- Our first video and it's all about refurbishing the paint of an Oak gumball machine. Vend Craft owner and host, Justin Banner, takes you through the process of disassembly, cleaning, sanding, reassembly, and painting as well as the "unique character" of this gumball vending machine. How does it turn out and does it all go smoothly? You'll have to watch to the end to find out.
Vend Craft is dedicated to the art of refurbishing, restoring, and customizing gumball machines, candy dispensers, and other vending machines. We teach by documenting the work we do on video here on RUclips. We also provide services for these machines for the Los Angeles area.

Super helpful vid :)
I have a blue Oak Astro/Vista that Ive always wanted to paint black and then add a space theme to it (painting on stars, galaxies and such) and this will be really helpful when I get around to it :D (I potentially have a location to actually use it at now so I can dig it out of storage and get it cleaned up again-- fortunately I thought ahead and made a photo album 6 years ago when I first got it, of it dismantled down to the coin mechanism gears for deep cleaning)
I just finished up my second OAK machine. it was on a double mount but missing the second machine so I took the single I had and installed it on the double mount along with the one I restored today.
Finally a channel that shows the technical aspect of the gumball machine/gumball machine business. Keep em coming!
thank you I've just purchased my first 2 with 3 holders in them and have my first location yeah !!! thank you my machines were filthy
Currently in the process of restoring 11 machines at the same time. Thanks fully I have an electric sander.
Great video. So much info on these great machines
Thanks! Be sure to subscribe and tick the notification bell to get alerts when new videos are released. Otherwise, RUclips won't let you know.
nice video Justin, been debating on getting an old Oak machine for my kids market booth -this answered many questions about disassembly/cleaning/painting.
Glad to hear that! Don't be afraid to reach out on the Facebook page (facebook.com/VendCraftUSA) if you have questions. I just put up a video about coin mechanisms you might find interesting, too.
Good stuff to know thank you
Thank you! I'll have more service and maintenance videos coming next week, too. Won't be quite as long as this so it should take a little less time for editing, too. :D
Please do a video on cleaning out coin mechs and lubricating
What grit sandpaper to use to clean it up before painting
Good info man!
Thanks! Be sure to watch the coin mechanism video, too!
@@vendcraft308 watched them all already. Good stuff. I gotta restore a rack so that restoration video helped a lot
Why would you not take the paint of the chrome with thinner
Could you actually list the things you used in the video incase anyone would want to follow step by step?
Where can I find that little hopper ramp piece that was rusted? I can't find one online (probably because I don't know what the actual part name is!) Mine is all rusty as well
Thanks to RUclips, I'm not seeing comments until recently and only because I happened to check the studio app. Sorry for the year late reply. Check with a company called Gumball Stuff. They have been extremely helpful for me and getting hard to find parts.
Any idea where I can locate Eagle locks and keys?
Try Gumball Stuff.
what paint did you use?
I used Krylon on this machine, but I have used Rust-Oleum for other colors, too.
Where are you located I can’t find your Facebook page..??
I actually shut it down. I had given up on this thanks to the Great Pause until recently. I'm coming back.
Just an update, my Facebook page is back up and I also now have a website. Check it out at vendcraftcustons.com
Not taking apart before painting is just being lazy.
Yet, people will still do it.
Turn the tap off bro
