FYI, Green Lantern Corps Recharge takes place AFTER Infinite Crisis and Rann-Thanagar War. It's pretty much part of the "One Year Later" thingy. Kyle even comments about the events of the war while they're heading to OA. Omar shows the page, in fact, right after Isamot's introduction (so, it taks place after issue 9 of the main Green Lantern title).
I'm pretty sure _Recharge_ takes place before _Infinite Crisis_ and somewhere around the start of _Rann-Thanagar War._ The references you point to are about a situation in progress, and Kyle gets a new costume and a new name in the _Rann-Thanagar War: Infinite Crisis Special._ Then, in the aftermath of _Infinite Crisis,_ the _Green Lantern Corps_ ongoing launches and Kyle spins off into his _Ion_ solo series.
Kyle is also my favorite. Being an artist myself I identify easily with this character. Of all the lanterns he creates the most detailed and imaginative constructions. Especially love it when he wraps himself in a mech-suit.
To be honest, vol 2 would all be Tony Bedard written, wouldn't it? Personally, vol 1 is all I need but I'm down for completionists getting the full run 👍🙏
Volume 2 would probably include issues 39-47 of the pre Flashpoint run and the New 52 run from issue 1-20, right? Since they will only be Tomasi/Gleason centric, these books will be incomplete. The pre Flashpoint run lasted for around 63 issues and the New 52 run lasted for around 40 issues, right? They should have made these just Green Lantern Corps Omnis instead of creator centric ones. Two volumes would have been good for the pre Flashpoint run and one volume for the New 52 run.

Been waiting on this for a long time!! I have mine on the way to me as I type!! So quick question for Omar...what is the official reason why issues 4,5 and 6 were left out? It makes no sense to me but that is DC collected editions for you!!
Hi can someone please tell me whats the timeline between this and 3 of Geoff John’s GL omnis? do i read this GLC after or before GJ omnis? please help as i have bought all the omnis. Thank you so much
So ridiculously good. In some ways I think I enjoyed GLC even more than John's GL run. Together though, wow, what a great pair of titles. I really miss Sodam Yat too, what a cool character. Created by Alan Moore but developed wonderfully by Tomasi and Johns.
Exactly, I bought this, but i much prefer my Omni's to be between 750 to 1100 pages anything over 1300 is a hard sell for me, but then again I did buy this 😂
Great stuff! Forgot HOW good this book was. The current comic readers heads would explode from how much a comic can be good. Instead of the garbage produced now.
I have all 3 GL Johns omnis. How much of this omni is overlapped with those. I have not read the GLC and am thinking of buying it, if there isn't too much overlap. Thank you.
Those missing issues and double dips with the johns omnis are a dealbreaker for me. I will keep my trades and hc until they reprint these books with the full mapping. Ideally they would combine all of the johns era together into 5 or more omnis. I made a full mapping order on reddit a few years ago.
I want this, I love Green Lantern and everything Green Lantern Corps. Can I read this with no other reading of Green lantern stuff? Or should I read Geoff Johns first?
Hey, I'm really interested in this book and the GLC. But I don't really care that much about Hal Jordan. Is it still a good purchase? Or is GL by Geoff Johns absolutely mandatory to enjoy this?
A little disappointing that the spine doesn’t match up with the other Tomasi omnis BUT it should be pretty easy to find someone that can make a new dust jacket to match them (that is if you don’t already know how to do it yourself).
