Brilliant thankyou very much. I had spent the whole day trying to figure it out, and in two minutes you said two words "Sequential" and "Left to Right" and bingo this +70 year old was very happy. Thankyou so much. Have subscribed.
Finally!!! Thank you for starting explaining it from Step #1 Get the Connecting Gizmo!!! Everyone starts explaining where to go in your computer's software...A person like me who's electronically challenged needed step one to physically connect the two darn things! Thank you for truly helping. Great job!!!
Simply fabulous! I work from home, have two monitors and laptop, and this has been such a help to my inabillity to have three different screens display different elements. THANK YOU ! This is simple, direct, and easy to follow. MARVELOUS!
Thank you very much. Buyer BE WARE: There are many alternatives that are cheaper BUT a lot of them can only DUPLICATE and not EXTEND your display. This one is good!
Thank you for getting to the point, saying what you need to quickly and with specifics for a simple easy explanation of how to do setup. In seconds you removed the mystery behind using multiple monitors.
Really well done. Easy to understand. Clearly explained. Finally - a real solution that is as simple as plug and go. This is exactly what I was looking for. Please produce more content.
NOTE: Multiple monitors only works with a Laptop with USB C. Will not work with a laptop that does not have USB C, even if you try to convert from USB A to the USB C Anker multiple display hub.
Than you bro. My little brother just asked me how to do this, andlinking this video made it so much easier than explaining it. For the big help, you have my sub.
THE IDEA OF DOING A DUAL MONITOR and just closing my laptop's lid (making it a CPU kinda) pops out of my head and I searched this video in RUclips. Gotta save and buy the device. Thanks man, you've got your 100k subs.
I purchased the 8 in one hub. I can connect my phone and it shows same pic on both screens( can't get it to show or slide multiple windows). But when I connect my laptop the screens stay asleep. I guess my laptop is not compatible? Your instructions are very precise and better than any other video I've found.
just got this set up with my old monitor that I was just going to throw away. This is a great video. Easy to understanding even for non-techie people like me. Thank you!
This does not work on all Type-C input ports. These hubs are only compatible with Type-C Thunderbolt ports, and a lot of laptops only have the 3.1/3.2 Type-C ports.
It has to have DP Alt mode capability, not necessarily thunderbolt. But yes, he didn't say that. If your laptop has USB-C, check first if it can deliver video.
Is there anyway to get more than 1 external display if you don’t have Type-C Thunderbolt port? Like could you go through the HDMI port and get multiple displays that way?
This is the best video for what I was looking for. So much convoluted and disorganized videos talking nonsense when I just wanted my laptop to be able to shared on two screens. Ty!
Thank you for this, exactly what I'm looking for as I'm editing videos and the laptop screen is quite small and I like to put the video canvas to the external monitor so I can see it bigger.
Thanks and well done. Would you please clarify if the USB C port type matters every time you want to use Multiple or Triple monitors using the laptop's USB C port. I have a 5 months old Acer Aspire A515-56. This laptop has USB C port but this is not Thunderbolt or DP type USB C port.
Wow! Thank you, Thank you and Thank you. The clearest, easy to understand and a great demo. It’s amazing how so many people over complicate this or after 20 minutes into the video say it won’t extend just duplicate. Thank again for this video :)
THANK YOU!!! Did you have any problems with your laptop losing power with this setup? I know your laptop is plugged into power but I’m wondering if the extra pull to the two other monitors lowered your laptop power🧐
It may have a slight performance impact if the graphics card in the laptop isn't very strong or if you're trying to use monitors with high resolutions. Otherwise, it won't really affect anything.
My laptop has only one HDMI port. I see that you're using an Anker USB C to Dual HDMI for your setup. Would you happen to know if Anker has a gadget that has HDMI input to dual HDMI output?
This will ONLY work if your type-C port is designated as a "display port" or is "thunderbolt." Otherwise the port won't communicate with the laptop's graphics card.
