Dave made the band and Wolfgang got the gig because of his dad, simple as that. And maybe if Wolfgang lost some weight he would know how to treat ladies what a spoiled fat brat
This man is a genius. Funny, charming, and wrote some of the greatest classic rock anthems Of all time. One of the most identifiable voices ever. I guess you can say I’m a fan. 😂
Dave you made Van Halen, I couldn't think of a better front man for the most amazing american rock band ever. You made history-be proud! Early VH songs are the best!
Eddie is a guitar God. But, without a great lyricist, he might be know only as well as Yngwie Malmsteen. One of the greatest guitarist most have never heard of. Listen to Eddie's piano piece he wrote and performed in concert during Van Halem III. YIKES! And I worship EVH!!!!
I love Dave! I can never say it enough! 😆 He’s the kind of guy who could have fun at an insurance seminar...”have a good time...ALL the time.” That’s Dave. 😎
Putting Van Halen aside for a moment, this has to be one of the greatest recollections of living in the 60s/70s with butts, booze and women I've ever heard or seen. No documentary could ever recap a childhood in such a manner. This tops them all! Rejoice in this lavish time tunnel extravaganza!
These were the best Roth Shows. The video was fantastic and made it feel like Dave was in our living room just chatting with us by the fireplace. And the little breaks with the music are great too.
The life of Dave. The only guy I ever listen to that makes it sound like being perhaps the best frontman of all time in one of THE most popular bands of OUR lifetime, was just like a sidenote in all of the other things he's done. Dave had / still has a zest for life that so many are looking for and can never find, Somehow, this dude found it. Loved the guy from his first scream on vinyl. ;-)
The last really great JOKER died. The actor. That is a hard role in modern remakes.......Heath Ledger was kind of like the Silence of the Lambs last remake for the part of the JOKER, and he admitted it was hard to get out of that role.
I’d agree but Dave can never follow a script to save his life. God see if you can find the audio of him trying to do commercials for Howard Stern. Absolute Disaster. That being said, the man is a god and after reading his book 24 years ago or more; it changed my life and man was life easier to deal with from that moment on
Gotta respect Dave for staying in shape after the rough years. It's admirable when you know the right time to ease the drinking so you still can kick ass in the later years 🤺
I'VE ALWAYS LOVED THIS GUY IN VH...but man.....as I've gotten older and DLR has gotten older he is fascinating!! Smart, funny, a great storyteller , and ALWAYS SMILING!! Love you, Mr. Roth!
Yeah. Hes genuine. And its getting tougher and tougher to find that in pop culture with each passing year. Also, he may get older......but David will never be old.
Say what you want and try to shade Dave - but this dude has attacked life like a beast and lived 1000 lives we can only imagine. And VH was never the same without him
100% Correct. Well Said. I Saw them as a back-up band and they were young and Explosive on Stage . Like no other Band Ever. Dont forget they had crappy lighting and whatever else to make the big band look better. But there was no denying who was the New Style Kick Ass Rock Gods. RIP EDV. Diamond Dave
About the time someone starts saying bad things about Dave you see a video like this and realize Dave is usually right about things Most any rockstar of years gone by you take away the hair first of course as they age but then take away the voice and all the instruments and the looks and you have nothing left. With Dave you have this always present fuel cell of smart ass intellectual philosophy that takes you back to places that were very real yet you can't discribe the true meaning and feelings no matter how hard you try. Dave gets the message through as only Dave can discribe. Thanks Dave.
Roth Rules!!! My "Glory Years" past have got me retrospectively in a fanciful reminiscence and somewhat wanting a rekindling of sorts: though troubled by an inability to do so, but Dave, who is older than I, still has the "Flavor of Life".Who else has that anymore??! He still "sells Smiles for a living". Dave is still The Man!!!!
tell you the truth it was so long ago i dont remember what i was commenting on, maybe it was someone being negative about roth and me sticking up for him, no biggie, im sure i meant it a light hearted way, i always thought his sarcasm was part of his gig so i never took it seriously, and i agree, everyone has the right to their opinion for sure so it wasnt a dig in any way, sorry if it came off that way, i should have been more explanatory in my comment
This dude is sooooo fucking COOL! He is so multi dimensional & entertaining. Imagine having a best friend like Dave Lee Roth & a cool pet of your choice, you've got your life made, that's richness
There must have been thousands of beer kegs at the US Fest in May of '83. David Lee Roth is so UNDER rated. So far I've turned three DLR fans onto the Roth Show who didn't know about it. There are so many fans who would love the Roth Show but don't know about it. David Lee Roth is a timeless legend! I think I'm going to put my smoking jacket on, go out into my garage, crack open a ice cold CAN of Coor's original, smoke some funny stuff and listen to some "Coconut Grove". Who wants to come?
David has always been awesome and many fans which there are just don't say it but I am good at watching and hearing what really is going on! I too dropped out because Van Halen would lose it's uniqueness lifting you up putting a spring in your step greatness! What an amazing time for everyone who enjoyed the band broke me when Dave left!
We need this man more than ever now... just saying! I love him like all the things he speaks of. He has been a part of my life for almost as long as I remember! LOVE DLR!
Loved the advertising talk. I was at a steakhouse with friends and was pointing out the manly-man Western stuff on the walls, the look and fonts in the menu, and what that had to do with creating a fantasy world around the food. These people had MBA's and medical degrees, but thought I was nuts! Dave gets marketing!
I’ll bet anyone a thousand bucks that you could set up a remote microphone and camera, tell Dave to reminisce about the old days and come back the next day and he would still be going on. He wouldn’t have tired out in the least. Just a natural raconteur 😁
Ladies & Gentlemen, The intelligent and well read David Lee Roth! Roth has lived a full life and it comes through his lyrics, vocals, VLOGS, fine art, etc. Enjoy!!!
. I remember the road trips to pick up Coors . It's good beer. Not really worth all the mileage but a good excuse to drive from Indiana to destinations west of the Mississippi . Those were fun trips.
I cant help falling in love with David. What a character.Could listen to him forever.lol.So interesting, intelligent, funny and down to earth. That laugh of his is contagious.🙂👍💙
Great conversation, it reminds me of setting on the front porch back in the 70's with a group of friends just wasting time having fun and learning. Thanks Dave for your stories.
Dave is absolutely right. I had an ice-cold Pabst on a very hot summer day as a teen. There is nothing better in the world. Instant love, but it almost destroyed me. I only smoke weed now. Dave chronicles the American experience very well.
DLR ,like him or not was Van Halen. I know ,Eddie VH is probably one of the top 5 greatest guitar players ever but ,DLR pulled your attention off off Eddie and on to him. I cant imagine going on a cross country road trip with him ,but it would be a blast. I really have never seen the guy when he wasn't smiling . I think these videos are pretty damn cool. How many musicians and or singers ,as famous as DLR ,could pull this off. Good for Dave.
I agree. Love Eddie for his guitar but DLR as a frontman was the cherry on the sundae. His vocals was a big reason that people bought their albums. Sammy was good, but I personally only bought those albums for the guitar, drums and bass. But, to each his own.

