In 1982-83 there was an aggressive Save The Whales campaign that was almost annoying at times; this should help you understand his Nuke The Whales comment. Out of frustration, I taped a penny to an index card and mailed it to the fund-raising address sometime in January 1983, I still remember.
I love the guy . He is my second favorite member of the band , getting out stretched at the wire by Eddie . There never has been nor will there ever be another like him , just like Eddie , they are true each one , one in a Billion ! That’s why the band was so great . Hard to believe it was their friction with each other that created some of their best stuff. But those same personalities also kept the pair apart for a quarter of a century , robbing the fans and themselves of their autumn and winter years . That’s the number one thing that I wish had not happened. Both sides make very good music while apart , but I bet anything that if they had stayed together , or split in 85 like they did and ygg by Ed n got. Ack together about 1990 or so , about a 6-7 year break , then reunited with juice like the world never seen and they would have been up there in Rolling Stones type popularity , producing an album ever 3-5 years and a tour to go with it , they could have crumbed the world longer than they actually did .
I saw this in 82 as well. For some reason I recall it was on MTV?? In any event, we were trying to figure out if DLR was just stoned or on coke or both.
I never understand when I see anyone saying that he was on Coc… And that’s not saying that I know what he was doing, but I’ve just seen too many people on Coc and that’s not what it looks like. It’s gross. He’s too alive, in tune with what’s happening, on his game & having fun doing it. People on Coc only say they’re “partying” but you wont see one of them even smiling.
DLR was the inspiration for Spicoli in fast times and Swayzees Character in the Movie Point break. Both characters show different side of David himself, showing the cool and easy side as well as the adrenaline junky Dave truly is.
@@colinmeade-tu3ln I believe he is a Philomath not an adrenaline junkie. He loves to learn, to express himself, to communicate as well as entertain. He was born under a very bright star. He's a gem.
"I'm sorry, I'm stoned" and then he says something perfectly with no issue. What a treasure man
Yes 82, saw it when it came out. Laughed my ass off.
Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth
Unbeatable combo !
No one like him, best front man ever as far as entertainment and bravado
God bless David Lee Roth bro fr

This guy has always been a trip.
Exellent singer 👏👏👏👏👏
Kick ass

Diamond Dave
Edit this, this is easily 1982
Done, thank you

Dave was on coke you could see the clear drip coming down off his nose!
@@jorgegonzalez134 that's sweat. I've seen people on cocaine and they're fckin insane.

@@Bcr8tive Some comment on audio interviews, saying "You can hear it" but he's clearly smoking a joint (Steve Rosen interview, Jas Obrecht)
@@LoyalOpposition totally agree with that… This guy is not doing that … he’s definitely smoking but there’s nothing wrong with it.
I love that New Order's Leave Me Alone closes out the interview; one of my favorite New Order songs.

Here to day gone later to day 22:20
Such a misunderstood man. Lied about by many, underappreciated, and mistaken for something he's not.
Unchained was their most sophisticated rocker with Dave.
Cocaine was one helluva drug😂 Love ya, Dave, and I’m glad you are enjoying life
I betcha Sean Penn vetted Diamond Dave heavy for his role of Jeff Spicoli in fast times at Richmont High😆😆😆😆😆😆
Ericksson Phoenix both
Dang Alec on those drums 😮
He looks like Garth in Waynes World when theyre shilling corporate products.
Watching these now in the rearview mirror… He reminds me of Spicoli … or… Spicoli was pretending to be Dave 😅

@@buddymaddix Yes of course I do. You went M.I.A. I do still WFH, yes. You didn't offend me and I like you think that 😊
