I actually tried burning frankincense without charcoal today by placing an unscented candle inside a candle holder and lit it. Once it melted a bit, I dropped a few small pieces of frankincense in the melted wax, and it works well. Initially, there was a bit of smoke, but that subsided. It burned for 7 hours until I went to bed. I just kept adding a few pieces when the fragrance wasn't noticable anymore. Do you think this is okay? This is my first time trying it, so I hope it's safe and not unhealthy.

Why do you need to add wax to the resin?

Would it be simpler to just add a piece or two of the resin to the melted tea light candle itself? That's in essence hot, melted wax. IDK

This can actually be a fire hazard. The resin could catch fire and be dangerous

And would kind of be engulfed in the smell of the candle. It'd burn out before directly reaching any of the resin

    why not mineral oil?

Any new tips? I tried this, it works but not getting much inscense smell. I tried using DPG oil and got pretty good results but the DPG was used up rather quickly. Maybe a different brand of veg oil should be given a try?

Just saw your comment a year later, but I wonder if mineral oil would work well (and safely) as a heating medium.

I'm trying to find some kind of electric burner to burn incense resin without charcoal or a lot of smoke as my smoke alarm is very sensitive..Unfortunately, so far haven't found anything suitable..

Could I just burn a tea light candle and put resin in the burning candle?? I was wanting to try that out! Ty for info✨

I wouldn't do that. Resin is flammable and if it caught fire in the tea light candle the fire might get out of hand. Not a safe practice.

Thanks for the info! Can I use loose powder incense instead of resin?

Have you tried using jojoba oil-- which is a wax with a very long shelf life that most resins are soluble in?
