    Ive had this noise for a couple of years. Progressively getting worse. I was getting geared up to repleace the trany. Took my bearing out and i could barely move it. You just saved me a wack of money and time. Awesome video. Thanks.

    For me, this was your most useful video of all. I hit an object with a nearly new $725 HRX217HYA and immediately noticed a disturbing vibration that would disappear when I engaged the blade. Obviously, here's the solution. I followed your method exactly and installed a new SKF 6204-2RS. All fixed. Thanks a bunch!

    Thx for your excellent video, this was the problem on HR217 and repaired it with your tips. However this repair is not for the faint of heart ! You need a big vise to remove the bearing just like yours. And on HR217 you need to use the old bearing that you removed behind the clutch plate to press in the new bearing when you use the vise. Your video is excellent and it worked for me.

    Good info. Thanks.
    My blade still won't engage fully. It does slightly, but when a load is put on it from average height grass, it quits spinning. The bearing has a few rough spot but is not making noise like your was. It could use replacement but is not frozen and spins freely. Was else could be wrong? The belt seems ok as the self propel works fine. Is the clutch bad or the belt stretched? I would appreciate your insight. Thanks.

    I have a similar issue with some vibration. The Noise seems the same when the blade is engaged or not. I took the clutch apart and the bearings seem to be ok visually and by feel. However I realize there could be some tiny runout that is not noticeable by eye or feel. Is that the case here?. Could you tell the bearing was bad by sight and hand? Also there are 2 bearings. Any reason you did not change both? Thanks! Good video.

    Good video Bob. Should really help someone with this problem and save them money by just replacing the bearing instead the whole clutch assembly with bearing in it. I agree that some of the carb adjustments and Governor springs are easier to get to on the steal deck hondas but the nexite deck mowers cut and mulch better the deck design is a little different between the steal and the nexite decks I really like the newer nexite mowers with the versamow system it works well and they mulch and bag great. Have as great week. Tell the little hello and we are praying for him. God Bless!!!

    • @doublewide6

      I have a newer Honda with the Nexite deck and it mulches anything really well. I didn't know the different deck designs make such a big difference with how they cut, but that would make sense because airflow has a lot to do with it.

    • @nashguy207

    • @DieselBenz
      @DieselBenz 6 лет назад

      al b if you do a lot of wrenching, an impact is a great investment. Makes brake jobs on cars a breeze! Just don’t use it to put stuff back on as you can over-tighten. That’s where the other must have investment comes in: a set of torque wrenches! I got a Pittsburgh set of three for like $70 on amazon. They’re accurate (buddy who runs a shop read an article that compared Pittsburgh to snap on and it made this claim) but not going to last if you use it everyday.

      manolo miranda hopefully the gasket that goes between the carb and the engine was new. If it leaks you’ll get poor performance due to air leakage (affecting air/fuel mixture.) Play with the adjustment screws on the carb. Sounds like the air/fuel mixture is wrong.

    what's behind the idea of two blades right in alignment , I could see if they were staggered for mulching?

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  6 лет назад

      Together the blades create high lift, also if the bolts don't go through both blades the top blade will need spacers to make up for the difference, or a different hub design. In manufacturing respect an extra blade staggered would require 2 more bolts adding to the bottom line as far as cost. Just a guess?

      The mower is older probably from the mid 90's. It was owned by a landscaper and they beat on it pretty hard, but it does not smoke and works well. I would guess it has pretty high hours on it. I'm putting new tires on it, and it will make a decent machine.

    Lol lawn mowers don't need clutches it's just another thing that can break on these things 😂 there a clutch on this free one I found today and I'm like wow why would someone pay $250 more for a clutch on a push lawnower you're gonna be using for no more than 50 minutes a month 😂

      Maybe I will. I will ask the guy that wants this mower if he wants to put on a new set.

    Can’t get the crankshaft bolt off, it just turns the engine.

      I have the Honda HRC2163hxa --- and I don't have an impact wrench -- so I took off the pull start mechanism on the top of the mower and was able to put a 19mm socket to hold the crankshaft from turning -- I had a helper hold the top nut as I turned the bottom bolt -- it came off in no time

      I did it, it turned out the fuel filter in the tank was restricted a bit also I found the one of the control springs was hanging up. Got it now.

      Yeah they are a bit harder to service, seems like they are a little bit fancy and that takes time when repairing.

      @Daniel 045 lol I totally get it for commercial use but we sell them up at my job too.. I get old ladies telling me to fix their Honda mowers clutch that has a bad bearing. Just kinda rediclous to me for your average consumer
