As a dub fan I’ll admit it. Serious Luffy during the early arcs of One Piece sounded a bit weird, so original japanese takes the cake here. But I can only say this now after being caught up to 90% of the anime. Colleen’s voice of Luffy definitely improved overtime, giving the right treatment Luffy needs to match both his silly and serious moments. And to those Sub/Japanese only fans who only search up dub moments to shit on Luffy, keep it to yourselves. Atleast acknowledge the that the voice actress is putting all her effort into voicing Luffy to make the dub audience proud.
Die hard sub fan here, and not a fan of Funimation either. But this still sounds really good, at least Colleen does. I agree it sounds like she's really getting into it and doing her best, unlike most dub VAs. Case in point, most DBZ VAs.
