It's more so not the over harvesting, but the way it's harvested when they cut too deeply into the trees heartwood it takes longer for the tree to heal. Also the medicinal quality comes from boswellic acid which occurs only in the species of Boswellia sacra/carteri, serrata, and papyfera. Of the 19 species of Boswellia, B. ameero from Socotra is one of the most fragrant, lending it well to perfumery. I've been growing Boswellia species now for two years here in Florida and by no means an expert, but I'm learning very quickly the way these trees grow. And theres two distinct forms of Boswellia that grow, those from the humid tropics(b. serrata), and those from the arid tropics (b. sacra).
Exotic Scents Thank you as well, I subscribed too, I've been making incense for quite a while also, so your channel is of great interest to me.😀
Perfume Guru... where can I obtain some ?
You're right. Frankincense healed me from my childhood wounds. I went years grieving n during this time, my mum burned some Bakhoor as she comes from Aden, Yemen. I discovered particularly the Frankincense fragrance helped me in relieving pain, depression and anxiety. Discovered it by accident. Now I burn it in my room.
@@nikhilsfrags great video. I had to comment! Keep up the good work. 👍
The encens healed you by the grace of allah
The best Hojari Loban is from Salalah, Dhufar Province at Oman, and the cost of 1 KG is about 350 USD. It is actually used as a medicine and it is not preferable to burn it due to its price. However, there are other types of Loban that are used as incense.
Where can we buy it ? I’m in Australia.
Asalaam how is the green hojari from muscat?
Yes 🙏🏼I am picky which piece to make tea or chew! not so when putting on a charcoal. I did burn a little Royal Green to experience the Aroma and I'll use it for medicinal and Spiritual Conjouring😇
This excellent video is 6years old so I don’t know if you will see my reply.
I am in my 70s and have several compression fractures in my spine that are very painful. So I am looking for a good Frankincense for inflammation to use topically and internally.
I have a Boswellia carterii that is 100%pure but not recommended for the uses I require.
Are you able to recommend a dealer in Canada?
ordered some resin from PureSacra upon your recommendation, was really fabulous ! thanks for introducing me to this great store
Puresacra
Great video. I bought a few years ago a box of Tennendo Omani Frankincense incense. it's a unique incense with the exact profile you described. It's very uplifting and especially refreshing in hot summer days.
Was waiting for this video for a couple of weeks now... Very informative... Excellent... Thanks Bro
Thanks for the comprehensive information Nikhil. I love Frankincense and agree, it is healing, calming, soothing.
There's so much to know about frankincense and thanks to you the world is enlightened. Every time I watch your reviews, I learn something new. No one talks about the oriental side of the fragrance world except you. Kudos to you mate. Thanks!
05/02/2023,,I have several different varieties of Frankincense and "the Most Fragrant" is the one taken off the charcoal before the burnt resin wipes out the Glorious Smell. i'm still experimenting with charcoals and different resins. I have frankincense tea every day now. Have chewed some. Taste Testing diff varieties and Continually investigating the Medicinal Benefits of Frankincense🙏🏼and Other Natural anti-cancer elements.

Thanks for this video now i have almost 500gm of Royal Green Hojaari Frankincense gifted by my friend living in Oman 🇴🇲 😍,
Best Loban is kodiya loban for burning which is yellow in colour and also budget friendly which is mostly used at religious places like Dargah and is best remedy to remove any kind of negative energies and is also sunnah in islam👍👍👍
Thanks for this excellent educational intro to this topic. It's amazing to imagine the impact frankincense has had in human history and inter cultural commerce
I love these note educational videos. Awesome stuff & fantastic intro too
Great information Nikhil. Love the smell of frankinsence and I use its essential oil in my beauty serums. Like you said its used for healing purposes and makes for a wonderful anti aging serum. Its so calming and soothing.Just a few drops at the base of the neck helps you sleep better. Have been on the lookout for Boswellia sacra EO as its the best and the original stuff is not only hard to come by but pretty expensive too. Love the use of it in perfumes too. thanks for the video and link. Appreciate all your detailed videos. Do keep them coming. All the Best.
i got some amazing Boswellia Sacra EO from this site www.pureoudh.com/shop/oils/essential-oil/sacred-frankincense-essential-oil/

Great video about frankincense.....
A great video about frankincense, thank you Nikhil :) I'am in love with all types of this precious resin.
Very beautifully explained frankincense, thanks a lot.
I normally burn my frankincense resin straight on the charcoal. I see you used the tin foil so I immediately did the same...OMG the major difference it makes! The true frankincense scent truly comes out this way. So lemony and citrusy🍋.
I love your work and videos. I too have become involved with incense and the beauty of earth.
Try Ethiopian frankincense, it is believed to be the exact variety if frankincense that the Egyptians used
Hey there i am looking forward to try the Ethiopians frincases let me know if you know where i can get it the best quality one +252617872827 WhatsApp me thanks
Best introduction video by Nikhil bro till.date.... excellent
Nikhil ji ... Boswellia serrata or Indian Frankincense is shallaki whereas Guggal is entirely different resin having botanical name as Commiphora wightii. Even the fragrances of these two are entirely different.
Great informative video bro. You should get an Oscar or something..
Amber does have a smell of its own, if you burn it as incense, which is possible. I did that, and you can buy it as an incense at several shops. I even have a very rrare essential oil of amber. It smells a bit like mineral oil with woody notes. Definitely worth trying out.
A good Amber resin smells like female sex pheremones.
Always wondered that you would enlighten with a surprise or burst of knowledge in the area of burning incense and especially Frankincense. Thank you Nikhil Bhai. Your a Top Lad!
Hojari is truly sacred and divine!
Awesome information Nik! Really enjoyed this episode! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for your informative video.
I bought 100%pure Frankincense oliban from my health food store and enjoy the citrus scent:but, I need one for internal use or to be applied topically.
I will try the sacra site you recommended.
Thank you again from Canada 🇨🇦

