You should try mouse acceleration

- I use to use mouse accel all the time when I was younger without even knowing. I'm primarily a wrist aimer and I think mouse accel helps bridge the gap between slow arm aim and fast wrist flicking.
Definitely try it out and see if it helps or not.

Thanks Surefour! Using your handy gameplay tips I've progressed from Masters all the way down to Silver! Thanks again for all the help!

This video was great. I could never understand how you clearly used high quake-like sens for your flicks but had tracking like your arm weighed a hundred pounds. Now I get it.
Been using mouse accel for a week or so now, absolutely loving every second of it. If you went back in time 15 years ago and told my teenage self that one day I'd be playing with a custom mouse acceleration curve and a wireless mouse, I'd have rocked you right in the mouth. How things change... what a time to be alive.

@@therealshugIronically, acceleration works super well for trackballs
gonna try this today. i've always just had different sensitivites for different heroes, but i think this is definitely the smarter approach. thanks for this s4
This was a great demo! I just hope people realize that this acceleration is very different from the default windows one. Also that this program is super customizable and has a high learning curve. Take your time and fidget with the graphs to find what works for you!
this actually helped correct some of the mistakes I usually make with my aim. thanks a lot for getting me back into this
I'm so glad I found this video. Thank you Surefour! I have had great success with a lower sens but cannot do 180's reliably. I've definitely got to give this a go as it seems like the perfect solution. It also means that I can keep the same sens for all heroes as opposed to what I do now which is to have different sens for different heroes.
I think this is the best video i've watched about raw accel. you literally explain it the simplest way.. thank you
i actually really like the method you explain for it, i tried mouse accel in the past, but i actually love this thanks surefour
i fought my way from silver to plat. now thanks to your help i'm bronze. thanks again surefour. great advice as usual. i'm going to tell my worst enemy about this and make him into the man that i want him to become. and that's thanks to you, bringing people together, too level the playing field.
Ok thanks surefour, you gave me soemthing that might actually be a solution, as im also (at my own level) playing every heroes, and at some point i even had different sense for each heroes (or group of heroes x) and i wasnt not bad with that system, even better than today in some ways, but it needed quite a lot of playtime on each and adaptations at each switchs. Now i came back to a single sens but a bit higher than id like for some hitscan cause i like it for most gameplays/turning around.
So you not only gave very interesting examples and showed a great idea that i had discarded cause of the inconsistancies but the program you used should be perfect for that prblm !
(My old multi sens were something like 1600dpi and 2ig sens for cree/soldier/widow; 3ig sens zen/ana/sym... 4 ig sens for tracer doom; 5ig for hog/orisa/sig/pharah/junk... ; 8ig sens winston/genji/rein)

8:00 to find your limit just do 1/SensMultiplier. For those who want to play with a different dpi (ex: mouse set to 1600 but accell output simulating 800) remember to divide both Limit and Sens Multiplier by NewDPI/OldDPI (ex: 1600/800=2 so SensMulti/2 and Limit/2)
I've been using mouse accel since Quake III, good to see that some pro's also use it for the same reason. Thanks for sharing!
You know it's a good day when you see surefour in your recommended
In OW I've always thought I need something slowing me down for small movements or close tracking but lets me quickly turn around... This might just be what I need. Thank you!
Youre such a good teacher Mr Four!!
Let’s go welcome back to yt king
hes back. wicked
Omg. I have been searching for this for so long without even realising it. I started off playing tanks so my sens was high, and I always thought I was just dogshit at DPS characters. I tried practicing DPS at a lower sens and it was so much easier but then my muscle memory would adjust and my tank gameplay would suffer. So I ended up just going somewhere in between just to play all my favourite heroes but it ends up feeling just a little off for both. Thanks so much dude I'll give this a try. I wish windows had adjustable mouse acceleration like this but I'll definitely use this if it means I can play the way that feels right to me.
YEAHHHH SUREFOUR UPLOADDDDD
Been using mouse accel for over a year now, definitely worth a try especially if you have a small mousepad or just want the best of both slow and fast mouse sens. Thanks surefour!
small mouse pad yes, but also if one is a wrist aimer and not an arm aimer, check this video out plz
@@shadowstorm9363 Yeah, I've been using mouse accel for 3 years now, I'm using it because I'm a wrist aimer even though I have a decently sized mouse pad
I just can't play without it anymore, it feels so natural
@@kurushimee I'm a wrist aimer too actually but tbh I didn't know about mouse accl b4 this video, and now my aim is so much easier and better after using mouse accl actually