So if I don't have a Type C port it won't work? I was planning to get a USB A to C adapter since I don't have a Type C port but was wondering if it would work
Everything is straight forward and easily understood. I do have a question in the video when you plug the wire into your laptop and 8n1... there is a large white HDMI adapter looks like its plugged into VMA adaptor or something? I have been going round and round for the better part of a month... ordering, reordering, returning... your video was right on the spot. I have a HP 15 and (2) Spectra 36 in monitors. I cant get any combination to work, other then one monitor HDMI direct to HPLP port? Could be user error as well :) But I do know my way around a computer. I think I have been buying not only the wrong stuff but the cheap stuff as well. Laptop pops up "usb not compatible"?
This is what I needed. Last 2 videos didn't get the 411 but mah boi here, got it. I'm naming my next pet after you. Not the pet I hate and yell at a lot, the one I chill with.
I have a Rog Strix with 2 Monitors one is a HP Monitor and a Specntre Monitor and my setup runs really well and smoothly and my laptop is on the far right and the monitors are left of my laptop 😊 so thats my setup
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Question, I have several USB 3.0 thingies attached to my laptop via powered USB adapters, could I leave the mouse, keyboard, gaming speed-pad, Focusrite, etc, into the laptop, while I use this device for the dual HDMI?? Or would it require that I plug the powered USB into the Anker, as you did?
CAN IT GAME DOE? This is by far the best tutorial I have seen for this. Would someone please help let me know how the video signal is handled? Does GPU handle it, Integrated, or the USB device? Can each of the two monitors on their own be gamed on without losing performance? Does this interfere? If so, how significantly? Response time? Refresh rate? Could you run an ultra-wide resolution from it with similar performance as using 1 single ultra-wide via Direct HDMI?
All of that depends on your computer. You could technically run 2 games, but you likely won't be able to play them simultaneously. Having multiple monitors does add extra work to your graphics card. Again, that depends on the graphics card, resolution of the monitor and refresh rate.
@@JJFlores197 Thank you for the reply. I understand those items. I was looking to see if anyone was familiar with this device and what if any factors may affect the response time or other metrics as opposed to connecting directly to the built in hdmi on my laptop without this device. I'm just trying to figure out if you take any performance hit and how much by using the device vs the built in hdmi on the laptop. Is all video still processed directly by the GPU? In a 1:1 comparison, let's say using only one monitor, same resolution, same refresh rate, Is the same exact signal that would've come through your built in hdmi going to be transmitted via USB c to the hdmi ports on this adapter with no significant losses? Is there some response time added, and is it significant would be my wonder. And is there any loss of bandwidth or picture quality or maximum refresh etc I also wonder
@@quantumrift11 I see. I'm not familiar with these devices. Looking at the specifications for the USB C hub and the USB C to HDMI adapter, it says it supports a single 4K screen at 60 Hz or 2 displays at 4K at 30 Hz. If I understand it correctly, yes your GPU is still responsible for driving the displays. If you're doing general web browsing, it likely won't have much effect in performance. However, if you're trying to game or run graphically demanding software, it will have an effect on performance.
Thanks for sharing! i saw that you used the charging C pot to connect to the multi-port device. Can i know how you charge your laptop after utilizing the c port on the laptop? fyi my laptop has only one c port and i use that for charging.
I have this same Anker device but my older Mac laptop doesn’t take USB C, so I got an adapter so it’ll fit in the USB A port. But neither of the two monitors I plugged in are responding. I’m guessing the adapter isn’t working…. Other ports on the Anker are working though. I plugged my USB A keyboard into the Anker and that works.
Thank you for this tutorial. I need it for my wfh set up, however, what kind of cord is needed to connect 1 laptop to the other? I used a desktop before with CPU with avg cord but the set has been changed to laptop. So now I plan to use another laptop as the second monitor.
This is very helpful! Now I'm wondering if you or anyone else can help me here. I won't be doing this for a while, but eventually my work will be taking our desktops away and giving us laptops. Also, in a few years my bf wants to buy a new computer and will give me his old one. Anyway my question is, how would I be able to have two monitors connected to the desktop and be able to connect it to the laptop as shown in the video without just unplugging and plugging all that stuff every time I want to switch? I was thinking maybe using an HDMI splitter but idk.
