Love the sound of a 12" subwoofer but can't afford to loose the boot space? No problem - checkout my spare wheel subwoofer! It works perfectly and is neatly hidden beneath the boot lid.
I must say i am from south africa and i just love the idea u have of putting it in the rim ima do the same but ill be using fibreglass to get an exact tight fit love your ideas helped me alot .
Hi Wise One, thanks for the comment and for watching my video. Give it a go for sure! When I started this project, family and friends all told me it wouldn't work and I was wasting my time but I'm glad I didn't listed because it's AWESOME! That rattle can't be a garage door, its most likely the lisc. plate on the trunk lid. I have heard it way too many times not to know it. Just put some deadening material on the back of it.
Yes, it's still working very well! No special material required, I used MDF because it was the cheapest. Just make sure the box is glued together to keep it air tight. I also used some silicone around the home for the wires.
Hi Christopher Thanks for the comment, I did try putting a hole in the bottom of the original box but it completely ruined the sound. I ended up going for a sealed box and the results sounded much better. Like / Share / Subscribe.
Hi Jaspergers - thanks for the comment, the answer is no. It doesn't muffle the sound, I'm using a low pass filter on my head deck so the sub only has to product low bass notes but it's crisp base and I've already modded my wife's car with the same excellent results. I did have to use a towel to wrap up the spare tire tools as they were vibrating but that was a simple fix.
Did you bother to look at the size of the box needed for the sub? There isn't enough space and you need to port it... A shallow 10 inch with the top of the box flush with the bottom of the trunk floor so it takes the space of wood that covers the spare is better because it would allow proper air and give maximum depth. The other option is to use a sub that is built for a box that isn't ported. Your concept is good, but next time do your research on the subwoofer requirements before building a box.
@@ShivaSharma-zs6gt thanks for the comment, the first interation of this box was ported and it sounded like crap, it sounded hollow and weak. The box needs to be sealed due to its size. Unexpectedly I've received a lot of criticism on this project from friends, family, fans and I've come to the belief that everyone seems to think they are experts on this subject when it really comes down to what sounds best for you. Nevertheless, I decided to actually build one, I found out what works and what didn't. In my opinion, it sounds amazing, fits perfectly and is exactly what I wanted. Hope this helps.
@@MaximumDIY That subwoofer only needs 0.9ft3 of airspace. It does look a bit small to me for airspace, but it will still work and as long as you're happy with it that's what matters. The worst that can happen would be that you loose some lower frequency response and it is a bit punchy on the higher bass frequencies.
@@TheLionAndTheLamb777 thanks for the comment, I noticed having the box screwed down into the body of the car using the spare tyre anchor point really helped with the bass transfer. All in all, I'm extremely happy with the result. I love having all the sound from a 12"sub with a completely empty boot. Worth the effort!
Hi Sam Give it a go, music sounds soo much better with a 12" sub in the boot. As for the led lighting strips, you're rite that's so 90's show case scene. But thanks for the comment - you've given me another idea to work on.

Excellent Job! Very professional how it screws down into the existing Tyre mount!

Wow! That’s absolutely brilliant! Mate seems you’re from Australia as well!
Is there any way I can get in touch with you mate?
Great idea I’ve thought of this before but never acted on it. Currently both my cars have the spare underneath. 🙄 So I won’t be doing it soon.
The longest intro in the entire history of intro's.. 🤣🤣🤣
Btw great job

os this still working ?? and is there any Spl kind of material do we need for this or this can be made with the help of plywood ??

@@MaximumDIY thank you so much bud you really helped me saving my boot space 🫡
Why don't you make a hole on the subwoofer box?
I did try this but it made it sound terrible. It has more bass and is more punchy when sealed.
this gunna make me build one. I just don't like closed/sealed sub boxes

does it muffle when the tire cover/floor is put back over it?

How can I buy one

Hoping it's not a shallow mount
Amazing