@@funkmasterusa No recommendations but a guy I know wanted to practice his photoshop skills and made dust jackets for the New X-Men and Wolverine omnis that fit in with the Krakoa era and according to him it wasn’t too hard to do
So if you have all 3 Geoff johns green lantern books do I really need to get this one? (I don’t mind but it just looks like a lot of the issues that’s already collected in the trilogy of books)
Ive wanted to get into this era of GL for a while because I’ve heard from many that it’s a great place to start. I just don’t know whether or not to read through all of John’s stuff first or this first or both at once? It’s a lot lol
I don't have any of the omnis, but I've been building a reading order for the Johns-Venditti era. I ordered by single issues, and I included stuff like Blue Beetle and other smaller cameos to be very thorough. There are almost 700 single issues, but I'll streamline a bit for you (and stop with the John's era). Stuff with an asterisk is optional. REBIRTH Green Lantern - Secret Files and Origins, 01 (The Day Before) Green Lantern - Rebirth, 01-06 Green Lantern - Secret Files and Origins, 01 (Flight) Green Lantern v04, 01-06 Green Lantern v04, 09 (Yes, out of order, as it makes more sense for IC) Rann-Thanagar War, 01-06 (only the 'Wog and Kyle parts are important) Infinite Crisis, 01* Green Lantern v04, 07-08 Infinite Crisis, 02-04 Infinite Crisis Special: Rann-Thanagar War, 01 Infinite Crisis, 05-07 Guy Gardner - Collateral Damage, 01-02* (It deals with some very minor loose ends from even before Rebirth, and it's not that great) Green Lantern Corps - Recharge, 01-05 Green Lantern Corps v02, 01-09 Ion, Guardian of the Universe, 01-06 Green Lantern v04, 10-20 (skip the Tales of the Sinestro Corps for later) Ion, Guardian of the Universe, 07-12 Green Lantern Corps v02, 10-13 SINESTRO CORPS WAR Green Lantern v04, 18-20 (the Tales of the Sinestro Corps part) Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special, 01 (Tales of the Sinestro Corps BEFORE the main issue) Green Lantern v04, 21 Green Lantern Corps v02, 14 Green Lantern v04, 22 Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Parallax, 01 Green Lantern Corps v02, 15 Green Lantern v04, 23 Green Lantern Corps v02, 16 Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Cyborg Superman, 01 Green Lantern v04, 24 Green Lantern Corps v02, 17 Blue Beetle v07, 20 Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Superman-Prime, 01 (main story) Green Lantern Corps v02, 18 Green Lantern v04, 25 Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Ion, 01 Green Lantern Corps v02, 19 WAR OF LIGHT (On a note, I get VERY granular with the pages, where you jump mid-issue. @@TheSmart.1 It's still a work in progress. The Brightest Day part, I'll have to see if I can group the story arcs together instead of spacing them around as I prefer to read everything in one go if it the timeframe of the issues don't conflict.
Can and/or should this run be read on it's own? I've always wanted to read some GL but don't want to commit to 5+ omni's to read the whole johns/tomasi era.
if this is anything like the geoff johns green latern then im looking forward to reading it just got my copy today the geoff johns omnibuss were epic in every sense of the word hopefully this will be as twisted and sinister as they were cause to be honest before i read geoff johns i wasnt sure what green latern was but after readign them well the rest is history and just started reading this and so far its ok see how it develops
Great omni, just finished it. Am I the only one who noticed they screwed up the table of contents? Goes from page 1111 (Sea of Fear 1) to 1085 (New Blood). Come on DC, attention to detail…
The solicited page count and issues included made the pretty hefty pricepoint of $150 cover seem a little bit more reasonable. It sucks that the issues weren't included and the page count is significantly less than what was advertised. I won't complain too much though, I'm extatic that we're getting these issues in omnibus format
That’s what bothers me about author based omnis. It only covers what other author(s) wrote and no one else. I’ll live without the Gibbons issues, but it’s worth including in a reading order for someone new.
Guy Gardner in the 90’s was DC’s excuse for not having a counterpart for Marvel’s Wolverine. I’m glad they’ve been reframing his character to be unique. It feels like he’s his own person theses days.
That mapping is a mess, but then it wouldn't be a DC book if it wasn't full of inexplicably maddening choices. Why stick all the _Blackest Night_ side-stories in between chapters of "Emerald Eclipse"? The book cuts off before _Blackest Night_ starts, so it would've made more sense to hold them back for the next volume and include _Green Lantern Corps_ #4-6 instead. And why leave "Curse of the Alpha Lantern" in between chapters of "Ring Quest" instead of placing it before or after? Hell, given they left out #4-6, presumably because neither Tomasi nor Gleason were credited on them, why is "Curse of the Alpha Lantern" included at all? They didn't work on those issues either. And then going to the effort of including the _Showcase 95_ stories, which is a nice touch. It's all so random and poorly thought out.
Those missing issues bothered me. They kept on being referenced severel times in the story. And issue 6 being left out was bad. It introduced us to an important character that would had a big role in sinestro war and had a huge grudge with guy. You would have no clue what was going on.
