I'm a trauma, mental illness, and eating disorder survivor. I've been exhausted all the time, struggling to get out of bed, and your videos always help me so much, Jessamyn. I live in a fat body and rarely get to see people my size doing things like this, rarely get to hear people talking about "picking my belly up and moving it places" in a positive way. This was so judgment free, so fat friendly, you're very thorough on modifications we can do. I feel at peace and energized after doing yoga with you. I went through another trauma a few weeks ago and haven't practiced since, I usually do your 8 minute yoga flow, but stumbled across this and decided to try it. Wow. I have so many positive things to say about this video! I was required to take a yoga class for one of my kinesiology courses, and my mind instantly jumped to Jessamyn. I am a plus-size woman of color, and I found this video not only helped me feel good but also helped me create a safe space for myself. Most of the yoga instructors on RUclips are thin white womxn and I often find myself intimidated by their videos. I felt like Jessamyn was with me while I was doing this! Her instructions were clear and she went at a pace that was right for me. She also allowed lots of room for variation and longer time in different positions, whereas most instructional videos move quickly through each pose. Thank you for creating such a wonderful sequence Jessamyn! :)
oooof LOVED when she said that she just picks up her belly and moves it around! I have a belly and I always feel so self-conscious about it, but she just works with what it is. I feel like so many people who do yoga videos are thin and I never get aspects of my body in these positions addressed.

My favorite thing about this video are the audible sighs. Yoga feels good! Stretching feels good! I appreciate hearing someone else just feeling it and enjoying the poses. Mmmm.
I've been extremely inactive since the pandemic hit and I've not been able to keep up with most yoga for beginners because they never take into account that when you're heavy, holding simple poses like downward dog for too long is killer on the arms, wrists and palms. I do tend to like more fast-paced yoga, but this felt absolutely incredible and I didn't have to get come out of poses halfway through. Thank you, Jessamyn!!

Yes! I’ve been looking for someone who does plus size friendly yoga! I’ve tried so many other videos with instructors who are thin (nothing wrong with that of course) but I found that a lot of the poses I struggled to physically do because my boobs, thighs, belly, etc were in the way. She gave great modifications for those things and made the routine so much for accessible for me!!!
Amazing.....thankyousoooomuch....I’m 69 years old and this is the first video where I feel into the practise with sacred intention unconditional love for my gloriously slow large old body and my 20 year old mind...... hahahahaha I’ll be back each morning see you soon
I love this. Made me laugh out loud when you say a good hip opener will really take the wind out of your sails. I was definitely feeling that!! So glad to find your videos. Namaste!
I used to be so flexible at my smallest and now being bigger I feel defeated not being able to do all those same poses. Most videos feel unachievable - so I just quit. This sequence looks achievable, relaxing and it's delivered without judgement and actual knowledge of what some bodies need and can do. Also - you really get into the stretches. My body is crying out for some of these deep stretches. Now I know I will be able to do them. Thank you.
Thank you so very much beloved. I appreciate you. Love & Light. I love how I have grown since my Awakening and now I accept all things that I at one time did not accept. Everything that is good for us, they have labeled as demonic and that is so far from the truth. Thanks again.
I just watched this video today. I didn’t even attempt to do it because I didn’t feel physically or mentally ready. I’m struggling with increasing neuropathy and Polyarthralgia, and this morning was pretty bad. As someone who used to do the lotus position easily, I’ve become saddened and discouraged by my decreasing abilities. After watching this video, I’m committed to trying this practice this afternoon and not worrying about “getting it right.” Thank you for your grace, encouragement, and tenderness in practice.
this woman is amazing! bravo! most yoga instructors have bodies that are so athletic that it's intimidating to watch; this shows that there are no limitations; anyone of any size can be fit and can teach others by example. thank you for posting!
amazing! i'm so grateful to have a 30 MIN (!!!) free class with jessamyn. i can't afford an online subscription but really love her teaching. she is an amazing part of the yoga community and damn, i just hope she's having a great day tbh x
Great to see someone teaching yoga for specifically those who are overweight. It's hard trying to lose weight sometimes because a lot of exercises are too much for me at my current weight! I recently tried following a beginner yoga flow and some of the poses were so far past my abilities because of the weight I'd have to hold up, like a reverse tabletop pose with one arm extended
I'm not a beginner, but I so so so enjoyed the way Jessamyn explained and walked through the different postures. This felt so good this morning. Thanks so much!
Yesterday, I tried Yoga 🧘🏾♀️ for the first time. Couldn't finish a move, had no balance, no understanding of my body's placement. Found you this morning and I did it. 15 minutes in, and I feel good, calm, and accomplished. Going to finish the last 17 minutes at lunch or after dinner tonight. Thank you. I feel inspired. 💖
1st time yoga attempt. While doing the hip stretch/opening the hips while J is telling us "our hips hold so much tension. They hold the very moment(s) we wanted to flee or fight. We deserve to be able to hold that truth."" The tears fell. A dam broke. Wow. Such a release. Thank you J.
