On the back of watching this on a black and white telly I went to the record shop and the fella made a phone call and told me it had been imported and I could pick it up next weekend. I was listening to the Stones, Zep, Floyd, Dylan, but this geezer for some obscure reason introduced me into Blues in a rebellious way. Then I came across Rory Gallagher and Robert Johnson etc. and it gave me a broad spectrum and horizon with Music. All of 17 years young and I feel so lucky that that any genre of music if it's good lifts my heart and soul 40 + years down the line .Thankyou Mr Thorogood.
This is the sound that the hollow body guitar was made for. George Thorogood is the most dynamic live performer I ever saw on stage. This man could really work a crowd.
I saw George Thorogood live at an outdoor festival. He wrapped a Bandana around his head and was ready to rock. He rocked the crowd with his slide guitar and charisma for over an hour! He would not quit! Here he even did a few Chuck Berry Duck Walks. He’s one of the few who knows how to do it right! One great song after another! He’s great live and I thought that’s real rock n roll. No Gimmicks! A bad attitude and a slide and a few power chords. When people heard the slide for Bad to the Bone they went nuts! Good times!
George Thorogood is part of my Top 5 of best concerts I have ever seen! The mid 1990's at Sun Tan Lake (no more) in Riverdale, NJ. Hot Tuna opened beautifully, but George and the Destroyers kicked MAJOR ASS! Sounded so good! He OWNED that stage!!!
0:46 Ride On Josephine 6:49 Cocaine Blues 9:49 It Wasn't Me 16:24 I’m Just Your Good Thing 21:11 Madison Blues 26:56 New Hawaiian Boogie 32:13 Who Do You Love 36:51 No Particular Place To Go 44:16 Johnny B Goode
Liked this band when it was a trio. The sax in the newer lineup sounds great and all, but George's early set up was killer. The energy these guys put out was intense.
If this dude had turned up at my Scottish college, I’d have dropped out and hit the road with him, and my beat up old strat, and my beer bottle slide. Grew up on this, absolutely awesome- thanks for posting this video, it truly encapsulates the raw nature of the destroyers, and shows future generations this is how it was done. Lonesome George could teach his idols ( the Rolling Stones, Beatles, American master blues men like screaming Jay Hawkins) a few things. Definitely earned his place in the hall of fame, absolute legend!🤣
I saw him live at a summer festival once. He had a Bandanna on his head and he rocked the place! One hour of pure Rock n Roll! I thought, now that’s Rock n Roll! What a player and showman! He plays a mean slide guitar! 🎸 Everyone was drained after the show. We were tired but it was a good tired! He wore everyone out! 👏🏻🎸😎
Saw George just 8 weeks prior to this show. He did 2 nights at the Cabooze Bar in Minneapolis. Two sets each night. Was there both nights. Got all 3 guys to autograph my copy of "Move It On Over" LP. Still got it. Have seen them another 4 times since, but it was never as good as those first 2 nights.
Just found this. I have seen him dozens of time since the late 70s. Some of the best concerts. Never disappointed! Although his later ones over the few year you can tell age has really caught up with him. That has not stopped me from being a fan!
Seen George in 1990 I believe we got there late the crowd that could not get in smashed all the plate glass windows out front we sat in front row in front of speakers I ripped my ticket in half put them in my ears high octane show he played for 2 1/2 hours great show queen e in Vancouver
Love him doing this love all his lives but disappointed that I'm just your good thing is the only live one on here I can't find no other lives make no sense all his other songs are but I will cherish this one forever cuz the first time I heard this song I'm just your Good Thing❤❤❤❤❤ I would be your good thing for sure George just love you you're handsome sexy you got it all I'm very sorry that you lost your wife but she was lucky to have you for as long as she did much love respect on tons of hugs but I would still be your woman❤
Saw George thorogood it was 79 or 80 at the UCLA Royce Hall theater students all stayed in their seats, my friend little Joe and I stood in front of the stage by ourselves most of the show, have always look for old footage of George thorogood, this is the first I've found, thanks for sharing💙🍺🌮🌮
Man! I never saw this before! I’m a fan & saw them in concert during my College 1975-1979. Saw them in Europe several times , but this recording of fabulous talent is so over the Top!! Man. Love y’all. ( tell anyone to hear ) I was from Columbus, Ga, by went out on U.S. & Europe. GREAT!! Nothing like this today!!!!
Saw George/Destroyers, yes in Delaware in 78 or 79. Link Wray opened. Destroyers brought the house down! So glad this place served beer, me and Rob being just out of H.S. RIP Rob Morris...
I know, I know I just said it but this is a Awesome upload Calum W91 TY. This is early George and he couldn't be anymore 100% awesome here. I love this.
I went to a bush party in western Canada c. 1982 and when 'Madison Blues' was played (loudly) over someone's stereo, the 500 or so people present started jumping just like 24:57
Ha! We were there when George came up through the bars and clubs in the Philly area. I didn't think there were any videos of the original trio. This was it. Thanks George!
I was studying at Hatfield Poly at the time , some friends of mine had tickets and I went along with them - I'm somewhere at the back waving a West Ham scarf about .
I remember watching this when it was first broardcast, I was at college then playing in a band so I was well into this sort of thing at the time. He just blew me away. I just searched for this in the vain hope it was here, can't believe I've actually found it. I'm so grateful you uploaded it.
Wow! From the early days! What a great performer. He can really create a good sound. Before saxofones... Great performance before he started to perform as a slide guitarist. wow!
He puts his iconic copper slide on at 21:15 and leaves it on for Madison Blues, Delaware Slide, and Who Do You Love. I'm pretty sure it goes back to his earliest days. I saw him in the mid 70s at JC Dobbs on South Street in Philadelphia and he was already using it.
The presenter at the beginning, giving the introduction, "... the album called Move It On Over ...". Then a few seconds later, it's funny the way George moves right in at his wrap-up, he's thinking "Yeah, move it on over, ya windy Englishman!"
Funny how I can still remember that intro 42 years later [ I was somewhere towards the back / middle ] and yeah , George just strode onto the stage as if to say ' This is my concert , you've had your say ' .
Definition of ROCK & ROLL. What George lacks in technique and chops he more than makes up for in ego, attitude, sheer energy and unmatched showmanship!
Last call, Jack 1 strong adhesion 2 high and low temperature resistance 3 no whitening 4 high strength 5 waterproof and corrosion resistance 6 ageing in dignity resistance and impact resistance 👁7 Not yellowing 👃🤣🇺🇸🐴🫀🐬Calson Associates circa 1920, Jack?🐬
When The Destroyers first started, they sounded more like a blues with a punk edge trio, but it didn't feel bluesy enough until Hank "Hurricane" Carter stepped into the fray.
No Sax, or Second guitarist. In my opinion George and The Delaware Destroyers, never sounded better. I saw part of this show on T.V as a 17 year old & I snapped up his albums and singles.

