  • Testing out the Harbor Freight Predator 670 with a Mudskipper 22hp custom 89" long tail kit on my 12' v hull aluminum boat. Running a 9.5" weedless prop governed to 3,600 RPM.
Overall, The boat handled the weight on the transom and it was easy to drive and handle the weight of the bigger motor. Did not see an increase on top speed, but do think I wont be sluggish when fully loaded with a passenger.

No 9.5 weedless was the largest prop used on that boat when David had it

      I thinks it’s a 57 inch shaft,
      Super short
      9x6 prop I’m turning 3700 running 20-21, 9x5 prop I run like 17 mph and turn 4000 rpm easy, mayb 4100,

Looks like its dialled in now really liking the 670cc on this setup wonder what speed you will get with a extra person and camping gear?
My weekends are normally 2 and 3 day trips wonder how much gas i would need on board for a full weekend?

What I found with the 670 is that is has plenty of torque to handle the weight, but the extra weight makes the bow dig deeper in the water and cause more drag. It’s more the design of the boat that limits its top speed when weighed down

@@DavidSanchez-cd7fz interesting that the bow is digging down i guess that would defeat putting float pods on the stern that might make it even worse. It's good to know because there are about 6 of these V hulls on craigslist in my area priced right.
Sounds like i better stick to the flat bottom jons . My goal is to get 2 more of these on the water before June , kinda leaning toward a kaboat for my grandson
