    As a Life long Whole Boat mechanic, I've have been involved in raising many sunk boats using many different methods, But never has it been so simplified! all this time all we needed was a canoe and a comealong! who knew! Thanks for the Enterianing content! Keep it Up!

    Most people cannot stand up in a canoe without tipping it over, you managed to stand up in yours and hoist an 75 lb gas powered pump in and out without tipping over. Kudos to you my friend. Kudos to you!

    I used to work for a guy that did water recovery in the winter. When a truck or ice shack would fall through the ice we would take her back out. Its not fun. Mistakes can easily be made if there isnt a well thought out plan in place. Even then, the plan rarely comes together the way it is supposed to. That being said Isaac, excellent work!!

    You could have used a 25 ft strap "come Along". Lighter and easer to use with more take up then cable units
    Dad's 33 ft shrimp boat sunk (steel hull with a 671 Detroit) during a flood. We rolled it back over, on it hull; wrapped the cabin with plastic and cramped whatever we could find in all the deck holes. and put 3 pumps in it. It took time (for all the water coming in places) however it floated. After the hull popped off the bottom and all the holes were above the water line it dried real fast. He spent the next 3 weeks taking everything apart and cleaning . Lucky the water was still fresh and the salt water had not gotten into it

    I never quibble about success, however I'll give you my approach. A scuba regulator first stage (the tank end) makes the same pressure as a typical air compressor (125 - 140 PSI). So you adapt your compressor hose (with a quick disconnect and air chuck) to an old second stage regulator hose, and you now have a portable (even submersible) air compressor. The next step is to acquire a small assortment of automotive intertubes and rig them with loops of plastic rope with carabiner for quick attachment.
    For reference: One car size will lift a motor cycle, Two car size will lift a VW, Two car size (front bumper) + one truck (semi) size inside will lift an Econline Van and Four Car Size will lift a 9000 Lb hydroplane off the bottom (from 35 ft) of the Ohio river.
    While I never had a failure, note that the air will double in size for every 33 ft of lift so never add more air than is necessary to begin to lift. When the van got light to the touch, I just grabbed it off the bottom and with a heave, shoved it to the surface from about 25 feet (most bizarre sight ever).
    In your case, I would have made a sling out of two tubes and some plastic strap and centered them under the heavy end. Once floating, slowly tow it to a ramp or beech where a wrecker could pull it out. FYI...I have used these techniques about 40 times over the last 56 years.

    You need to do this on a day when the wind is blowing away from your house. Then just untie it and let it float away. Would not be the first time someone solved a similar problem that way.

      This. He might need to tow it out into deeper water ...in the middle of the night (wink wink) and then set it adrift---and let it become someone else's problem. But kudos on him for his plans to beach it and cut it up.

    Makes me think of that channel that just films boats passing in and out of the rough Haulover Inlet.
    Imagine seeing a junker like this trying it in rough sees. Would be a few million views on that if it got into difficulty!

    When you cut the boat up, salvage all useful parts for future use, including the motor and transmission if it isn't ruined completely. I've done this to several boats on Lake Ontario that were abandoned and left to rot.

    Given my sometimes vindictive nature, I'd be tempted to find the owner of the boat, tow it to their property, then pump it full of water and re-sink it for them. I'm glad you're a better person than me!

    • @johnwhitty1236
      @johnwhitty1236 3 года назад

      The lad in the canoe does not own the river near his property that's not the way it goes. Evidence in the video and audio points to that boat being moored. So salvage rights cannot be applied. If anything canoe lad has no right to be at the boat and any damage done by him can be claimed for by owner. U do not pull a boat by the inboard engine or the gunnels. No one has a right to touch a moored boat. Even meaning tied or anchored.

    • @jasonpatterson8091
      @jasonpatterson8091 3 года назад +5

      @@georgebamber6871 In a boat-ish place a rotten old boat like that is not really worth much of anything. It's possible that someone might want it, and it can't hurt to try, but if you just want it gone then a day spent cutting and disposing is less time wasted than dealing with idiots from CL who don't show up when they're supposed to or who get there and try to get you to haul the thing off for them or start trying to make demands of you.
