Roy Firestone still has it. Roy really doesn't interview his guests, it's more of a conversation where the guest does a lot of the talking. Great job Roy. You've inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a sports interviewer.
The Cowboys have never been the same to me after Jimmy left. He turned that program around and took it to new heights. It is a real shame, Jerry Jones didn't think the same. Jimmy could see real talent and knew how to coach them. That was the one thing that gets my goat, the Cowboys don't seem to know how to pick a great QB any more. I miss Jimmy, was always hoping he would come back.
I sure miss those days. I was living out in Houston during those years and it was the best football experience ever. Wow it was fun watching the cowboys take the field
Totally Enjoyed every minute of this Interview! Have always loved Troy and Jimmy! Thank you both so very much for all the wonderful memories! Roy, A big thanks to you too
Roy: When my older kids were young (10 & 13) and the Super Bowl was in Joe Robbie Stadium, the kids asked me to take them to the NFL experience. So, we went. We looked around at the various displays and finally the kids said they wanted to go see the "Punch, Pass & Kick" competition. I told them to meet me in 30 minutes right where I left them (the days when you could do that). I went off to a tent where they embroidered hats and silk screened shirts. I loved that stuff. With the competition on, the tent was empty except for the machines and the folks putting the hats or the shirts in to be bedazzled. Behind me, a man asked, "Can I hide in here with you for a bit?" I turned around. It was Troy Aikman. We just hung out and chatted about life, kids, and the world. Everything but football. After a while, I said I had to go [get the kids]. As I left, he said, "Nice to meet you." I got the kids, went home, and told my wife about it. She said, "So, did you get his autograph? On a shirt, a hat?" "No," I told her. It would have spoiled my "NFL experience."
I met Jimmy very briefly in Vegas - I was at a business conference, Cesar's Palace, he was in the casino. I walked up and said hi, thanked him for the Super Bowls. He wasn't that friendly, guess he wasn't in the mood to be approached in a casino.....oh well, still an excellent coach. Cowboys would have had three or four SBs in a row for sure if Jerry kept him!
That is a very cool experience. You didn’t bust his chops about what everybody wants to talk to him about. Just two dudes talking about life. Class act man. I met Troy when I was a Sophie’s I. High school after his 1-15 rookie year. I worked at a clothing store in the Arlington Parks Mall. He came in on a Tuesday night right as I was about to close the store down. He wanted 5 pairs of Levi’s Silver Tab jeans, I’ll never forget it. He was wearing a NY Mets ball cap and black sunglasses. I told him “I’d recognize that golden mullet anywhere.” He laughed and said “and the nose too?” And that was it. Just chill, down to Earth.
Man this was good stuff. Thanks Roy. I think for a 4 or 5 year stretch Aikman was the best QB ever. He played in an era that was a lot different than today.
It's amazing I stumbled across this RUclips video or should I say it found me. Many years ago on several occasions I would type in what happened to Roy fire stone. I remember I didn't find much I really enjoyed him back in the day I am very pleased that I have found Roy again. I hope he keeps his interviews coming I will be watching.
first time i have seen roy firestone in decades......i really enjoyed the aikman interview and after watching the interview, i realized how much i have missed your insightful interviews that i used to watch decades ago!
I remember after this one game in '93 when the cameras showed Jimmy walk into the locker room, and Nate Newton, Erik Williams, and Kevin Gogan were all sitting there in the locker room with a table lined up with a spread of pizzas, burgers, and wings that they were chowing down. Jimmy took look one at them and then said "How 'Bout them CHOWBOYS!!!!!!!!"
Been a JJ fan since I was 13 in 1991-it’s so cool to have read so many books and seen so many stories about the greatest Coach I’ve ever seen. Love these posts. Thanks!
I could hardly believe that Troy survived his first year in the league. The Eagles in particular just thrashed him and bashed him when they played together. Jimmy still isn't in the ring of honor. Criminal.
Its not in any way easy to be an nfl coach.. Jimmy could do all of the job...like parcells like landry like bellichek like shula like lombardi.... jimmy could do it...
Amazing interview! Jerry screwed this up so badly. This team was good enough to have won 5 or 6 if it weren’t for the egotistical owner. And here we are with nothing since then.
I’m From ft worth, Dallas area and everytime we drive down the highway or go shopping,.. the 90’s era cowboys are always thought about and those good ol days. You guys are and will always be Dallas
Jimmy is the man. Jerry ruined the whole thing. Jerry loves the Cowboys and he tries but his ego and pride got in the way of the purpose of the owner. Let the coaches coach. Let the players play. The only way Jerry can salvage his Cowboys legacy is to bring us a ring. And that doesnt seem likely soon. Or get an effin coach that can coach and stay out of the way.
Troy. Class. Jerry Jones won one Superbowl with Barry Switzer...just the 1st in a never ending stream of yes-men. A coach has to be the "Big Kahuna"...not the owner. Merchandising and schmoozing are Jerry's forte. The Cowboys are a financial dreadnaught, but football garbage scow manned with misbehaved chippers and painters. No team has ever had a Superbowl "three-peet". Jimmy's Cowboys would have done it. Way to go Jerry. You boneheaded ego-maniac. it still stings.
Jerry forcing Jimmy out. Is, by far. The worst call, in the history, of sports. Not just football. All sports. I’ve been a Cowboys fan since 1977. To put in perspective. How bad it’s been. In a couple of years. If the Cowboys don’t make a Super Bowl. It will amount to the same amount of years, 29. That Tom Landry coached. PATHETIC!!!!
Troy is such a class act. Such an asset for everyone that loves the Cowboys and football in general! Thx Roy for bringing this to us!
Roy, first time I have seen you in years, you are still one of the best!
Roy Firestone…are you kidding me, what a treat!!! One of the best interviewers of all time. I actually did smash the subscribe button.
Roy where the heck have you been??? I was such a huge fan of your work and my friend you have not lost a step. You are a legend in my book.
Troy Aikman, always a class act...
Roy Firestone still has it. Roy really doesn't interview his guests, it's more of a conversation where the guest does a lot of the talking. Great job Roy. You've inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a sports interviewer.
Aikman ,well spoken awesome quarterback and my fav football player ~
Hello Keith
how are you doing today?
The best interviewer to ever do it. Smooth, cool, calm, and informed.
Big Fan of Roy Firestone 💯Troy and Jimmy Johnson are 2of the best human beings ever 💯💯💯
Awesome coach....thanks jimmy we miss you

