Great video. One question though. I have all three GL omnis by Geoff Johns. I'm currently reading through vol 1. Do I need to get the Blackest Night omnibus or can I just read through vol 2 of GL and get the main story without the tie ins.
You really can get away with just the core GL set, but the event omni does flesh things out and give you a great snapshot of the DC universe at that time.

Hey mate, for a great reading experience you do need to read the earlier part of Geoff Johns' Green Lantern run prior to Blackest Night. So basically the first two of the three omnis, however there's a bit of double dipping between Green Lantern omni 2 and this one. If you're a completionist and don't want to miss anything you should also probably read the Tomasi and Gleason Green Lantern Corps series also that was running concurrently with the Johns Green Lantern title. There's no omni or collected editions for this though aside from the original trades, so it can be really hard to find. For full disclosure's sake, I haven't read the GLC issues prior to Blackest Night and I didn't have any problem with it. The really crucial issues were included in the Geoff Johns Green Lantern omnis.

Do you strongly recommend getting those 3 massive GL omnibus volumes or a is it lot of double dipping?? 2) is the new Rebirth Hal Jordan & green lantern corps run good enogh compared to Geoff John's? Thx!!!!

Brightest Day is basically independent from the GL omnis, I think there's only one or two issues that double dip there. I do suggest the full set of Geoff Johns GL omnis, as volume 1 and 3 don't double dip at all, and there's plenty of lead up to Blackest Night in volume 2. 2. Hal and pals is really good from what I hear. I read and enjoyed the first trade, but haven't read the rest. If there's an omni down the road I'll pick it up.
Oh man i have all Geoff Johns tpbs until blackest night, but this thing looks so massive, very discouraging to read comics with something like this, they should publish two volumes instead
