    I removed the hatch cover and replaced with a Birch box 4¾ deep added a ¾ ring to gap the magnet downward firing DD redline 612 shallow sub tuned box to 30hz still have full access to everything under and 100% cargo space can not describe the bass it's way louder than my old JL TW3

    You maybe want to put a nylock nut on there and just have the appropriate tool to remove of needed back there. All the vibration otherwise might regularly loosen that up.

      @@RayanAlzahrani-sv8yx the jbl one is really nice and can take a little more power than the Diamond ones but I have not heard the Diamond one in person. It’s nice to have nice bass (not saying it’s the loudest or hardest hitting bass) but I will definitely shake my rear view mirror. And other than raising my trunk floor, I have no sub box in the way.

    We have a 2015 Murano with a factory Bose spare tire subwoofer. Has two fairly beefy 5" 2-ohm woofers but they only get 28W each out of the Bose amp 🤣 This Diamond on a decent amp looks quite interesting as a replacement

      Lol, no, just no. The JBL passive Stadium Basshub is much better than this. This vs. the JBL active, OK,,, maaaaybe. In that case, it depends greatly on the amplifier used and its hardly "apples to apples," as they say.
      Hearing them both in different setups/vehicles isn't the same as testing them in the otherwise the exact same setup/vehicle.

    A small 500 watt amp paired to a 300 Watt RMS sub seems a bit overpowered.
    Also, did it sound better or worse with the trunk floor liner down?
    Hopefully this or the JBL will fit flush in a 2023 KIA Sportage!

    • @ThomMurphy
      @ThomMurphy Год назад +1

      If the JBL will fit, go with it. Look now, today, it's on sale. Even at full retail, the price difference is more than justified by the performance difference, IMO.

    Just an observation: Is the nut holding the structure in place the same size as a lug nut? If not, then it seems that a person with one of these would need to add a secondary wrench to the tire change tools to get the spare out.
    Granted, one extra wrench vs all that trunk space seems to make it worth it.

    • @cup_and_cone
      @cup_and_cone Год назад

      The hex nut is supposed to act like a jamb nut so it all acts as one piece. Once the height is set, take it back out and tighten the hex nut and wing nut against each other really tight.

    I really want one of these, but imagine I am going to have the same issue with it being too tall. In my Blazer the cargo deck has a hinge and is flush with the bottom of the rear hatch so raising it isn't really an option. I will probably have to go with the slim version but I feel like that is a little bit of a compromise. I wonder how the sound compares between this and the slim version.

    Q- I have a Honda S2000 (2-dr convertible) and not a lot of trunk space. If I were to get the shallow amplified version to fit in the spare, do you think it would provide a decent sound/output for the car? The spare sits maybe 24” from the head position.

      The JBL passive version is better than this, and their active version is better than DA's (or CV's). This vs JBL's active, without consideration for longevity, comes down the amplifier used for this in terms of performance around 45Hz and above, below that there's potential for some back and fourth in terms of SPL at a specific frequency.
      If this type of solution is better for you than a custom box, the JBL Stadium BassHub should be top of the list, IMO, unless it won't physically fit...

    Would this or the cerwin vega version be a suitable upgrade for the factory Bose woofer in my Buick Regal Tourx ?

    • @ThomMurphy
      @ThomMurphy Год назад +2

      This is better than the powered CV. The passive JBL, Stadium Basshub, is better yet, objectively, by a significant margin.
      I've tried most of the products in this segment, and the CV ones are made inferior, while the JBL ones are made superior. The powered DA ones aren't anything special either, meaning no better than than the CV, overall. They appear to be made in the same factory using many of the same components, which are inferior to the components used for the JBL powered versions.
      In this segment, IMO, the only good reason to buy something (currently available in the market) other than JBL is if they won't fit without more modification than you want to do. Maybe price, but if you wait for a sale, that's much less of a factor, but then, I suppose, timing may be.
      No matter what, a halfway decent "real", boxed subwoofer, will almost always be a more capable solution. Most of these are "good" or "impressive" only for what they are. That is especially true when, as they often are, when they are set up in a system that's not processing the signal to correct for factory bass rolloff.
      Maybe with the passive systems, that's a bit more likely. In the case of the JBL (passive) Stadium Basshub, when setup properly, meaning tuned and with plenty of power, it can be straight up impressive, not just for what it is (or the price). No, it's not going to hit like a properly ported box with 3000w RMS, but it can still impress.
