Good info. Back in the day, 1970s, we didn't have all the special tools you kids play with for AR work, we used holes in our work benches in out of the way places to hold our punches and act as a third hand for jobs like this one. Geoff Who has been around awhile.
This is exactly the video I was looking for. I am new to the AR platform and my magazine catch is very difficult. I almost have to bang the clip in there to catch it and I don’t want to damage it. Thank you.
This was the first thing my friend & I learned how to do when we were changing his magazine release on his M&P 15 Sport II & when I helped him build his Anderson/Wolf T91 AR
I guess I took it for granted that everyone would know how to do this already. Now, show everyone how to put in the front takedown pin, detent and spring without a specific tool and just using a pocket knife! 😂
Next time you may want to put the little screw driver in the vise to keep it from moving. We know you have the old thumb tool, but for those that just coming into the AR platform, it’s a good idea.
People sell tools to install these? lol When I was installing one on my AR-10, I managed to get it too tight and basically turned it into a california compliant AR that I needed an extra tool to push the mag release past the receiver to get the mag out, so I loosened that up.
Yes, chopsticks, the most versatile assembly and cleaning tool made! And they're usually free with most Asian restaurant meals, just ask for extras if you actually use them to eat. 😉
Push the Button with the rubber end of a Pencil, works
Came here to say that. Works like a charm. Also #forthealgorerhythm
Came here to say this, but it's already been said! Been my go-to method for years.
The "shut up nerd" got me 😂 thanks for the info!
I use the erasure end of a pencil, thanks for sharing!

Hi there, you made that look really easy. You are always informative. Thank you
Note: if the bolt lock/release is installed already, it may need to be removed to allow install/change of the mag lever-button.
The moon is in line with the..... SHUT UP NERD! I love that because so many gun guys are overly critical on things that don't need to be critiqued.
This is handy knowledge for those of us in NY or CA where 10 round magazines are permanently locked into the lower.
I did not know about the second 'stage' of tightening. Good stuff!
They sure go on easier than come off
Ball point pen works great

Awesome, thanks for the tip. 👍

I keep a chopstick on my workbench for this and some stubborn takedown/pivot pins.
His mic is just fine
Thanks 😅
Easiest part to install in a lower
I don't always use a tool. If one isn't handy I simply pull further outward on the magazine catch and keep rotating it.
You have a vise right next to you. Use it to hold the tool you were using.
Would ike to see install of Maritime mag release madee by Geissele

“Shut up nerd”
I gave you the like for the "Shut up nerd." comment... I agree.
And install that before you install the bolt stop.
chopstick, no scratch

So, after you've drilled out your block of aluminum...
Move the mic 🎤 up or they need to get you a new mic. I think your mic is bad.
