As tangata whenua living in Hawai'i nei, I was not aware of Dame Cindy's elevation to the office of Governor-General. On the one hand I am so proud of the changes taking place in Aotearoa as represented by this appointment but I am also aware that this will be seen by the haters as an opportunity to raise their voices in despicable commentary rather than acknowledging the huge advances NZ is making and being recognised on the international stage for such visionary steps. To Dame Cindy I say "Kia kaha I tenei ra, kia kaha apopo, kia kaha ake ake!!!".
I hope Cindy does the right thing for the people of new Zealand, that is her job with a lot of corruption in the government it won't be easy, what is easy is to stand for the truth. Step up girl make your people proud.