I agree. The best concert I ever attended was George at the Baltimore Civic Center in the 1980s.
Saw GT two nights ago and he is still ROCKIN 🤘🏼😎

These early Thorogood recordings are just incredible. Such a fantastic sound.
Yeah lot of good noise coming from a trio- very sparse and clean.
Yeah way better than bad to the bone.

George could dance like a Wildman. Jitterbug up and down
Glad you got to see him. I bet it was one F$#! Of a show. Rock on!
Nobody can jam like thorogood!
Happy to say I own a copy of this gig. Love the Destroyers! 🎸
That's '79 and it still sounds damn awesome!! This will never get old!! Just love him!!
Wow, you got that right. Timeless.
Il giovanotto prometteva bene! Grande
This is freakin’ gold- my guitar hero at his rawest! What a legend, no one rocked it like Lonesome George! 👌
0:46 Ride On Josephine

9:49 It Wasn't Me
16:24 I’m Just Your Good Thing
21:11 Madison Blues

Thanks a lot for the playlist!
Early is the best of every thing
Thanks, mate !
Totally underrated. Amazing live performances EVERY time. Respects and loves his audience who shine it right on back.
The real deal. George Thorogood. One of the best rock performer. Very underated
Massively underrated guitar player and a great singer/front man, thank you for sharing.
Liked this band when it was a trio. The sax in the newer lineup sounds great and all, but George's early set up was killer. The energy these guys put out was intense.
This felt more like a merging of blues meets punk. Think of Sting and the Police but more guitar driven.
Agree. Sax was a nod to Elmore.
I just think that the sax player could not take off from his day job to go with the band.
If this dude had turned up at my Scottish college, I’d have dropped out and hit the road with him, and my beat up old strat, and my beer bottle slide. Thorogood is the real deal. His raw rockin' blues is badass 🔥🖖✌️🇱🇷
Recien descubro este genio del RockandRoll, gracias, me hizo el día espectacular. Ver su ritmo y energia es increible. Saludos desde Ecuador.

He is the man we got to see him before my wife died last year
Seen George in 1990 I believe we got there late the crowd that could not get in smashed all the plate glass windows out front we sat in front row in front of speakers I ripped my ticket in half put them in my ears high octane show he played for 2 1/2 hours great show queen e in Vancouver
The BBC should release all these concerts they recorded, on to DVD.
They are sitting on a goldmine of material.
@P3RSY You could be right.
Cds are dead
Really good music. Someone really needs to do a movie. Great times! Special original music.
Absolutely brilliant 🎸🎸🎸
I love this one. George is so good just him and the two band members. I love it. No matter when George Rocks the best.
Merci for this posting.
George and the Destroyers at a College Student Center? Perfect.
Holy shit George is the Mack daddy of them all!!
Thank you for posting.I remember feeling back now this in my bag, fist clenched and thumping the air. It still cuts through the same way.
God, I remember this on BBC2 when it was shown, amazing to see it again.....
Never seen him on bbc2, but used to watch him on the Old Grey Whistle Test.
With the soft spoken Bob Harris.
Thursday nights....babysitting.
Where has this been all of my life, first saw GT and the Destroyers in 84 at Milwaukee's Summerfest, George is the GOAT
I would LOVE to have been at this concert!!! ❤❤❤❤
Incredible
Imagine just playing one absolutely rockin’ set for 40 years , love this dude! 🤣💪🏴