I cried too! And when our chest opened up in camel. I've been feeling really broken hearted after taking in a lot of vicarious trauma. When she said "it deserves presence. It deserves absorption. Take it in" I felt like it was the first time in a long time I was able to open my heart for something positive and for myself. Powerful!
Oh my gosh I could cry. I've been trying to get into yoga for YEARS, but being a size 26/28 I've never found anything accessible (or welcoming) to me. This was incredible and relatable. Thank you so, so much.
This has been my first practice since having spinal surgery & a degenerative disc disease diagnosis 7 months ago. Thank you for creating such a beautiful space for people who need a boost.
Hi! So a couple of days ago I started exercising and doing yoga after workouts. For the first time in my life I'm actually enjoying it! I have a background rich in traumas that all have one thing in common - body-image problems and hyperawareness of my body. So I used to get a ton of panic attacks and s**cidal thoughts once I got an intrusive thought about the way my body looked and how disgusting it was. Your video is amazing and despite me being an absolute idiot in terms of yoga and falling over a couple of times, I got almost no intrusive thoughts! I felt good and allowed to make mistakes, which is new to me. Thank you so much for making such content, I think I'll stick to your channel for quite some time! ❤️
i felt so safe to just be in my body for these 30 minutes, so present with every feeling and sensation both physically and emotionally. i was feeling so completely stagnant and now i feel like my body is mine again. i'm so grateful for this video.
I finally found someone I can actually follow and learn from. I will be doing this video for the next month along with my new challenge of walking 2 miles a day. I am really happy with the instruction Thank you
Great job and instructions! I Girl I actually went out and bought some yoga blocks just so I could follow along! Now I don't have to feel ashamed when I exercise!
I am a survivor of abuse and sexual trauma, always wanted give yoga a try and THIS video made me feel so good and strong and it was so easy to follow. You are an amazing teacher and I can't wait to see more of your videos. Thank you so much
This video has been so helpful! I've used it a few days in a row now and I really appreciate the validation and work around that are offered. This video makes me feel comfortable with doing Yoga again!! 💙
Thank you for this lesson. I personally felt like there was no judgement and I did not feel guilty for not making a posture that my body was not ready for.
I just want to take a moment to say thank you. Your video was so amazing. Truly an inspiration. Thank you for your guidance and knowledge. I have tried yoga many times. This was the first time it felt safe. Im not sure how to explain what I mean. I noticed I was teary eyed by the end of this video just because I don't think I have ever genuinely appreciated what my body is capable of. I was an athlete all my life. Now a mom and into my thirties, I'm always shaming myself for not being able to preform the way I used to in college. Today your video helped me to understand, its okay. Your video reminded me to be grateful for the air in my lungs, the sun on my skin, and the love that surround's me. Thank you.
Jessamine, you have changed my life. Doing this guided yoga practice is only the second one I’ve ever done. The first one left me feeling like yoga is not for my chubby, 44 year old, NOT flexible body. I’m going to keep working this practice until I can do it 💕 because I want to do it and now I know I’m capable of doing it 💕 thank you.
Just finished this yoga for the first time cos I wanted a strong beginner and I usually go with just music yoga videos but what a powerful experience and I felt so guided in so many places
finally someone with a body type like mine!! i do this video in the morning and when i first heard to ‘move your stomach’ i was dazzled, it really did make the pose that much easier, thank you so much
Thank you for this video. I have been trying yoga for a while and could never get it right. Thank you for making me feel comfortable doing yoga...big butt and all lol! Love and light ❤
Just completed this first video with you, this is my first time doing yoga. I swear, I just want to burst into tears of joy. You have no idea how much I have needed this both of confidence and encouragement, to see someone who looked like me. My whole life has been nothing but judgment on my appearance and my flaws. And with that weight on my shoulders oh, I have never really had the strength to want to change myself for the better and improve for for me and only me. This is definitely a start and I just want to thank you so much for providing this free video to us oh, God knows that I probably won't be able to afford paying for anything right now. Thank you so much and U have just earned another follower and fan. God bless you beautiful.
I’ve dabbled in yoga in the past but never found the connection. I’ve done a lot of hard work and healing these last few years. I found this video and now I do this almost every day. Thank you for showing me this beautiful practice and showing me how to get in touch. You are so radiant and lovely. Namaste Jessamyn🙏🏻
Wow. I have had a few good yoga instructors but Jessamyn - you are amazing. You explain things so clearly and I feel like you understand the difficulties people have when starting yoga and give practice solutions . I’m watching while eating breakfast and hoping I get the motivation to practice later today, but feel a little more confident with beginning. ❤🌟🌟
I made the decision to get up and start yoga again. My regular studio is temporarily closed and I'm still pretty new. I'm so grateful for this video showing a big girl with a belly doing yoga. Now I know what to do with my belly when I'm doing these poses. It was that camel pose for me. And then when I moved back into a seated pose, I started crying; thankful to God that I am able to practice today.
