My only monitor is used by my bro and i want to purchase 1 for my own work but dont want to build another cpu, so basically both d monitors need to be connected on 1 pc but i can start 1 monitor without starting another 1

Same with VGA, DisplayPort, etc

This was great. Just one comment -- if the monitor you want to be #1 instead identifies as #2, first make sure you have selected Display 2 at the top. Then go to "Multiple displays" and check the box "Make this my main display." Problem solved.

There is no telling how many RUclips tutorials I have watched just to set up a second monitor on my PC. I have watched ones lasting up to 20 minutes; and ones in which the host thinks I might mix up computer port with sea port because I'm begging to be humored. My first reaction to this tutorial was, no way. If others can't do it in 20 minutes; no way can you do it in two-and-a-half minutes. But, it's for the same reason that I watched it; it's just two-and-half minutes. And wouldn't you know it; it's the only tutorial that works. Thank you, sir!

@@kriswayne7938 I don't think it will work since the pc will connect both the monitors together and prevent the two monitors from powering and working individually

For everybody that have been having issues with Windows recognizing the second monitor: I simply changed the cable (I had another one laying around) and it worked so consider the option of trying that.

Nice video, but would have liked to have seen more, like what if the settings for the 2nd monitor won't allow you to make any changes to it and thought it will duplicate or become main monitor it will not allow you to use the extend option such as my dilemma.

oh my god this worked. i had been having issues with windows 10 updates and using 2 graphics cards. it wouldn't let me have 1 monitor plugged into each so always had to revert back to the previous version of windows. a new update came out and screwed it for good so i couldn't run on each graphics card but never thought of plugging both into the same one - now i can have dual monitors again

i use display port for my gaming monitor and the chat monitor is hdmi
im not an expert but wouldnt you want the display port for gaming to maximise the Hz output?

After I connected my new monitor to my mother board it doesn’t even detect a display at all I have a dedicated graphics card and that’s be the only one that works
I think you need a dual monitor card ( so your pc detects both)

My displays aren't showing up at all when i plug one into the graphics card hdmi then the integrated hdmi (pretty sure this one does nothing and doesnt even work)
You can only use either integrated or graphics card. Not both together

That depends on the ports available on the graphics card. My graphics card only has 1 HDMI but it also has 3 displayports so I use one of those
1st off you need a cpu with integrated gpu (most intel have but only G-line of ryzen) and then you have to check BIOS to force iGPU on - default is "off, if dedicated gpu is present" to utilize both iGPU and gfx-card

@@rock5164 click the windows button then type display settings and if it doesnt come up your computer is either old and you need a new one, or its just broken
@@rock5164 Are you connecting a monitor to a graphics card and another to the motherboard? When you have a monitor connected to a graphics card, the integrated graphics may be auto disabled; and so when you connect a monitor to your motherboard, it won't work. You have to go into your BIOS and enable the integrated graphics.

when i plug my second monitor in nothing shows. I use a VGA cable and a VGA to HDMI port because my computer doesnt have a spot for VGA. no matter which spot the hdmi is plugged into only one monitor works either my main or my secondary. I have a geforce 1650 graphics card. can someone help? even when i click detect it wont find it.

maybe the HDMI to vga cable doesn't work you should get the ones that use a micro usb to power them

if you are a gamer, most hdmi cables cap your refresh rate at 60hz. display port will not cap it which is why gamers should prioritize displayport over hdmi for their primary monitor
