Thank you so much for explaining the NPK. I had no idea what those numbers were for and all the other videos on succulent fertilizer just say "I use this one and it's great" but they don't explain anything like you did here. Thank you so much!
So happy to find your channel! I have 6 echeverias on the way and was so confused on fertilizer (newbie here)! The way you explained it made complete sense! Subscribed! 🤗
Thank you so much! :) I have been really nervous about how I can fertilize my indoor plants and am just seeing growth from the succulent seeds you helped me do with your other video! It puts me at ease knowing they don't need regular, particular fertilizing. I'll let them do them!
Sweet! Thanks for the tips honestly learned a lot! (i just got started with succulents and I didn't know anything about them lol) you just got a new subscriber!!
when i remember to fertilize my succulents, i usually use really light fish/seaweed-based fertilizer. i use it for all my houseplants, actually. especially since succulents can mostly make do without fertilizer at all, i feel like this is a nice addition and they seem to do well. it does make my house smell like the ocean for a day, but it reminds me that my plants are being fed so I'm ok with it :p
I've never used foliar food and haven't heard of anyone else using it. I'd worry it could cause some damage if the leaves/plant are in direct sun, etc. I suggest you just feed with a watering.
👋🏾First off, excellent and informative video content. I'm close to 60 y/o and my mother was using Schultz when I was a child. It's funny that I just ordered this today to start the feeding season for my succulents. Secondly, I feared for your life when that dry leaf appeared (@2:41) on your table!! I thought it was some sort of animal on the attack at first sight. 😳🥺😅😬 I'm glad wasn't anything to be concerned about.🪴😆🍂
Thank for looking out lol! The main thing to fear at that house was falling pecans. I've moved to a safer place haha! And that's great to hear about Schultz - definitely still a reputable product!
My food says 8 pumps for a gallon, but its specifically labeled for succulents. Any advice on what I should do about ratios? Or, how often would I be using this plant food water? Every watering? Or only occasionally with normal waterings between?
I'd follow the directions on the container if it's for sucs and the NPK balance looks legit. Feed as part of their normal water routine - ruclips.net/video/DomI3Z8BmNg/видео.html
Should you still stop fertilizing after the growing season if they’re being grown indoors under grow lights indoor temperature 70° humidity about 35%. Lights for 8 hrs
Hello and thank you for posting videos like this. I have a question regarding the Schultz cactus/succulent food. I have assembled an indoor succulent arrangement. Given the succulents will be indoors, does dormancy at some point become irrelevant because of more regulated temperature and as such, can I add some of the plant food to waterings more frequently? As you stated in your vid, succulents receive a lot of their nutrients from their soil. However I'm using the Bonsai Jack mix which helps with mitigating overwatering and root rot. That "soil mix" doesnt contain much nutrients unlike other soils. Thank you!
When growing indoors with natural light, fertilizer can cause the growth to be disproportionate to the light they're receiving and the plants may etiolate. Just make sure they're getting enough light to handle any additional food ;)
This video was very helpful for me thank you so much! :) I hope my succulents don't suc!! Also congratulations on all your success on your channel!! Also I have a question. Should I cover up my soil with rocks like yours?
Thanks R.J.! Glad it was helpful! You don't have to top dress with rocks but if you do, make sure they're porous. I just use some of my drainage materials :)
I have a tree circle with various sedums, asparagus ferns, Scottish moss, and portulaca in it. The built-in fertilizers have depleted. Seaweed fertilizer will kill the moss. What would you recommend to use? I'm thinking Dr Earth 2-2-2. 🍀🌿🌾🐀🐾
Question: In your "Basic Tips: Soil and Fertilizer" write-up, you warn us about Perlite retaining too much moisturizer and urge us to use other options instead, yet in the actual DIY soil recipe you tell us to "Start with several shovels full of topsoil, then add an equal amount of perlite; then add a few shovels of your other drainage materials." Please clear this up for us. My sucs are little house plants here in Phoenix, and I know that too much water retained in the soil will kill the sucs quicker than anything else. Thanks.
Perlite retains more moisture than the other drainage materials - I really don't use it anymore but it is the easiest to find locally and sometimes the only thing people can find without having to have it shipped.

Thank you for this video! I'm learning as much as I can about succulent care now that I've adopted a couple plants during this pandemic
Glad it was helpful!
In the growing season you can use tomato feed it’s low nitrogen so it’s a cheap option which is good for me because I have loads of plants
Really useful. Thank you.
Thanks Felicia!
great info and vid
Thanks!
You're doing fabulous! Congrats on 30k!!!!
Thanks SO much Jenny! 🤗💜

Good news re the seedlings! I like the 'let them do them' approach too 😂

That's nice of you! My houseplants are lucky if they get watered - I'm so used to succulents lol!
Can we do foliar spray npk 19:19:19 on cacti 🌵 and succulents mam?

Thanks, I've been curious about fertilizing but I think I'll just leave em alone. Congrats on 30,000 that's great.
One less thing to worry about lol! Thank you Janea!!
Is the paperback version of your manual available?
It's in the works :)

@@SucsForYou You're absolutely welcome! 😊
I saw a copy of that book have any recommendations for a good succulent book?

Love your videos . how do you make your cactus flower?
A lot of cacti need a period of vernalization, or cold temperatures, to induce flowering the following spring :)
Any tips on fertilizing string of pearls?
Going to return the miracle-gro succulent food I just bought on a whim. I only water w rain water I collect & they seem fine.
My food says 8 pumps for a gallon, but its specifically labeled for succulents. Any advice on what I should do about ratios? Or, how often would I be using this plant food water? Every watering? Or only occasionally with normal waterings between?
it also made the gallon of water an absolutely horribly thick brown. It concerned me so I dumped it and just did two pumps.

I got seedlings I planted in September is it ok to fertilize them? What is the tall plant in brown clay pot? good show thanks again
Thank you! I'd be worried about fertilizing this young - slow and steady is best for now. That's a Cereus forbesii Spiralis :)
@@SucsForYou Thanks

Give them a rest period whenever their natural dormancy period would be :)

I remember giving them fertilizers when I started the hobby but now I just ignore them and let them do their thing.
any AZ or NM folks out there? when do you all stop fertilizing? I know our schedule is a tad different than less arid areas....thx.

A low, balanced NPK like that should be fine. You can dilute it by 1/2 if you're concerned :)

What about something natural like kelp or seaweed
So rainwater contains nutrients now? How come?
what about cacti? how to fertilize them?
Was going to buy some succulent fertilizer but guess I won’t now since u said they don’t need it
Depends on your organic soil - it's often enough if you don't use majority drainage materials and repot every few years.
Name the fertilizer please. I am from India
