As a half Maori and Hungarian, I grew up in English society. Where we grew up, there was maybe 2 other cultured families. Mostly pakeha, they were always beating up my brother. Smashed teeth, smashed continually. My english freinds mother, told me to wait at the footpath, i wasnt allowed at the house. It was horrible at the footpath, watching my english friends allowed to go in the house, when we all walked to school. Hearing parents wherever I was scolding my friends for playing with me. Later at work, not that long ago. I was the only manager beating my budget 10 years in a row. I was bullied by their jealousy. The married english CEO was busy chasing girls in the office, he was careful with me, as I was bringing in incredible sales with my mostly cultured team. This english female manager would run my team down for not wearing suits. I would offer to help her given her budget was always behind. That shut her up at the managers meeting. Yes whanau is safer then english society.
Children absolutely must be with family wherever possible. I was shocked to see the foster carers exploiting the children by filming them being initially upset at being returned to the wider family.
Family don't allow family to abuse their kids, if that's the case to expect kids to go to extended family where the abusers still have access is idiotic
@@tracymichaelsen493 Understood. The case in question, the actual whanau of the tamariki were already foster parents paid by OT, yet they couldn't be found? Their interview is on the hui
Forever home = Forced adoption, even if the parent/s sort their life's out and want their children back, they can't. It's so wrong, and these foster parents should know 1 day the family may want the kids back.
Iv experienced OT with my nieces and nephew i was the first contact because my sister told them to contact me so they stayed with me until OT deemed it well for them to go back to their mother. I must say Ot where very awesome through the whole process of it all so im at a loss at how they could get this situation so wrong and wonder how many other cases like this there are. Because i already had a relationship with my nieces and nephew it was like a holiday for them it is sad that it took 3yrs for these kids to find 1 of their whānau to care for them in a time of social media where their families could have been found the day of being uplifted! Im so grateful with how the situation played out for us but feel aroha for all the kids & whānau that get put in a shit situation like this. Ka aroba
Yes, but we've been through that. The Military came with guns, Maori society was demolished, forests cleared, land stolen, the language forbidden, pakeha diseases rampant, alcohol easily accessible, 2 World Wars & 2 generations of traumatized men... entrenched racism, huge inequality... My partner had an ancestors in the Military south of Auckland and his uncles cleared Pureora of its' ancient forest. One of my ancestors opened a brewery in Wellington. We've been through all that. This racist government is set to cause more problems, more trauma, more destruction of the land we are part of, more poverty, more disconnection, more resentment, and much worse health among our Maori whanau. The British were wellknown all over the world for their brutal treatment of children. The opposite was true in Maori Society before everything was stolen and demolished. If anyone wants to know what a real smash and grab is, look just go back 160 years. This government knows how to smash...and grab. I wonder how the hell those complete strangers were given children "for life" in the first place. Oh yeah, there was no 7aa.
@@barbsmart7373 Yes, my family can be traced back to Rangiaowhia, where my Irish ancestor and his Māori wife were living in a community that was thriving with both cultures in harmony, until the Crown got greedy. They insisted that the Māori tribes put their women and children in a safe place (Rangiaowhia) then went around the men and attacked Rangiaowhia. Horrific violence was enacted, then they all became refugees, land stolen. That trauma is carried forward through the generations. Banning Māori women from breastfeeding their babies, state taking children from families, borstals, cyfs, etc etc, the violence is enacted and perpetuated by the state/crown.

@@mobbarley7517 then you haven't educated yourself on the situation.
Those children are just fine.
Agree Catherine, it was appalling the "lifelong" fosterers behaved so badly....
How much actual effort was put into finding their whanau to start with?
Rewatch. They explained or did you not understand?

Not enough, until 7AA came into effect and there was a prioritisation given.
Definitely a failure on the part of the social worker
why is this story so short guys where is the rest of the story or is that it
What more did you want?

Would it be the sisters' responsibility to disclose she has family?

Offered PAKEHA home for life!!
Good on you Karen.
OT can't win... bottom line: there are too many 🤮 parents and family's
Seems so though your ignoring the real issue why are so many Maori abusing their children?
Learn New Zealand’s history, the crown/colonial strategies have achieved these outcomes in indigenous cultures around the world.