@@mattthompson3371 What I really hope for is that people stop buying inferior products from these companies. However, that will never happen and people will continue to buy these shitty products.
I cannot agree with you, Omar, when you seem to condone DC for having skipped issues that were solicited, out of love for the content. I too love it, I have all of the old standard HCs, which are not complete either I think. And if the skipped issues had not been solicited, sure, it wouldn't be an issue other than personal preference. But it's not the case, they were advertised as part of the book in a strict and binding pre-order system. People who pre-ordered this pretty costly collector's item and are not happy with DC's choice should be allowed to send back their copies and being refunded, in my opinion. (and no, it's not a matter of cultural wars against rich men north of Richmond, it's just false advertising... Pretty sure in the EU we have consumers rights laws covering that).
People can do what they want with their money. It’s a great series and years in the making. Does it suck? Absolutely? But I leave it up to my viewers to decide what to do. As you can see from the comments some aren’t getting it and others are or did. They didn’t start the standard HCs until volume 4 of the run. So you need the trades to complete it.
@@NearMintConditionPeople can do whatever they want with their money, no question. My point was that they said "give us your money in advance, we will bring you a book with XX issues", but at the end of the day you receive XX minus 3. You should be allowed to send the item back and be refunded, if you feel like it. For sure you can with Amazon and other big online retailers, being the description different from the final product. But you can't with comic shops, unless they're in the mood of making you a favor.
@@andreamateria3106 I see your point now. That really is up to the comic stores to argue with distributors and they can take it up to DC. That's how recalls start unfortunately.
These “Overview” videos get a bit too much into recap territory with an excess of plot points, but I still appreciate hearing about the mapping and included issues. Cheers
Wrong solicit, no page numbers, thin paper, gutter loss, guy gardiner issues missing, creator centric rather than series centric....great stories, dumpster fire omni DC, dissappoints continually
Look at that subtle off green coloring... a tasteful thickness of it..... Oh my God! It even looks great besides the Johns Omnie!

So ridiculously good. In some ways I think I enjoyed GLC even more than John's GL run. Together though, wow, what a great pair of titles. I really miss Sodam Yat too, what a cool character. Created by Alan Moore but developed wonderfully by Tomasi and Johns.
hey Omar Do you think there is any chance to get Green Lantern Corps omnibus by venditti ??
I would buy it just to get a solicit for his Hawkman run!
It's the internet; people will complain, say they will cancel, but they won't actually cancel.😂
These omnis are getting massive...give me 900 pages or less so my books survive longer term. Great review as always though
Exactly, I bought this, but i much prefer my Omni's to be between 750 to 1100 pages anything over 1300 is a hard sell for me, but then again I did buy this 😂
@@Ashguy733 trust Me, I have venomnibus and Spiderverse/Spidergeddon on is...I UNDERSTAND 🤣
How long did it take for you to reread this? Awesome run by great writers!
Now bring on Flash by Joshua Williamson omnibus vol 1 and 2!
I'm planning on getting Geoff Johns GL Omnis 1-3. Is there any double dipping with this new one? Is it not worth getting if you have those three?
Can you imagine being Omar's kids? Everyday is: "Why can't you be more like Kyle?"
Every. Day!
Great stuff! Forgot HOW good this book was. The current comic readers heads would explode from how much a comic can be good. Instead of the garbage produced now.
If you'll check the actual May 2023 solicits, you'll see that GLC 4-6 isn't on there.
curious if the printing of issues that were in GJ GL omni 1 are different or better in this book to compare
Thank you Omar, I am waiting for my DCBS order to ship. Will you create a video making guesses about the mapping of a potential vol 2?
YEEEEES GLC
I was just looking for GL Corps omnibus completely unaware that it dropped only this year.
Can anyone tell me what daredevil omni compares to Geoff johns run on green lantern?
These GL omnis certainly have amazing artwork and colour! I still laugh at the table of contents with page numbers though…
Am sold.. i order it..
I hate double dipping but I feel like I would really enjoy reading all the stuff that isn't repeated.
It’s absolutely worth it, this run is one of the best DC comics of the modern age.
A little disappointing that the spine doesn’t match up with the other Tomasi omnis BUT it should be pretty easy to find someone that can make a new dust jacket to match them (that is if you don’t already know how to do it yourself).
I’d love a recommendation if you have one! I really like the spines on the other Tomasi omnis.