Exelant video my brother... The best for me is the hojari found in Dhofar state in Oman..i burn it with the Indian oud chips ....we burn it regularly in our home and masjeds..and we use it as medicine in the gulf state.
Exotic Scents with Nikhil yes..salalah is a city in Dofar state in Oman
Outstanding video. You make huge efforts which shows in the results. Kudos.
Hello brother Nikhil,
Thanks for this introduction. Could you advise us some fragrances that contain a good frankisness
Hi, Could you recommend a perfume with a dominant frankincense note in it?
Very nice … 👍 thanks for putting such effort to educate us. 🙏😇
Hi Nikhil, i ordered myrrh and frankincense today from pure sacra.....do i need to worry about customs here? I live in Mumbai.
abhishek bhai iska khushboo kaisa hai
Thankyou for taking the time to explain these wonderful fragrances .😊
Is hojari the thing that grows on the boswallia yree when the frankincense is overharvested?
Great knowledgeable Content sir 👍 but which will be best to buy Naaz perfume or pure sacra.
Excellent intro bro. Thumps 👆
what about the loban sold in the markets near Ajmer Dargah?
Thank you Professor Bhai for your seminar!!!
Thanks Nikhil for this Video its special because probably you are first to discus Dhoop. Personally I love burning Dhoop even if there is no holy occasion to relax in evening. but I didnt find that best quality fragrance yet, Please suggest me a place where I could get good quality Hojari or boswellia serrata in Mumbai.
I have to contradict you in two points. There is a study from 2012 that shows that Sacra and Carterii are actually different species. Reference: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22835693.
And no, Serrata is not Guggul. Guggul is a totally different resin, also called Indian myrrh. The botanic name hence is Commiphora mukul. Obviously, Commiphora is not Boswellia. What you mean, is Salai Guggal. That is in fact a different name for Serrata.
Great knowledge thanks for sharing
Isn't "Guggul" Commiphora mukul (related to myrrh)?
To me Royal Green smells more piney, "Bone White" smells minty, and the regular half-clear sacra more lemony.
Hi, great presentatiton. Can you tell me what is the heater you use to melt the frankincense? Where can i get it in europe? i only know frankincense from burning with a flame, so would like to smell it without the smoking of it?
Thanks and bests
Steve
om
thank you for this great video
Thanks for sharing valuable information ℹ
Good one, informative !!
I had viewed this video earlier also. But I beg to differ about Indian frankincense. Guggul is myrrh and not loban. Indians clearly differentiate between these two. Boswellia serrata is much dry looking resin than guggul. Bengalis generally use this resin( Boswellia serrata) during pujo, and it is called dhuno. I , myself had collected it from the tribals of Panchmarhi, MP and even seen when these were collected. Though it is a bit different from the actual Boswellia serrata, It is having an amazing smell .But Guggul/myrrh comes from Commifora wightii. This plant can be seen at FFDC, Kannauj for ready reference and quite different from Boswellia serrata. Actually we have so many resins in India under the common umbrella term of loban that it is difficult to differentiate. :D But Guggul is myrrh
@@nikhilsfrags Yes, Guggul is known as Indian Myrrh - a bit different from West Asian Myrrh. But used to get exported from India as a separate entity than Loban since at least 1st Century CE. Indian Myrrh (Guggul) and West Asian Myrrh come from two separate trees of course ( Commifora wightii and Commifora myrrha) - but both trees are from the same genus - at species level it got separated. Something like Boswellia serrata and Boswellia sacra
@@nikhilsfrags I have done that several times.... As I said earlier Indian Myrrh i.e Guggul and West Asian Myrrh are different in smell but at the genus level, they are the same. I think you should care to read my earlier comment properly- I have spelt out the differences between these two. But Indian Loban and Guggul are different from each other- coming from two different genus altogether. Actually I don't expect this mistake from you
@@nikhilsfrags Nikhilji, I am also from a scientific community only and very likely to be older than you. I appreciate your efforts - so commented on your video. Science always gets changed with the discovery of new knowledge. There is nothing "false" or "true" in nomenclature. What you have said your just preceding comment on loban is also my opinion - if you check my first comment. A large number of resins in India are known as Loban - but Guggul is not one among them. Sanskrit for loban is ' raal' or "rala' and once found written in Brahmi on one of the bricks from my excavations. 😊 There are aleast 130 odd species - resins from which are known as loban in India. I just pointed out that Guggul is seperate and should not be mistaken with loban . Thats all. Thanks
@@nikhilsfrags 😊🙏 Yes, not West Asian myrrh- but Indian myrrh from the same genus 😀 Sorry for being so persistent 😀thanks again. Expecting many more well researched videos from you
Somalia have one of the best frankincense.
Ahmed Yusuf were do you buy it I hear it's the best too

For me "frankincense" is related to "frankenstein" 👍
I like the India frankincense
Thank you for the information. I have a friend who make jewelry from Frankincense, if you want to make a video she can send you one.
Don’t use these electronic burners to burn frankincense bro I had used it in the past but there’s a lot of difference in the top notes and heart notes of the frankincense and it lacks that strong peppery base note if it’s burnt using an electronic burner
Exotic Scents yup 👍
