It's funny because when Americans hear about "Lloyds of London", those of us who know the name anyway, it's thought of as a posh place that does auctions, except not as much as Christie's, and work for rich people. Them having a commercial for regular people feels odd.
What about that deeply pretentious black and white advert from the early 90s where the dad writes a letter to his son who's chucking spears with Africans and finding his "world". Complete load of old rollocks, it was, but I could use a laugh.

Wow. That first ad calculates to an annual interest rate of 9.15% a year to turn £100 into £154 over 5 years. Very nice.
