Thanks for putting this video together. I'm brand new to racing, and the TX16s. I'm running into an issue with my radio when trying to add the widgets. I'm not seeing VtxChannel or VtxPWR. Any suggestions on why that might be? I have copied them over to the radio and see them in the WIDGETS folder.
Hey there! Do you know which version of EdgeTX you are running? There is always the possibility that a older version (or maybe a very recent version) of EdgeTX isn't compatible with the widgets anymore. The radio in this video uses v2.9.0.

Sorry for late response, been on the road racing. Still no, since there currently is no way to add more vtx indexes in betaflight :( For my freestyle quad, I just use the channel switching, and then either video off or max power.

However, is there a way to integrate the video shutting off completely in the event of a failsafe during a race (for example receiver wire getting severed in a crash)? Currently with analog, I can achieve this in Betaflight by tying the "vtx pit mode" mode to the "failsafe" mode, which will shut off the vtx in the situation that the receiver link is lost. Since you have stated to not use "vtx pit mode" in this tutorial, have you found a different way to achieve shutting off video in the situation that receiver link is lost?
Great question, and its actually pretty simple to solve. In Betaflight's failsafe tab, you can choose to use either "hold" or "set" for any given channel. Default is hold (keeps last received data), so you would use "set" for the aux channel the video power is on and set it to the range that is for video off (in this case it should be any number below 1500). Hope this helps!
@@formula-fpv Thanks for the reply, I will be trying HDzero for the first time and am hoping I can keep the same functionality as my analog racers. Looks like I should be able to do that now! I might have some more questions on this video whenever the system comes in the mail.
@@formula-fpv Verified function on this correctly in FAILSAFE tab (on left side under POWER & BATTERY), whichever AUX channel is used for setting " 0 " power, change dropdown to SET and input the value accordingly whether it be the high side at 2000, or low side at 1000. Test by turning radio on and see video, then power radio off.
@@formula-fpv Got another quick question: Since you have the system setup this way, do you have the VTX team race mode ON or OFF in the HDzero vtx menu?
@@skyreadyrc5873 Team race mode is off with this setup. If you wanted to use team racing mode, you can set it up in your ELRS for team racing mode and that will failsafe and turn off video using the method above this comment. In which case I still would assume the vtx team mode stays off.
The video switching is likely possible as long as you can assign a trim switch as a global variable and use it to increase in increments for your aux channel. However the widgets likely only work for the TX16S.
@@brycellewellyn3483 the functional part of this will work with the boxer, but it isn’t possible to add the widgets to see your channel and power in the screen since the boxer uses the monochrome display.
Hey mate! How about vrx setup? For example i have skyzone steadyview x vrx and i want to switch both channels and bands with my upper trims the same way i do it in ExpressLrs lua/ TBS agent scripts with vtx admin, using my backpack, so both my vtx and vrx will switch simultaneously. Is it possible?
This is might possible, unfortunately I don't know how to do it this way since I don't actually own a vrx and I haven't tested this with elrs backpack. My intuitive answer would be to use the elrs backpack to control just the vrx, and use the method in this video to control the vtx. But, if that was the case, It would be better to just use the ELRS backpack for both to minimize confusion.
I actually haven’t tested this with the ELRS Lua running at the same time, but my answer would probably be to disable it to eliminate any chance of interference with each other.

@@Lance1739for sure! Also, vtxTitle = VtxChannel if that’s what you’re asking.
It’s a little confusing, but the name that shows up on the radio is actually set within the lua of the vtxtitle widget.