Saw him open for Heart and The Rolling Stones 1980? at Folsom Field Boulder Colorado. He stole the show!
Man! I never saw this before! I’m a fan & saw them in concert during my College 1975-1979. Saw them in Europe several times , but this recording of fabulous talent is so over the Top!! Man. Ol’ George! What great footage.. What a performance! Thanks for this !
Thank you so much for sharing this, I love George Thorogood.
I love George! What a talented man! Nothing beats his talents.
Saw George/Destroyers, yes in Delaware in 78 or 79. Link Wray opened. Destroyers brought the house down! So glad this place served beer, me and Rob being just out of H.S. RIP Rob Morris...
Long live The Delaware Destroyers!!! George is one cool dude. A solid rhythm section behind him too with Jeff Simon on drums and Billy Blough on bass.
And they are still in the band! I saw them last week in my hometown and it was still a great show....
Ole Lonesome George !!!!! Rock on !!!!! ❤❤❤
Hadn’t seen this show since it was originally broadcast on BBC tv - great to see it again!
I know, I know I just said it but this is a Awesome upload Calum W91 TY. This is early George and he couldn't be anymore 100% awesome here. I love this.
The live music you could see at a humble Polytechnic in 76-79 was awesome. Beer 12p for a pint IIRC
Awesome !!! I had a high school buddy who saw The Destroyers around 1979 and he got to see this when it was new.Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This made my day ! Thanks for sharing George in my college days ,he was big time on campus ! Rock on !
I need WAY more of this in my life
I went to a bush party in western Canada c. 1982 and when 'Madison Blues' was played (loudly) over someone's stereo, the 500 or so people present started jumping just like 24:57
I remember the 3 piece band, but when they added Hurricane Carter, he took them to a new level!
Who's Hurricane. The sax player. Yes. Giganic PLUS!
Been a fan since the 80's! Awesome performance!
awesome ❤❤❤❤
Wow he was freaking awesome back then too..
SGL
Love me some George
George Thorogood....thoroly good George!
So Amazing. He sounded just like John Lee Hooker from the get go. You know where he got that influence. I love it.
And he is humble ....gives credit to original artists ...puts on an amazing concert !
Someone seriously needs to make a movie about the Destroyers. Do it before old George kicks the can!!!
Just saw George with Fogerty and he don't look like he is retiring yet
I remember watching this when it was first broardcast, I was at college then playing in a band so I was well into this sort of thing at the time. He just blew me away. I just searched for this in the vain hope it was here, can't believe I've actually found it. I'm so grateful you uploaded it.
Saw this too when it was first broadcast.Bought his L.P,s after this .GREAT.
Wow!
From the early days! What a great performer. He can really create a good sound. Before saxofones...
Great performance before he started to perform as a slide guitarist.
wow!

Lonesome George just gittin’ her done! This is epic.
An awesome talent. Love me some Thorogood
Not a lot of people there, But those that were, they will never forget that rockin" show. Everyone got close.
Great camera work! Thanks for posting!
Jimmy says "then turn the sound off and see if you still think so"
No need to be a virtuoso when you and the guys behind you can swing it. Good stuff.
Now that slow song you just played I love that.
Magnífico vídeo!
That is great. ❤
Goldrings on This Raw Rockarolla🤩🥳😎

Wow !! Killer gig !!
Please come back George to Australia mate 😀
You are the absolute BOMB!!
I forgot how much early George sported a Jagger vibe.
Definition of ROCK & ROLL. What George lacks in technique and chops he more than makes up for in ego, attitude, sheer energy and unmatched showmanship!
Perfect sentiment. He has BAD...ASS...showmanship. That encompasses the whole package for him in my book! 😊
and enjoyment. you can tell he loves what he's doing!
George Red Guitar (Old Red) had the best sound. sad he retired it...
nobody plays a guitar like george t!

How cool to be knighted by King George. 13:36
He's so young here.
I used to deliver papers to his parents.
Still unknown, great at that time.
dos melhores de sempre
its crazy to see the guy that invented the blues. very cool history here
Young, George.
Look for the show from the Cellar Door in Georgetown Wash DC broadcast live by WHFS.
They've been trying to kill me every since I've been hear guys. Six years ago guys.
No Sax, or Second guitarist. In my opinion George and The Delaware Destroyers, never sounded better. I saw part of this show on T.V as a 17 year old & I snapped up his albums and singles.
Never heard him in trio format,of course i like it,but i miss that sax from later stuff
I can't belive there are so few views.....!!
Saw George in 1982 in Rotterdam opening for the Stones. Great show, great sound, both much better than the Stones.
