Unfortunately i think your right, cause in their prime Van Halen was untouchable, and bands that pay their dues before they make it like Van Halen did just aren’t in demand any more, it’s very unfortunate.

@@claytoncarey2128 : Yup! You said the key phrase...."bands that pay their dues" is spot on!
Back then, a band had to work really hard to get attention. Really hard! It took tons of money and effort to make the band noticeable. But these days, it's easy-come-easy-go. And it's all because of over-saturation; due to You Tube and other social media.
      Peace brother.

Miss these times so much man. We were all so young. I was in 10th grade and 16 years young at this time. And heavily into Ed mostly; but Van Halen as a whole band naturally.
Van Halen had it all in these times. They were litteraly on top of the scene. Nobody could say a bad thing about VH. From the very start; there was Ed fans and Dave fans ( all women for Dave) at the beggining. And that never stopped. Dave attracted the girls and Eddie attracted the guys. And ultimately they always had awesome shows. Their live performances were truly an Epic event in those days. Man I miss those times so much.

Right! They lost their way even before Sammy. They were starting to change to become the Van Halen post Roth. Dave was against that. He wanted it to stay the same. That’s why he truly left the band. Watch the Largo show here on utube. That is the Van Halen we all came to love. Dave and the band at the top of their game. Nothing but pure loud raw attitude. The HIDE YOUR SHEEP tour was the last great tour they ever did. The 1984 tour wasn’t the same band probably due to the internal feuding going on. When Sammy joined it changed even more. They became even more commercial and polished than 1984.

I wish Dave was young now starting out with Van Halen...Could you imagine a guy like him in the present? He would have been the BIGGEST star today. Looks and personality...imagine him on Americas Got Talent..hahaha he'd wipe the floor with everyone else...He'd leave Simon Cowell speechless

My husband turned on Van Halen at typical drummer volume for the first time our 2 Siamese kittens ever heard music and they both ran into the bathroom in shock! One stayed wrapped in the shower curtain 2 hours after we turned the stereo off. Guess we are going to have to ease them into music. Hubby suggested some quiet Willie Nelson to begin with but we haven't dared to try it again yet.

Saw the Fair Warning tour at Madison Square Garden in 1981. Paid a scalper $35 which seemed OUTRAGEOUS. Oh that poor opening band was shamelessly abused. Good times.

Being from So Cal back them and a fan before they hit big Dave reflected many of the local surfers with the hair and bare chest that look was common. Tons of eye candy for the chicks. The surfer hair color was common among those who hung out at the beach and caused by salt water and sun. Purely 100% So. Cal. before it was ruined by liberals.@@martymartin2894

If you didn't grow up in the 80's then you just don't get it --- back then teen girls loved the blond surfer look --- dark tan and muscular hairy chest with the sun-bleached hair --- DLR capitalized on this look to score a truckload of pussy in every town that VH toured in --- his dick probably needed a constant infusion of penicillin from the non-stop poon he was getting

      You know you're right!
I'm sure you heard his retirement audio❓ His voice cracked when he spoke of "Eddie looking in the rearview mirror and not to worry because it will be ol' Dave."
I believe he's still in Las Vegas doing his show isn't he? He said all of his papers and doctors orders are inside his safe...his _handlers_ as he called them told him to take it easy or he would not make it (live) much longer.
That will be one very sad day for all that love VH and DLR❗❤❤❤❤❤