i like how u break down how to do it stepwise , thank you
This could be very useful for someone who doesnt have too much space to move their hand. Lets not forget that not everyone has a 10 meter desk with a 5 meter mousepad
Best fps educator on the planet.
He’s aliveeeee!!!!!!!
old quake players most of them do use mouse acceleration, it comes down to the curve.
basically it is a higher skill ceiling feature, not for everybody, but you cant just blindly reject that.
anyone got link to the old version?
When i first swapped to pc i had mouse accel on but didnt know, and eventually turned it off bc i always heard its bad and not to use it. one of my friends even laughed at me for it. I feel like i definitely aimed better with it on though, but never went back bc i figured id just need time to readjust without it. This is absolutely making me reconsider
Mouse accel is pretty bad if its the base uneditable version native to windows. Generally mouse acceleration wont have an adjustable high/low sens and also will have no limit which can make it feel awful if you don't naturally use a very low sensitivity and have VERY stable hands. Minor jitter on medium to high sensitivities will lead to a lot of inconsistency when using base mouse acceleration.
just do

I'll def try it, thx for the clear explanation ! Being a wrist aimer sucks

I quit OW forever on Saturday but here I am, watching your vids
Super glad to see more people talking about mouse accel in gaming! I very much also recommend taking a look at CustomCurves mouse acceleration. Much more intuitive curve creation and options imo!
Is it ban safe?
@@albert_samus I play all Riot games, Overwatch 2, and other arena based shooters and haven't come across any issues at all yet. They upgraded a few months ago to a new driver to make it ban-resistant and overall better, but at the end of the day any company can decide at any time that any external software or hardware is "unsafe" so no matter what accel you use you will run an admittedly low risk of it being blacklisted down the road.
@@HEKnTEKn thanks, as long as it's not banned now i think it's safe in the future, some pros actually use mouse accel all the time

