a: someone used a anti-tank missile to destroy a bunker b: two people used explosives to destroy another bunker c: someone with flamethrower burned out a bunker
The carnage of the Battle of Okinawa (the worst battle of the Pacific War), and the carnage of the other battles in the Pacific, were the context in which the atomic bombings -- and the non-atomic bombings of Japan -- took place. (I say that as a man who is married to a Japanese woman, and who has in-laws in Japan, and who has travelled to Japan several times.). A conventional invasion of the main islands of Japan would have been Okinawa times a hundred. And it it hadn't been for the bombings -- and for the Soviet invasion of Japanese-occupied Manchuria -- that land invasion would have occurred, and besides killing an enormous number of Americans, it would have killed moreJapanese civilians than were killed in the bombings. War is hell, and therefore hellish tactics that shorten a war are necessary.

Great movie about Desmond Doss but no way a bazooka blows up a bunker like the start of the clip lol. It's an anti tank weapon and the explosive charge barely rivals a grenade when used as anti infantry. You may use one to neutralize an MG nest but it's not gonna blow up a whole house and everyone around it like it seems here. They'd have to be storing amounts of high explosives right next to the MG for that kind of reaction and that's generally considered a bad idea.
Yeah, most people don't realize that anti-tank weapons are pressure weapons that kill by shooting a concentrated stream of molten metal that punches through tank armor and kills all those inside due to the overpressure created within the enclosed crew spaces.
@@JFS3 I mean sorta you're only half right, portable anti-tank weapons aren't capable of causing crew compartment overpressure like you think. There's a well documented account I read where a Sherman was penetrated by a panzerschreck. Only the radio operator died because he was directly in line of fire. All other crew survived without wounds, and the only really significant effect from the weapon was killing that one man and setting his clothes on fire. Oh, and a small hole in the side of the turret as well, of course. You generally hope you hit an important crew member, equipment, or the big bang ammo storage.
@@RussOlson-pl3kf it's a movie trope that is extremely tired. It gives the idea that man portable anti-armor weapons can blow up entire houses. They really can't. It takes some other explosives/incendiaries being present and a huge stroke of luck. Even if enemy HE materiel is present it's still likely it won't even go off unless hit directly. Tanks hit by bazookas for instance do not suffer catastrophic damage unless something critical is in the direct line of fire. Soldiers were taught where ammo was stored for this reason so they could aim at it. HEAT is a very specific purpose explosive. A bazooka as anti-infantry is still extremely effective, as it concusses and suppresses the troops near the blast long enough for attacking troops to get fire superiority and assault the bunker in close quarters with frags, flamethrowers, etc. but if you shoot a bazooka at a bunker the absolute most likely thing to happen is the machine gun stops firing for a minute and you better have planned what to do next, before someone gets back on the MG there. It was the equivalent of a hand grenade in anti-infantry use, just point-delivered from a distance. Not a big fireball boom, just a big puff of smoke and noise, and whoever is close to it gets one hell of a headache if they're not dead/unconscious
With robotic technology they need to design flamethrowers that don’t require a human operator to carry the tank on their backs. Word is flamethrower operators don’t last long.

Thanks to the large number of cameras, we can see some of the realities of the war in Ukraine.