I'm so glad I found you! I love yoga, but I have never found instruction that suits my level and my body, until now. Your teaching style is so gentle, yet somehow powerfully motivational. And I've never heard anyone speak so directly, without judgement or pity, about how to manage poses where your big bum or belly might get in the way, and that's something I've desperately needed! I cannot thank you enough!!!
not to expose myself as connection starved this pandemic but I did start crying mid way through your sequence from the idk intimacy of it all? just really felt like I had to share that
I was very happy to find jessamyn Stanley on instagram. its nice to see someone of my size doing yoga, and she encouraged me to try yoga. this sequence has been helping me alot the last couple days and those hip openers literally relieved so much tension I cried. This is such an amazing video!

Thank you SO much, it’s amazing to have done an actual beginner class that is accessible to all bodies and abilities 😭 I didn’t think it would affect me that much, but after struggling through other classes with my body this one is so judgement free and what yoga should be. Thank you! 💙
I'm loving the energy of your practice!! I am looking for inspiration as I prepare to introduce a friend with EDS to yoga for their first time. I want to become an inclusive accessible yoga teacher, and I believe that yoga is for everyone, so thank you for making your amazing affirming content. Tbh I would do this practice any day, and I have 4 years of yogi experience. I looove these slow delicious subtle movements you guide through 💞 Breathing is the key!! Have you seen her app called The Underbelly? Lots of yoga classes there and also around youtube, you'll find more.
A D thank you sis! All I wanted was to practice yoga with someone who looked like me! A black woman😊been looking all day
I love how Jessamiyn is so engaging I am going to go grab my yoga mat and blocks.... Thank you for this video!
A'Shiah Naomi yes queen! Same 👑
Yess!! She's a RUclipsr. Type Her name in the search bar and I believe she has more Yoga vids!
Thank you.
Aaaah, the 1rst instruction I have completed! Thank You.....you had me at "I move my belly" total inspiration
I have 3 cats if we close a door it's like that hahaha, but I love it so much, your voice is amazing, you are so calm and beautiful ♡
this woman is amazing! bravo! most yoga instructors have bodies that are so athletic that it's intimidating to watch; this shows that there are no limitations; anyone of any size can be fit and can teach others by example. thank you for posting!
amazing! i'm so grateful to have a 30 MIN (!!!) free class with jessamyn. i can't afford an online subscription but really love her teaching. she is an amazing part of the yoga community and damn, i just hope she's having a great day tbh x
Her book is SO GOOD omg. Didn’t know this video exists.
So glad I found you!!! You make yoga so reachable and doable! Thank you!
This has to the best beginners video ever. Thank you Jessamyn you have really made Yoga easier and accessible to people like me. 🧘🏿♀️
I smiled a lot during this practice. I needed this. And I needed you. Thank you. 🙏🏻😌
I love how she explain it with details and doing it not too fast. It's really helping.
i felt so safe to just be in my body for these 30 minutes, so present with every feeling and sensation both physically and emotionally. i was feeling so completely stagnant and now i feel like my body is mine again. i'm so grateful for this video.
Thank you so much for doing this! Your yoga instruction is much more accessible and relatable.
I love your positive, accepting attitude. Thank you for sharing your gift.
The yoga practice was excellent - your instructions were very clear.
Thank you for this lesson. I personally felt like there was no judgement and I did not feel guilty for not making a posture that my body was not ready for.
Loved this class, loved not worrying about my ability compared with the instructor or casual comments promoting our diet culture, THANK YOU JESSAMYN!
I’m going to keep working this practice until I can do it 💕 because I want to do it and now I know I’m capable of doing it 💕 thank you.
this is the first yoga video i've ever done that i've felt genuinely relaxed after. i feel seen and heard and not judged and i am grateful
I cried during the hip opening stretches it was such a great physical and emotional release
What a fantastic instructor!
Thank you for your instruction! I am greatful for your candidness and guidance.
loved this sequence as a beginner. it was gentle and accepting, yet showed me things I didn't know I could do with my body!
not to expose myself as connection starved this pandemic but I did start crying mid way through your sequence from the idk intimacy of it all? just really felt like I had to share that
I haven’t been one with my body lately and this video helped me get back to it. Thank you So much, super welcoming energy
I was very happy to find jessamyn Stanley on instagram. its nice to see someone of my size doing yoga, and she encouraged me to try yoga. this sequence has been helping me alot the last couple days and those hip openers literally relieved so much tension I cried. This is such an amazing video!
You too are Such Roundies
Great beginner video! I love your approach! Thank you!
this was absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing your energy and practice with the world. ❤
How wonderful and refreshing this video is, I love Jessamyn's voice, energy, and yoga flow practice.
Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
i love your style, the world needs more of this!
I am a Business English Trainer and give Meditation this is the best Video about Yoga in ages! This Lady is really charismatic I truly will follow and recommend it! You have a new fan!
Thank you SO much, it’s amazing to have done an actual beginner class that is accessible to all bodies and abilities 😭 I didn’t think it would affect me that much, but after struggling through other classes with my body this one is so judgement free and what yoga should be. Thank you! 💙
This was the first Yoga Sequence I really had fun to do. I never felt this safe in my body. Thank you!
It's not about what you can do, it's about how you feel.
