansgate/Castlefield (for the Metrolink Trams), they have very few direct trains to Holyhead, requiring a change at Crewe, Chester or Lladnuo, with not much time allotted to change trains - It’s got worse in the 21 years I’ve been doing this from where I live in Manchester and have extended family in Rural Ireland, where the trains on Irish Rail are way better by comparison
I live in Ely ❤
I live in Cambridge
As someone who used to use anglia trains I can say the older ones were better
I miss the 379s
FLIRT is much better than the Aventra on the same network. 2 + 2 Seating is far better for a mid distance commuter train as opposed to 3 + 2 on the Aventra
you should do this in kent. on the chatham mainline (Ramsgate and Dover Branch)
Every station from faversham to dover priory would be good
Woah, fellow GD player on a nick badley video? Small world huh.
@@h0pidol825 nah, Faversham to Ramsgate would be better, and then the 5 stations of Sandwich, Deal, Walmer, and Martin mill
I really want to head to greater anglia again! It's a really good area of the UK!
(also, if you wanna do a ranger up north, give me a shout 😉)
Nick, Please can you do every TFW Cardiff Valley Line?
When Nick Badley does a video you never get a "badly" done video....... sorry I will get behind the sofa lol .....
I ride this line
Have you done Blackpool before, ?
Great video!
What!? You've never been on the Cumbrian Coast!
Ha, someone who's basically still a child saying "I used to come here a lot in my younger years". Classic. And no offence meant - your videos are very professional and far better than wrinkly-old-I could manage.
Do you play a video game often referred to as TPF? Rail based
