this is it. this is the episode where vinland saga went from a solid 9.5/10 to what i consider the greatest anime ever and one of the greatest stories ever told. and guess what? this isn't even the peak of the season. the next 8 episodes are just as good and jack is in for the ride of his life
IF Thorfin had been holding his daggers, some of his attacks would have landed on Snake, remember how he holds those daggers. Also, Snake was a warrior of Miklagard (the Old Norse name of Constantinople aka modern day Turkey), implying that he was a member of the Byzantine Varangian Guard - an elite unite of bodyguards employed by the Byzantine Emperors. His sword is curves since it is from the middle Eastern regions.
In addition to these: He has Arab features. He can read aloud the Latin Bible while interpreting it to Norse. His real name, which is revealed later, is of Norwegian origin. These clues make his complex origins even more intriguing.
*“That’s an odd stance. Not right for a spear or an ax… A sword? No…* * Me shouting at the screen * *DAGGERS!!* I love how the series alludes to Snake being an awesome and cunning warrior in his own right without telling us anything about him: we know he trained Thorgil, we know Thorfinn sensed danger/warrior spirit from him similar to Askellad at the start of the season, and his sword suggests that he was a high-ranking warrior from a foreign country; Miklagard aka Constantinople.
Yeah Im not gonna lie...this was one of the episodes that I've been waiting for you to react to since your S2 reactions started. Im glad to know I wasn't the only one frustrated, cussing out the show for how good it was while bawling my eyes out 😭
Askelad showing up is really the "devil on Thorfinn's shoulder". "Sure you have your ideals, your oath of non-violence... but you have good reasons to skip that now! And yeah you despise violence and like Snake but I'm sure he has good reasons too! Neither of you are at fault, go ahead! Do what you WANT to do! You're totally justified in "temporarily" abandoning your ideals". He's not telling him to KILL Snake, he's just pushing him to let go of his ideals, and sometimes that's all it takes to go down that dark path again, at least from Thorfinn's perspective as the conversation is only going on in his head. Love this story, keep going Jack!
I could have never anticipated the degree of pain this episode would put me through when I first watched it. Pretty much the same experience. I was on my couch enjoying myself, watching anime. Next thing I knew I was absolutely and painfully sobbing lmao good times. What a freaking masterpiece.
This two episodes sum up pretty much what vinland saga involves, cool fights/the most soul shattering, depressing, world wercking, episode ever, this is, in fact, peakland saga
"I am just a little tired" reminded of the time Meruem said almost the exact same thing to Komugi! While HxH took dozens of episodes to build up Meruem, Vinland did all that in just 3-4. Vinland Saga is peak anime!
In one of the next episodes is when i cried my hardest ever in my adult life. I usually tear up a little or I'll cry a bit if it was really sad but this upcoming moment made me break down like never before
One more thing about Snake wanting to kill Gardar: I think this is the closest we get to a justified killing in the series. Snake isn't just himself as an individual, he's been appointed to be in charge of security for the farm, therefore he has the authority to protect it and kill intruders and criminals. Not only that, with Ketil gone, he's also probably the one in charge of meting out justice from start to finish (that being also judge and jury). We saw Ketil "holding court" for Thorfinn and Einar's field, and this is another form of that. This isn't vengeance, it's justice, or at least the closest they could get to it at the time. Doesn't make it any less heartbreaking with us knowing the characters though.
Man I watched this episode on a train and had to pause every like 30 seconds cus I was getting so emotional. How they gonna make me feel so hard for a character that's only had like half an episode worth of Character development?
Miklagard is what the Vikings called Constatinopla, so Snake, being a Viking, was part of the Emperor's Varege Guard, that's why he says "I am a warrior of Miklagard".
11:38 - The effect where you can see Snake's nerves lighting up from his sword hand is kind of an adrenalin rush of Snake reacting to Thorfinn's stance or in other words Thorfinn "locking in", not Thorfinn analyzing anything at that point as Jack assumes.
I assume it's more like muscle memory. Snake has fought plenty of people using various weapons before and some patterns are etched in his reflexes, his body recognized the dagger stance before he did and got ready to react appropriately
Imagine the episode called "Pain" oh shit T__T bro you need to heal with Frieren later after this Master Piece, you would not regret the Frieren's journey!
I REEEEAAAALLLY hated the implication of him finding his son once he passed away!! I mean it was implied but this just gives points to the idea of him being dead too!
I didnt like the second season, I dont think I'm past season 1 of my life so season 2 was too calm for me. I read ahead in the manga and it gets more balanced later on.
It takes more courage to show emotion than you will ever know. It’s a beautiful story. Not everyone likes dull plots like the transformers movies or demon slayer
That’s one hell of a thumbnail face
Thumbnail is the winner

Basically Snake was on the level of the Jomsvikings that Floki leads. He could likely match Thors and Thorkell in skill.
In addition to these:
He has Arab features.
He can read aloud the Latin Bible while interpreting it to Norse.
His real name, which is revealed later, is of Norwegian origin.
These clues make his complex origins even more intriguing.
The thing is that if Thorfinn had been holding daggers, Snake's approach would have been different since he knows Thorfinn represents more danger.
@sawlaen824 probably not Thors. Thorkell and Askeladd? 100%.
His blade supposed to be an Paramerion, which was used by Byzantine Empire.