My BOY is back!!!
i also used mouse accel, but turned it off about a year ago. i don't find too much of a difference honestly as long as you're comfortable with it
Needed this
can you find out which version of mouse accel you're running? the newest version doesn't have the same setup
After trying it a bit if anything this profile it seem as if you're using a mid range sens+dpi (like the 5-6 sens and 800 dpi you're accustomed to), but without introducing the stuttering high sens gives when you're slowly aiming at a target, and obviously without being constantly locked into the issue slow sens brings - unable to do 180s without breaking your arm, it feels very similar to that so for those that don't mind a bit of stuttering (very minimal) try mid range sens instead because at least it's consistent. This mouse accel seems to bring a new type of problem where no setting you try feels as intuitive as normal non accelerated aim does.
So I am giving this a shot, the part I need more understanding is: what are the other options that show in mouse accel, what do they do? Is weight the weight of your mouse? Or is it a parameter that affects something else? And the offset is how much it takes until the mouse accel starts kicking in from what I see in the graph, but what is the 0.35 acceleration parameter for, is it how much it accelerates? shouldn't that be the sens multiplier? sorry about asking all of this, it's just that I'm looking online and no one answers these questions without entering a lot of math which I'm too dumb to understand tbh lol
So let me know, because my profile is almost perfect buttttt the 180s are not working perfectly (sometimes they overshoot and sometimes they undershoot) which doesn't happen with non accelerated high sens, which is why I needed to know what each parameter does :)
Edit: found a video, so weight and rotation seems to be things you don't have to change from default, and accel is how fast your sensitivity will increase - so basically you have to test flicking until you find a comfortable accel setting that doesn't over or undershoot, still trying to find my own lol
I hope you found your answer in these 4 months, I started using mouse accel from today, and I use a different setting so I'm not sure what weight does. But from my intuition, sens multiplier is just a flat multiplier for the whole graph, essentially like changing your dpi, but keeping the same graph as seen in the software.
I'm not too sure about acceleration, but I guess it just changes the gradient of the curve, becoming steeper as you increase it. (If someone else sees this, please elaborate/ correct me)
The reason you're overshooting/undershooting is because you're not moving your mouse at the same speed or distance every time. Remember that the sensitivity is only increased as you flick at a higher speed, rather than the longer you are flicking for.
This is actually useful, damn!
Thank you!
Surefour, champion of the wrist aimers! Thank you for saving us champion.
Trying this and liking it ! Maybe I will finally stop to jitter so much in my tracking
quality content is here people
What would be great for tracer tracking and ashe shooting?
I got into this stuff about a year ago and made the swap from Linux all the way to windows just so I could use the driver turns out steel series nice have their own hardware level mouse accel u should check it out.
As a wrist aimer that struggles with the small tracking movements, I thank you for this video. I'll still be plat garbage. But at least I'll aim somewhat better.
Awesome! I notice you have quite the curve (if you know what I mean). Which software are you using to compensate for that?
poggers settings
Always have been using it 😎
Savior of my wrist.
Just used this again to update for OW2 and it's an INSTANT improvement in my accuracy.
how about if u go to a lan or tournament, would it be too much of a hassle to set that software up ?
or in some tournament computers you cant even download other software what would u do then
Always been using it 😎
So I actually played with accel on for like 3yrs but got a new pc and guess I've had it off for the last 8 months lol
Two questions. 1. How do you figure out the offset? just play with it and what feels good with you, copy what yours is? some math? 2. Turning back on the windows setting, using my mouse for normal pc stuff feels weird. I actually play on 1600dpi, 5 game sens as well. Its either sluggish or fast on desktop/browser etc usage. Just a case of getting used to it again or is there something i can fiddle with to help that?
While typing this comment up i read one below me and it mentioned the program accel feels different than the windows accel. So maybe i should just grab it and play around with it.
Good stuff
Sounds great... but how tf would you do an accurate flick without your sensitivity going into overdrive? Or would just just have to stop flicking..
So would you say this applies to other games too? Should I only do this for Overwatch or nah?
Nice. 👍
Oh em gee he’s back on yt
Jz i admire people still telling me that accel is bad for our aim. Fkn look at the graph, dudes. Awesome advice, took a week to start mlg flicking and half-map-away tracking. Good stuff.
did you play quake when you were younger? ik a lot of quake players use accel
Interesting but idk if I could use this as a tank player tho. Since most tanks either don't require a lot of aim and/or purely tracking. I mean maybe it would be helpful playing Dva and you see a graviton flying past you but then again if the grav is passed you, you've probably already missed it.
I could use this in OSU and other games
do you have to enable mouse acceleration ("enhance pointer precision") in the windows mouse setting? Or only using this raw accel program?
No, just use raw accel. The windows mouse accel is garbage.
Do you still use these setting and/or update the program?
for sure
How do you find the acceleration? He didn’t change it all, is it a universal accel
Pog
I play with a g502 and I use the dpi switch to do the same thing. Whenever that button is pressed mouse dpi goes from 800 to 1600. I don't really aim with my wrist though, and I'm afraid mouse accel would activate on accident during flicks
We both got the same mice lets go.
sheeeeeeeeesh
Poogies!
Do you ever get a lot of wrist pain aiming like this?
i love you i try on apex i play 1.05 800 dpi cs go and 1.90 on apex now my sens so perfect thank you men !

If you said it in the video, I’m sorry if I missed it, but how long would you say you’ve played/practiced with this setting? I’m interested in trying it. Seems especially useful for people with limited space.
I love mouse acceleration for gaming and I can't find a good sensitivity for games like Valorant and Overwatch due to their not supporting mouse accel. So this video is extremely helpful! I have a question for you or anyone else in the comment section though. Actually 2 statements followed by a question. I've gotten used to windows mouse acceleration for games and I've gotten quite good at aiming in Destiny 2, for example, because it uses that sensitivity altered by windows mouse accel. I tried raw accel's recommended settings to mimic windows mouse acceleration and it didn't feel at all similar to what I've been playing with, so I decided to uninstall the program. So the question is: Does anyone have any recommendations for settings that mimic windows mouse acceleration or should I just try the method that Surefour talked about in the video?
i would say try the method in the video, im no expert but i would strongly imagine its alot more consistent then windows which is probably why it dosent feel similar. Cause windows isnt consistent at all
what sens do u use
Do you still use the same graph?
I should? I did and i like it, thanks man, my wrist also thanks u, and my shoulder
I really hate this setting. It always fucks up my flicks
Version 1.6.1?
I thought OW doesnt account for mouse acceleration?
is this only high sense though?
