So I never thought to put salt to keep the frankincense burning evenly and without a smoke smell. Do not skip that step. I used salt today and everything burned great!

Gold = An offering for a king.
Frankincense = An offering for a God.
Myrrh = An embalming ointment used to anoint bodies before a funeral. It is still used during Eastern Orthodox funeral ceremonies.

i have a book of matches that smells of frankincense, so i purchased real tree resin frankincense and it smells strange when i try to burn, so i dont know if it is good quality or not or perhaps i am burning incorrectly

Thank you for this. I’ve just bought some myrrh in Jerusalem. While I was here I visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which smelt very strongly of myrrh. Censers are an important part of the services in my local Catholic church but I’ve never tried to burn any in my own home. I’m looking forward to it.
One small point is that myrrh is a resin not a spice. You can’t (or at least normally wouldn’t) eat it, like you would with all spices.

Frankincense and myrrh incenses are burnt regularly in Indian households, temples and shrines. They are quite cheap here than in the west.

There are many places depending on quality and quantity that you want. eBay, various incense shops online and of course you can buy in a place like Jerusalem or in Oman if you travel.

Does someone mind explaining Isaiah 66:3 to me. Specifically this part: “When they burn frankincense, it's as if they had blessed an idol."
These chapters are talking about apostate or wicked Israel, so it is saying that in essence, when wicked Israel offers incense to me, it is really as if they were blessing an idol. In other words, just because you offer a sacrifice does not mean it is a worthy offering. You must offer with real intent and not just going through the motions.

I'm allergic to cats and there's no way to get rid of my babies 😅. so burning frankincense is one of the ways that makes me able to breathe easily around them but thank you for this method.. I was looking for the best way to burn frankincense 👍🏿

That's the best way to burn resin.
Wish I'd seen this video before I burned incense with the little disks. Nice tip. I got my resin incense (and candles, incense burners, etc.) from Legacy Icons in the US. Good stuff on their website, but if you get on their email list, you'll probably get at least one email a day. I have them listed as spam now. Got tired of all those emails.

Not long. Around 15-30 seconds.

where does one purchase the frankincense from?
There is a lot of places you can buy it from, so it kind of depends on how much you want. A good place to start is ebay. Just do a search for "frankincense and myrrh" and bunch of options will show up. As I mention in the video, you don't need a lot, so unless you plan on burning it on a regular basis, a small amount should do.
Look for a spiritual store, ones that sell crystals typically sell raw resins

Hello, I used a Nasaem Bakhoor on a charcoal. It smells good for some seconds, but afterwards it smells like carbone burning, bad smell :(

+Océan Bleu I have only burned frankincense, myrrh and a combination of spices used in the Tabernacle of Moses. I know that different incenses burn differently. For example, the myrrh has a very strong, almost bitter smell, while frankincense is very sweet. I would recommend trying a different type of incense (I would recommend frankincense) and see if you get the same result. I am unfamiliar with Nasaem Bakhoor, so I am not sure how it is suppose to smell. I do know that some vendors sell cheaper versions (meaning there is more wood bark, instead of tree resin) which can create a more burning smell. You would likely have to burn this at a lower temperature, but I am just making an assumption. Other than trying a few other kinds, I am not sure if I can help much. Sorry!

Both, but at separate times. They don't mix too great in smells in my opinion.

I bought some Frankincense in Dubai and have been wondering how to burn it. This seems like a safe method, but I'm concerned about too much smoke - I don't want to set off the smoke detectors.
I rarely have the smoke detector go off. Yes, it will on occasion, but one thing you can do if this is a concern is just don't put a lot on the coal.

I used sea salt and it explodes on the charcoal. It sends hot salt shrapnel everywhere. Please advise.

I've noticed that some people will use gravel or rocks as a base beneath their charcoal what is the best base? Does it vary depending on what you are burning? Like in this video using some salt over the charcoal and sand underneath ?
Good question. Not sure if one is better than another. I learned to use sand and salt, but the main thing with both is to dissipate the heat. The sand helps so you don't burn whatever the container is sitting on, and the salt helps so the incense burns more evenly. But that said, I'm no expert. I just learned this from others.

I have done the same but recently the coal doesn't fire it up & i tried another coal & still the same. I don't see these sparks when i try to lit it up. I don't know what to do. I tried to dry up the coal for some days in balcony with a lot of sun but still the same. Any suggestions?
Is it self lighting coals? Or normal? The only possible suggestion would be to try some other charcoals. The ones I buy are specifically for incense and are very easy to light. I can share a link with the ones I buy if you would like.

monterey bay spice company sells frankincense for 8$ per lb (boswellia carteri) and Indian frankincense (boswellia serrata), just google them you'll find them, and they don't care what religion you might be....peace!

Yes its very important you only use sandy sand. No other sand is sandy enough, only the special sandy sand thats the sandiest sand in the land. So to summerize....only use sandy sand that can run through your hand and is known as being the sandiest sand in the land and the use of any other sand is completely banned. Got it?

I tried using the salt this time on the coal, the resin keeps burning on me and I can't get that nice bubbling that your getting on the video. could it be a low quality myrrh?
I would assume it is low quality myrrh. I know that the cheaper stuff includes more bark/wood, and I could see that burning instead of melting (the bubbling).

Not sure why, but it could be the type of coal you are using. What type of coal or charcoal are you using?
Take it out of the wrapper before burning perhaps?
The coal used in the video is a type used for hookahs, which burns a lot cleaner than grill charcoal. Also, let it fully catch before using, as there is fire accelerators in the coal

Whats the need for sand?
It dissipates the heat. If you put the coal directly on the metal, it could then burn the dish, or even the place where it is (like if you set it on a wood table).
You dont need to go to all that trouble for the coal.
