I love that she is teaching others to make her special Greek dishes. These skills will be lost forever unless we teach the young. I'm from a Syrian background, and I know my mother taught me well. Now I'm not sure who wants to learn except for just a few dishes that are well known. It's not just a recipe. It's the technique and love that is cooked or baked into the dish that is important. Thank you Yia Yia for this session.

I want to adopt your mother! I miss my Yia Yia (passed away three years ago) and Papou (passed this year and had lived with me for the last year) so much. They were my world. My Papou was an international chef and I made so many videos with him so I would forever have the memories of us cooking together. I’m officially a fan and a subscriber! Bravo Yia Yia!

Thanks for this wonderful video. My parents took me to a Greek restaurant, The Astor Restaurant, in Washington, DC in the early 1960’s. We learned to order the Galaktoboureko as soon as we arrived, or they would run out. We didn’t want to go home without having it for dessert.

Fantastic video and recipe.. Can you please tell us the name of the Vanilla from Greece and are ALL the recipes she made in this video listed in PRINT somewhere with all the directions written out, too? Just love to see how she's made all this and I am sure this is at our Greek Festival at the Orthodox church here in Bradenton, FL, during the first week of February every year. Have never tried this yet, but loved the Baklava they have sold! Can't wait to try this one there, too. I already have the Athens Phyllo dough, but want to know the name of the Greek Vanilla and what stores carry it, too! Thanks so much for a great video. I love cooking from scratch and can't wait to try this recipe (in PRINT online somewhere?)

Omg I love your mom. She’s adorable. Is that samolina flour. I am trying to make this but it’s less like a pudding or custard snd more like cream of wheat. Is that how it’s suppose to be?

I love watching your mom cooking, she reminds me of my own...but that hillbilly banjo music is a bit MUCH. Stick to beautiful traditional GREEK music, it suits her a million times better and will make the Greekness of the show more authentic! All the best in future shows🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🌹🌺🌼🌿

@@cookingwiththeyia-yias1993 Then buy a bouzouki and clarinet and make up a few tunes of your own!😆😆😆
Just kidding, love you guys anyway! Ask the γιαγιάς to make διπλες, μελομακάρονα, κουραμπιέδες, and μουσακά....that would be great and fun for us to watch!
