Hi guys, if you interested with younger version of takeshi kaneshiro you can check a member from kpop group called GOT7 Park Jinyoung. He was born in late 1994 when this movie was released. He reminds me of takeshi so much and has similar vibe with him 😁 (sorry for the shameless promotion 😂🙈)
I agree with her, When I was a kid I loved Pineapple, but now I am not a fan. Likes and Dislikes change as you grow. Love, unfortunately does not. Pineapple? I hate it. Her? I hate it...but still love it.
I like the part on 3:27 where he said to her "Do you like pineapple?" And her response "Do I like pineapple and What business is that of yours". I kind used that phrases a lot lol " What business is that of yours?"
I have always been curious of the context behind this scene, in which the protagonist, who talks to himself in Mandarin, starts flirting with her in Cantonese, followed by Japanese, English, then Mandarin at last. As a foreigner who picks up some Mandarin, I have always wondered what Wong Kar-Wai intended through this subtle narrative. Perhaps those who went through 90's Hong Kong can enlighten me on this issue :)
Kaneshiro (the actor) is half-Taiwanese/half-Japanese, and can speak English and Cantonese, but I think his Mandarin is better, so for practical reasons I think that's why he narrates in Mandarin and ends with Mandarin. Probably started in Cantonese since that's the predominant language in Hong Kong. I think Wong just wanted to depict how international 90s Hong Kong was (and still is now), and having Kaneshiro roll through 4 different languages was just one way to do so.
Here's another bit of trivia: Kaneshiro uses the word "fen li" for pineapple, but that's actually the word Taiwanese people use for pineapple. This of course, aligns with his statement of growing up in Taiwan. In mainland China, people use "bo lo" for pineapple.
That last 15 seconds or so, is one of the most poignant and melancholy scenes, I have personally ever witnessed. If Marvel movies had even just one minute of this kind of tangible emotion, maybe I would be more interested in them.
I think he has the most aesthetically pleasing face
Taeyong of NCT reminds me of young Takeshi
@@Hannah-kc8yi he's kinda has the same vibes with super junior siwon and nct, wayv lucas

GOD he's cute.
snillocgrom handsome 😍
The greatest "hopeless romantic" movie of all time!
I smiled up until the last couple lines because I was really rooting for him. And then her lines hit me like a ton of bricks.
That man is scandalously attractive
I would fall for him instantly. He's so cuteee
That ending camera movie and her little internal dialogue. Peak cinema.
Godd Takeshi Kaneshiro was sooo handsome back in the day😍😍😍😍✨💕
Aditi Uchil he still is
He still is tho.. 😊
i'd say, he's even better now
@@妙力命館 The best one is his looks in the late 90's-mid 00's (When he's more concentrated more in Japan)
He still is lad, I'm glad he embraced his age more, than try to fight against it.
this film is a masterpiece
I tried to talk to some girls in the bar like he did. Then I got my ass kicked
It is because you haven't found the right girl yet
omg I wouldn't have kick your ass !!!!!!!!! i would like the same
You need his face to pull it off
Yeah that’s called invasion of space lmao
uhm did you speak in 4+ languages..?
Quite simply put, this is the best film ever made.
She's a drug trafficker and he's a cop. Love works in mysterious ways. Wong Kar-wai is a master of psychological romance!
🙏

I think it really just depicts the effects of globalization. How multicultural our world (Hong-kong in this case) is becoming day-by-day.
