    I bought one of these, and it’s a great watch for daily wear. I’m not remotely worried about the price. My enjoyment is worth the cost. Reading the complaints makes me chuckle a bit. With every new watch release there are a group of very vocal folks who probably weren’t going to buy this anyway, even if it was $50. I remember in 1993 I could buy a Rolex Datejust for $2000, now they are over $8000, and people pay that price all day. Pffft..... no this isn’t a Rolex, but that’s not the point. If you hate the price, blame the Industry as a whole. Timex isn’t immune to capitalism. If you want a $50 watch, there are plenty of them out there

    • @iM7SnaKe
      @iM7SnaKe 5 лет назад

      you know what this timex is shit for that price? because for the same price, oh wait 20$ less you can have a high quality quartz citizen with saphire crystal and titanium case and bracelet where the second hand hits perfectly the mark and not this over priced shit. real price for this timex? 30$ as the mov. is less than 8$ and same for that bracelet that i have on my 30$ digital casio.

    No RUclips reviews make mention of the problem with the crown: When you push it in, presumably after taking advantage of the hacking feature and having set the time precisely, the minute hand jumps, either forward or backward, by maybe as much as two minutes. This makes setting a reliable time on this watch very difficult. These are beautiful pieces, but setting them is maddening.

But $12k is too high for what Rolex offers. This is Timex's own watch from their back catalogue, so they can charge what they want for it. Obviously people don't mind, since it's sold out twice. People who say buy an SKX009, Orient Mako or whatever don't get it. You buy those, you don't get THIS watch. I didn't want yet another 41mm automatic. The 21mm end links of the bracelet helps tremendously to make the watch look larger than it is. If that bracelet were only 18mm at it's widest point, it would make the whole piece look tiny on a large size wrist like my own. I'm seriously thinking about getting the green/black version. @@DrZbo I have one. It doesn't jingle at all. I get that it's the fad now to bash this because it's quartz and say it's worth $40...but it's quality. Nicely polished. Bracelet is great and doesn't pull hair. It's a good watch...not cheaply made.

    Thing about the Q Timex: the original was the company’s first attempt to market a quartz watch to a mass market audience. The sliding bracelet clasp and the coin-slot battery door were features that showed the owner could do their own maintenance instead of going to a jewellers for adjustments. So no, we’re not going to see a mechanical version of this watch; we may, however, be rooting for a mechanical model in their Expedition or Navi line.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  5 лет назад

      It wouldn't be called the 'q' obviously but I could see a 40mm similar looking watch with one of the mechanicals put inside and of course a price increase

    It's a Timex Q ( Q for quartz), so a mechanical Seagull would make very little sense. Also the original from the 80s was quartz. But I see your point, some people are never happy..

    Hey Bruce, great review!! Question for you though: do you find that the hands “jump” when setting the time? What I mean is if you have them lined up to the time you want and then push the crown in, the hands move to a different position. That’s happening on mine, and it admittedly drives me crazy. Just curious if you experienced that as well.

    • @DanielBoychuk

    It's not worth $180, but I get the appeal. So much so, I bought one at retail. The fact that I had to pay retail for a Timex is a bummer in itself, but such is life. It's all due to these RUclips channels, and other social media driving demand and thus driving speculators to purchase and flip. Started at Rolex a couple years ago, and not trickling down to TIMEX, of all brands.

    Have the all black version myself as I am not a fan of the Pepsi colour combo. G shocks . . . "ugly and chunky." LOL! Understates the case IMO. Can not for the life of me understand their popularity but popular they undeniably are. Thought I was the only one who found them unforgivably ugly.
