I do love that you got you comment allowance back it is so much easier for to tell you how much I enjoy your hard work on making and editing and adding the great music to your videos!!! Thank you
WOW What beautiful life ,wife , kids and BOAT you have. GOD has blessed you sir. YOU are living THE dream AMEN With that crew you can weather ANY storm ENJOY and PEACE be with you.. ALWAYS
Punch it kids! A tsunami couldn’t slow that Nordhaven down. Great video actually, first time I’ve seen you guys. Double thumbs up from down under. Turn that run around and come visit 👍 Attach as action cam to the side of the hull with a suction cap or magnet - that will show up the weather and waves 🌊 Have fun kids!
Hi from Tennessee! My husband and I love watching y’all’s videos! We want to get a boat and live the “boat life” so badly but just not there quite yet but I wanted to say that you,Brooke, really inspire me to be a better person in everything that I do and I want to tell you thank you, thank you for making these videos and taking us all on this journey with you and your beautiful family! We have two kids and your kids remind me so much of ours when they was that age…Thanks again and can’t wait to see the next video!
Just found your vids lovely boat and family shots keep smiling and keep a safe track and I’ll keep watching - that’s the deal !! 😂😎God speed to you all
Another beautiful day cruising, I completely agree with you on the difficulty of showing on video how big the seas actually are. A major part of that is lack of a scale in the background of the shot. Really the only way is when you're close to either shore or another boat and can show either the waves breaking or the other vessel bobbing around like a cork!
Your videos are great. You really have a talent for editing and content. I have two littles as well and you guys are living my dream. Keep up the good work so I can live vicariously through you!
are you serious? this team needs to watch some of the top sailing vids to get the idea. This video was choppy, uncomfortable to watch. Picking grass from the anchor area, pictures of bare feet, bare stairs... I couldn't watch it all. And the music is agitating.
Brooke's Book's Bomb Hummus (12:56), so you don't have to copy it down like I did. 1/4 cup lemon juice 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 (15.5 oz) can chickpeas, drained 1 bunch fresh chives 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1/4 cup tahini 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, plus more as needed sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to taste (optional) 1. Combine all ingredients except salt, pepper and cayenne/paprika in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth, about 2 minutes 2. Taste the hummus and add salt and black pepper as needed. Sprinkle in cayenne for kick, paprika for roasted flavor. 3. If too thick, add more olive oil or warm water and blend again. 4. Store in glass container with airtight lid in fridge.
Great to be able to comment. Never understood the reasoning since other channels have kids on them with comments. Tried to stop by and say hello this past winter when you were in Stuart. I'll keep a lookout for you if you come this way again.
I’m happy for you that you got your comments back. Honestly it is not the same without comments as the views and hints from people give the extra on a channel. (Given that no trolls enters 😈👎🏼) 🤠💥. Anyhow, yay. Keep moving that floating device and the music in the videos gives the extra. And I loved the ending “leave your comments below” haha great
Have y'all ever discussed the reasons how you decided on the kind of trawler hull design displacement versus semi-displacement with its higher speeds. Was it range or stability or comfort just curious. Also why nordhaven specific as opposed to bearing or Pacific Northwest or some of the other companies that have almost the same I'm just really interested in the boating life thank you.
Wow...living aboard a trawler? That's an interesting perspective. I read in the comments your planning a crossing... of which sea? I've never heard of anyone doing an Atlantic or Pacific crossing in a trawler. I've done two pacific, one through the canal up through the Caribbean to Miami. That was with my Wally Esense...I no longer own the boat, sailed it across the Atlantic to sell it to a brit. I had planned to break records for fastest pacific cross but both times hit unpredictable bad weather/rough sea. I'm over it now but it was sore subject for a while.
Thanks for sharing. I plan on binge watching for the next three days just to relax and daydream and catch up. Currently at episode 32. You're doing a really great thing. Keep it up, please.
beautiful boat guys my kids loves watching your videos you guys living the dream wish I could make my kids dream come true one day with a small fishing boat we jus had saved up for a small boat it got stolen broke my kids heart
@@ABOARDMERMAIDMONSTER thnk u soon I'll surprise him again one day hopefully by next summer we will have enough saved by then keep up your videos enjoy
Waves are wind generated, swell is an effect from a far off storm. So the swell you are feeling can be from hundreds of miles away. Waves are more local, and require local wind. Fetch is the distance that wind gets to travel on the water and the longer the fetch the bigger the waves. And life is most unpleasant when the waves and swell are coming from different direction, you get confused seas and your boats gets tossed around all over.
I'm binge watching all your older videos, on my TV, that I don't remember seeing and I'm currently watching the one were the hook for the dingy sling bent. I know it would take a little more time/work, but wouldn't those 'D' rings be a lot safer? They have that bolt that screws in so it would bend way before it would break and it could bend a lot and still never come unhooked
@@ABOARDMERMAIDMONSTER not yet but is opening up towards the end of the year so fingers crossed, look up "dusky sound Fiordland" and "queen charlotte sound" for some insp. mermaid monster would look great in those spots, love your guys channel, have binge watched every episode and have just caught up
Another nice video. Thanks! May I make a suggestion? I noticed you were coming thru the cut steering with your bow thruster. It might be wiser to use the wheel and especially with twin engines you can use the clutches and throttles if the rudders are not giving you the turn necessary. The thrusters should be a last resort tool. They tend to create very poor seamanship and the day it breaks and all you have is rudder and engines you will wish you practiced more with them! Not criticizing just recommending...
Are you referring to the autopilot?? Because I was steering that, not the bow thruster? But I will say that if I needed to use a thruster in a situation like that, I would. Sometimes our boats power is not enough in a strong current. ❤️
'Complacency Kills'...not necessarily literally, but can make The Dream seem more like a nightmare--especially with family along. Inquiring minds want to know--were you able to catch that squall and get the free rinse??
Brooke I have to ask. Anytime you are running in the waves there is a noise in the pilot house. Sounds like wood rubbing on wood I'm sure you hear it all the time. Does that not get on your nerves? I figured Braden would have fixed that by now. Just thought I would ask. Another great episode look forward to the next one.
What is the most comfortable size boat for the size of family you have there so just me and one other person and I like to travel but I'm 62 when I'm just trying to start dumb thing about doing it now
Want to be better at fishing? Your in Da Bahamas Man… there are great guides most everywhere…. Hire them to show you the ropes… or in your case the lines… bottom fishing, rigging for trolling, where and what to catch. Enjoy!! Da Bahama’s Man…😎
You folks seem to exercise prudence and good judgement and respect the sea. That is the only way to deal with Mother Nature, she is unpredictable and gets in very bad moods on occasion. Safe travels.
Hmmm… comments are on. (Before you mentioned on video) Reason? Comparing to other channels with kids, that could not have been the main reason. Anyway, been enjoying your vids.
Usually the opposite is true, trolling too slow gives the fish too much time to check out the offering, also a slow bait or lure does not act like a baitfish trying to not be eaten, they normally light the afterburners to get out of Dodge...... As long as you have the right lure that hangs in at higher speeds you could troll at high cruise.

Yes yes you do. Thanks for the perfect explanation.
Great to have the comments back. Question: how much do you list when you lift the dingy?
Not much!
New to channel love the boat.
Awesome
Dishes trick..rinse them off the back of the boat. When at anchor its fun. Kids love it cause it feels "wrong" and attracts fish.
Good idea!
Well waves might come from a storm quite far away. So keep an eye on the radar outside your area... but you know this

Yes! For us there is! Sail you are heeled over sideways. We have stabilizers that keep our boat relatively stable