Jack is not ready for what's coming

My dumbass was holding my kid when this episode aired 😂😂 I was crushed
I'm rewatching the series now after having my first kid. This episode fricking broke me 😭
@ has parenting made you a big softie yet?
lol absolutely, that kid took his first few steps, and the water works started 😭
Vinland Saga is the perfect anime for parents
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one that broke with these episodes

I’ve been waiting for this one. I’m glad Vinland Saga has had as much of an impact on you as it has on me. :)
Same, so happy about every Vinland upload
"I am just a little tired" reminded of the time Meruem said almost the exact same thing to Komugi! While HxH took dozens of episodes to build up Meruem, Vinland did all that in just 3-4. Vinland Saga is peak anime!
Omg! Two episodes in one? An early Christmas gift, thank you Jack!❤️
In one of the next episodes is when i cried my hardest ever in my adult life. I usually tear up a little or I'll cry a bit if it was really sad but this upcoming moment made me break down like never before
That was one of the saddest episodes ever but it will get sadder😢
Next episode was so unsettling and fucked up. It was also right after this fucked story of this family.
jackthebus got wrecked by an apache attack piano
Gets me every time i watch this episode. Appreciate you being willing to share your reaction to this one

There's no justified killing in VS. Snake and his men would have sent Gardar back to be enslaved even if he never fought them.
My sole reason for being here is that thumbnail I don’t even watch Vinland Saga😭🙏🏾
Gotta start it frfr.
@@RealityBasedfrfrfr immediately
To make us feel so much for a character introduced just a few episodes ago! Vinland Saga is peak anime!
This episode made me cry, call my dad, and thank him for all the things he’s done for me man I swear
man got folded by vinland saga
relatable
no way we got double vinland episodes in one reaction before gta 6
W thumbnail
Ive been putting this show off but now im going to watch it with my wife. Thanks, Jack.
Yea Vinland Saga made me cry more than any piece of media I’ve ever experienced
Yeah and that’s Vinland saga in a nut shell right there 😢
Thanks for these episodes!!
Man I watched this episode on a train and had to pause every like 30 seconds cus I was getting so emotional. How they gonna make me feel so hard for a character that's only had like half an episode worth of Character development?
I’m glad you’re willing to cry because it makes me feel better that I cried also
i love your reaction bro, keep going
jACK!! WE'RE LOSING HIM😭😭
Double episode today!
Oh yeah. This is the one I was waiting for 😭
Excelente reacción!
Possibly my favorite couple of episodes… ever?
How dare you jack, you almost fooled me I almost left the video because I trusted your ending to part 1
Jack is gonna cry in that episode. I guarantee it
Miklagard is what the Vikings called Constatinopla, so Snake, being a Viking, was part of the Emperor's Varege Guard, that's why he says "I am a warrior of Miklagard".
"For Arnheid 🤝"
The best episode of Season 2, I will die on that hill. "Oath" at comes a very close second, if not equally as great.
WOOOOOO 2 IN 1
This season hits different
11:38 - The effect where you can see Snake's nerves lighting up from his sword hand is kind of an adrenalin rush of Snake reacting to Thorfinn's stance or in other words Thorfinn "locking in", not Thorfinn analyzing anything at that point as Jack assumes.
basically what happened to thorfinn when snake attacked him all those episodes ago but roles reveresed
I assume it's more like muscle memory. Snake has fought plenty of people using various weapons before and some patterns are etched in his reflexes, his body recognized the dagger stance before he did and got ready to react appropriately
Wait till he watch "to your eternity "
Brace for the next ep
Imagine the episode called "Pain" oh shit T__T bro you need to heal with Frieren later after this Master Piece, you would not regret the Frieren's journey!
yuerr!
I REEEEAAAALLLY hated the implication of him finding his son once he passed away!! I mean it was implied but this just gives points to the idea of him being dead too!
i mean, a group of vikings wouldn 't sell or raise a baby. they killed everyone except for the women basically
My only Christmas wish? Exchange 'Vinland Saga' with 'JacktheBus' in the title 😇
LETSGOOO!!
HOW DID THEY GET HIM UNDER THE BED THOUGH
Oh Jack, it gets much worse.
this is why i think vinland saga is top 3 anime oat, imo its better than one piece.
I waiting jack reaction One piece fan letter 😂✌️
Bro,i think you probably need to watch dragon ball heroes,it just very good for me tbh
No shot Vinland saga destroyed this man more than One Piece has lmao
That’s only logical
@@c3p6do you realize how many times one piece has made this man cry? Lol