@@funkmasterusa No recommendations but a guy I know wanted to practice his photoshop skills and made dust jackets for the New X-Men and Wolverine omnis that fit in with the Krakoa era and according to him it wasn’t too hard to do
Those are New 52 era books, though, so I get the switch.
I’m proud to say that I have the entire single issues collection of the green lantern corps alongside with my collection of Blackest Night 😢
So if you have all 3 Geoff johns green lantern books do I really need to get this one? (I don’t mind but it just looks like a lot of the issues that’s already collected in the trilogy of books)
Ok i have to get this ;-) I love all the GL but Hal will always be my favourite
I've pre-ordered the Justice League Dark Rebirth omnibus by James Tynion IV.
Ive wanted to get into this era of GL for a while because I’ve heard from many that it’s a great place to start. I just don’t know whether or not to read through all of John’s stuff first or this first or both at once? It’s a lot lol
Read it concurrently.
@@GoldenDogs514comics are so confusing lol. Which order should you read them.)?
I don't have any of the omnis, but I've been building a reading order for the Johns-Venditti era. I ordered by single issues, and I included stuff like Blue Beetle and other smaller cameos to be very thorough. There are almost 700 single issues, but I'll streamline a bit for you (and stop with the John's era). Stuff with an asterisk is optional.

@@kamikaze5528 Holy shit yes this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Hello, Omar. What should I read first, Geoff Johns three omnibus or this one?
Do you read before GJ Omnis or after?
Great omni, just finished it. Am I the only one who noticed they screwed up the table of contents? Goes from page 1111 (Sea of Fear 1) to 1085 (New Blood). Come on DC, attention to detail…
Everyones talking about vol 2, I want a volume 3 so we get his new 52 run as well
I'm hoping there be collected in volume 2 if not I'll need to try and track them down but the trades are really hard to find now
Sinestro Corps War is the Best Green Lanterns storyline in my opinion. ❤ If DC will look to do a movie about GL, they have great script ready 🎉
I’ll live without the Gibbons issues, but it’s worth including in a reading order for someone new.
this arrived through the post couple days ago
instantly took a pic, posted on Instagram and tagged Near Mint Condition 😁
Geoff Johns made me like and care about Hal Jordan I was a huge Kyle Rayner fan back in the day.
Guy Gardner in the 90’s was DC’s excuse for not having a counterpart for Marvel’s Wolverine. I’m glad they’ve been reframing his character to be unique. It feels like he’s his own person theses days.
definitely Kyle, hope he gets his own omni
Got most of the floppies of this run.
I didn't realize how many issues Tomasi and Gleason did together. 3 omnis worth of material is a crapton of comics! lol
So what isn't overlap? Seems like 70% of it is overlap.
Guy Gardiner Omnis please
Hot take: GLC is better than the flagship Green Lantern books by Johns.
I agree that Kyle Rayner is the best Green Lantern.
But no matter what you do, there's always issues with the issues. 😉
Does anybody think the Morrison Green Lantern will get an Omnibus?
Those missing issues bothered me. They kept on being referenced severel times in the story. And issue 6 being left out was bad. It introduced us to an important character that would had a big role in sinestro war and had a huge grudge with guy. You would have no clue what was going on.
Literally no reason to keep them out 🥲 Why include issues without Tomasi and Gleason but exactly these are not included
Love it but gonna have to pass. I'm done upgrading. Keeping my trades.
I really hope that DC does not cut corners and start going for thin paper like Marvel has been doing.
It's bound to happen. EVERYTHING has gone up in price and quality isn't what it used to be. Toys, videogames, movies, everything.
@@trishb.6398 That's not a good enough excuse to cut corners or to charge more for an INFERIOR product.
@@frankg586 Man, I hope you don't collect anything else, because all other collectables have gone up.

at 18:10, that page with Martian Manhunter, my friend thinks he has an egg head so he calls him "cabeza de huevo" lol
Hahaha
Cheers
$200 for content I have in trades. I think I'm out.
I’ll pass.I have all of it in hardcover format.
Wrong solicit, no page numbers, thin paper, gutter loss, guy gardiner issues missing, creator centric rather than series centric....great stories, dumpster fire omni
DC, dissappoints continually
Another DC omnibus where the solicit was wrong. Sigh.
