Sounds similar to the differences with the SV20! Smallbox isnt much softer in the top end unlike the SV, but overall a bit darker / rounder / bassier / less clear than the Plex.
Plex definitely has a little more "Bite" in the high-mids that I associate Marshall plexis having. But the difference is so small. I would still buy the Smallbox as you get a 2nd channel, and it also has the FX loop.
I have a ton of amps, including BE100DLX and a WWSB. I honestly don’t know why I need any other amp besides the SB. And a fantastic loop, to boot. Epic in a song and band mix and you showcase the fantastic dynamics on tap.
I had a Plex for a bit and got a small box winded up keeping the small box. Plex is awesome but the small box is so versatile and way more user friendly for live use
I have a Plex style amplifier from another manufacturer. it has a switch that adds the fx loop or removes the fx loop. I notice a very similar difference between Plex and the small box.
@@lancethompson218not even remotely close to true. Plugging straight into a small box is some of the best tones I’ve ever heard. Best amp I’ve ever owned.

Well.. I own a SmallBox 50 and yes! It's a killer amp. However I miss some bright high end. I think I'll be getting a Plex to replace it.
@ the bright high-end that has to cut off in the mix, because it would sound not good with vocals and cymbals

Agreed, I have the Smallbox combo and the tone is fantastic. Dave says channel 1 is a direct copy of his 68 Plexi, which I believe.

How does the Plex take pedals compared to the SB?
I just got a smallbox and can tell that all my pedals sound 10 times better. Really takes pedals amazingly well

No. It has a fixed depth of a 220k/4n7 ( if I recall correctly the values).
