  • Frankincense and myrrh are perhaps best known for their biblical connotations. But this tree sap has been prized across the world for over 6,000 years. These fragrant incense pieces come from the Burseraceae family of trees and are found across the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. But despite recent attempts to protect these trees, they could soon be headed for extinction. So what makes frankincense and myrrh so expensive?

      Most pants r like that in regards to humans..think spicy peppers the capsaicin is a poison ment to protect the plant but instead we seek it out for its spiciness
      I dont remember who but someone said the best evolutionary trait a plant or animal can have is to be useful to humans in some way ...if they do that then we will plant fields and fields of that plant accross the globe help and protect it (corn, lawn grass, fruit trees, alo vera, pigs, cows, chickens etc) in that way we humans help spread the genes of that species accross the planet and ensure its species longevity...

    We have myrrh here in Namibia, we don't harvest it until the resin detaches from the tree(s) and hit the ground. This way, we don't harm/injure the trees, thus ensuring that we use it sustainably, which we have done for centuries upon centuries. Smells heavenly!

    You need to mark a certain number of trees and not allow anyone to tap them so they produce seeds. Once enough new trees are produced from those trees, you can switch to a different area to repopulate.

      My brother took it upon himself to hack a bunch of branches off one of our Mullberry trees, it took 5 years for it to start producing berries again. It does make considerably more berries now, and there are a ton of branches. There are also like 5-6 new trees popping up near it, shot up from the roots of the one that got hacked (Edit: figured this out when I tried to relocate them). I think if they left alternating portions of those trees alone for a few years, they would see a massive resurgence.

    Perhaps a system of rotation between crops of trees would help?
    Like only harvest from one group of trees for a period of time, giving the other groups time to recover, sort of like how farmers leave a field fallow to replenish the soil.

    • @kylesteele9403
      @kylesteele9403 2 года назад +21

      You'd have to rotate them for years at a time, sadly. Trees don't have a heart to pump their blood, so it takes a while for nutrients to travel all the way up to the tops and new branches just to produce seeds. Edit: after the trees fully heal, I mean to say they'd go back to producing fully
      Maybe cloning the trees would work good enough, using offshoot cuts

      Jehovah witnesses take the name of the Lord Jehovah in vain. Most people have the spiritual mark of the beast which has to do with worship. For about 2,000 years people have been worshipping the dragon (Satan) and the Roman kingdom catholic (universal) church. The Roman emperors and papacy are the 4th beast kingdom of Daniel and 1st beast of Revelation 13. The sinning Roman church is the woman riding the beast and is the mother of harlots (every sundaykeeping church and those who keep the doctrine of men) and abominations of the earth (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Bahaism, Atheism, etc.) We should worship God our Father and respect each holy day, each new moon, and each sabbath as written in Colossians 2:16, Isaiah 66:23, Ezekiel 46:3, Numbers 10:10, etc. If they say we cannot buy or sell without the vaccinejab, then that is the mark of the beast. Let us repent and have a good remnant of the year.

      The problem is that when you continuously damage a tree for years it is unable to flower and fruit effectively anymore. I got a boswellia sacra a few moths ago. It's a slow grower. It arrived with no leaves and finally sprouted leaves a few days ago. It was really hard to find too. I only found them on one site. Still haven't found a commiphora myrrha tree for sale yet.