Thanks for the opportunity to see Troy & hear what and how true friends many times are developed through experiencing difficult situations.
Firestone back in the saddle with a great interview.
I sure miss those days. I was living out in Houston during those years and it was the best football experience ever. Wow it was fun watching the cowboys take the field
It hurts when he was let go! It bother me alot. At this time was living in Dallas, not no more. Respect his teaching as a coach....
A big chunk of my fanhood died that day.
Totally Enjoyed every minute of this Interview! Have always loved Troy and Jimmy! Thank you both so very much for all the wonderful memories! Roy, A big thanks to you too
Amazing interview. Jimmy Johnson is a treasure.
Hey Roy, just discovered you have this channel. Great stuff from Troy. Thanks for all you're still doing!

In the categorical list of Sports Show Host / Interview GOATS Roy Firestone gets my vote.
Great interview - thank you!
jerry needs to put him in the ring of honor …. today…TODAY!!!
Jimmy was an awesome Cowboys coach! 💙 Jerry made the biggest mistake letting him leave.
Roy I loved your interview with Rod Tidwell.
first time i have seen roy firestone in decades......i really enjoyed the aikman interview and after watching the interview, i realized how much i have missed your insightful interviews that i used to watch decades ago!
I still blame Jerry
We all do, because it's his fault.
Troy aikman well spoken good guy great quarterback Dallas cowboys love n respect you troy
A thin skinned ego
Don't sweat it dude....the NFL is and has been rigged/scripted and bounced by the refs since Super Bowl 3
The worst wanna be GM in league history.

Roy Firestone has been a one man show on the road.

Best interview ever!
I lived in Valley Ranch in championship years..Troy and Jimmy would job everyday around lunchtime..🏈👍
Yes, Better Than You Hoped. Touching.
Good wholesome stuff from a Florida boy who lived and breathed Dallas Cowboys
Used to love ol Roy's show on espn
Jerry absolutely destroyed the relationship and pushed jimmy into early
retirement, what an incredible coach!
i loved and miss him
Jerrah pushing Jimmy out has to be one of the greatest blunders in pro football history.
Roy, the last time I saw you was when you were making Cuba Gooding jr. cry in the movie 'Jerry McGuire'.
missed ya Roy
I could hardly believe that Troy survived his first year in the league. The Eagles in particular just thrashed him and bashed him when they played together. Jimmy still isn't in the ring of honor. Criminal.

Roy, what about bringing the old Sportslook crowd back for a reunion? Ted Green, Alan Rothenberg, Stu Black and Howard Rosenberg?
Roy, you should have asked Troy why there are still military flyovers at NFL games. I’d be interested in what he’d have to say.
I didn't know Roy Firestone was still alive
Amazing interview! Jerry screwed this up so badly. This team was good enough to have won 5 or 6 if it weren’t for the egotistical owner. And here we are with nothing since then.
Still sad that Jimmy & Walsh were not coaching the same time. Would have been epic.
This was all Jerry wanting to be a football guy. If Jimmy had stayed around to draft and picked a replacement
Boy havnt seen ol Roy for ions.
Wow, how cool would it be if Jimmy Johnson called you and said he was going to stop by your house, hang out and check out your fish tank.
Jerry Jones screwed up the best football team that the NFL would have EVER witness!
I’m From ft worth, Dallas area and everytime we drive down the highway or go shopping,.. the 90’s era cowboys are always thought about and those good ol days. You guys are and will always be Dallas
Roy, don’t be a snob in airports when a nice person tries to say hello.
Hey Roy, how is your suckup OJ interview after his 1st assault coming along?
JERRY will never Learn, that year hurt the boys, did again when he did not sign D Murry!!!!!
Jimmy was an Great Cowboys coach its to bad that Jerry couldn't see how great Jimmy was but Jerry wanted to be the light so that why he let him go.

Wonder what happens to him when they get to the SEC?
Well yea,,,
Boy, Roy got old.
