    My forgotten Frankenstein zucchinis are usually fed to the chickens. I usually only eat the small ones. I will be taking another look at one that I might have missed from now on. This recipe looks very good...thanks Bonita.

      WW Suwannee haha thank you for your message, and I agree this zucchini is one I would have walked pass and got a dozen small ones. But I was thinking that's a lot of pickles and the other half I chopped and put in with my mustard cabbage pickles, My new favourit. Enjoy Bonita

    Oh my goodness, you sound so like my dear mother in law, who I miss so much - she grew up near Stephenville. She used to make something she called Prosser Brook Chomp and I think the mustard sauce was very similar. I have a ginormous zucchini to rival the one in your video, and will give this a try this afternoon.

    You’ve inspired me to make these pickles. We Started a garden this year and grew a few zucchini’s and we are trying to eat more homemade with less processing. Is there a printable version?

    Hi Bonita! Just wondering... here in the US we are not to use flour or corn starch in any kind of canning per USDA. Is this something allowed for your guidelines? They look amazing and would love to make them! Thank you for all your hard work. Blessings from Ohio, USA!

    • @bonitaskitchen
      @bonitaskitchen  4 года назад

      Hi Pam: Thank you so much for your message and for stopping by, I've only made my pickles with a little flour for thickening, I've never had any problems with it spoiling. Our elders for years would make cabbage pickles, mustard pickles and bottled them for the winter months. If you have any concerns just make a half batch to see if its something you feel comfortable making. I hope this helps and thank you for stopping by and leaving a message. :) Bonita

    I am intrigued, and want to try, but hate sweet picked anything. Would this recipe work without the sugar, or is it needed for the canning process?

    • @bonitaskitchen
      @bonitaskitchen  3 года назад

      Hi and thank you for your message and for stopping by, this is a lovely pickle recipe and yes it do need some sugar so the pickling will be balanced and the vinegar don't over power the sauce. I hope you get to try it and just add the amount you think is good for you, taste it in between. Enjoy and visit our website www.bonitaskitchen.com Bonita

    With the zucchini can you re-use the seeds for planting?

    • @bonitaskitchen
      @bonitaskitchen  4 года назад +1

      You know Robert I have no clue about farming, my dad was a farmer and I've tried to grow everything and no luck. My husband only plants flowers and trees. But it sounds like it can work maybe germinate them first and when they start to seed then plant in a small pot. But this recipe for zucchini pickles is amazing and I use the pickled mustard for my potato salad and sandwiches. so good. enjoy Bonita