I’m lucky to make it to 56 growing up around so many rebellious people. lol. The things they did on substances were unspeakable. I wish you the best Dave. 🙏🏻
You rule Roth! I know you Ramble on, but you are right-on in your assesments! I love Van Halen's Music with your voice and "sonic screem" as I call it! I wish I knew you on a personal level, you would be fun to talk to to be sure!! I a really glad you and Eddie made "A Diffferent Kind of Truth"! I love your vocal style. Very origanal! Also you were smart and not letting Eddie get taken by Gene Simmons back before you got signed by WB. Your very orignaal in your music and video.
Thanks for talking and letting us know more about you, I congratulate you for your paintings and for your sympathy, greetings from Chile 🇨🇱 South America
Its clear to me after listening to him a good deal......Dave would be Dave exactly as he is no matter what profession he ended up in......which to me, is just fucking great. And makes HIM one of the greats. We love ya Dave.
70s dude, There was no 80, the 80s completely sucked, digital production took over and ruined everything. Van Halen was 70s band that happened to play in the 80s. They never lost their analog feel, and thats what made them great. Seriously dude, where are the megabands like Van Halen and Led Zepplin today, bands that will live forever? They don't exist. Digital audio has kililed them, and it has destroyed music.
Cool show. I didn't realize there were visuals on the screen while you spoke. I was listening to it like radio, then I just happened to walk by... now I'm watching it!
I was spending an otherwise lonely night at home, and I stumbled upon this. Dave is great and fun company. He Makes me smile and laugh. Thanks Dave
Agreed ! ✌️😎
Dave made the band and Wolfgang got the gig because of his dad, simple as that. And maybe if Wolfgang lost some weight he would know how to treat ladies what a spoiled fat brat
Love this guy. A rare breed where the mouth is fully engaged with the brain.
Nobody cracks David Lee Roth up like David Lee Roth.
I second that!!!!!

I saw David on the Joe Rogen podcast-got to say it was fascinating-he’s an intelligent man with many interests whose lived an interesting life.
100%
Dave you made Van Halen, I couldn't think of a better front man for the most amazing american rock band ever. You made history-be proud! Early VH songs are the best!

That he does. Very interesting person
“I miss the taste of the nuclear waste.”😁👍
He was still at the top of his game when these shows aired in 2012. Very breezy and easy to enjoy.
I can listen to him sing or talk about stuff all day. He’s an American treasure
truly, ICONIC
I agree
He's a breath of fresh orange sunshine.
Mr Roth kicks ass. I love a positive happy attitude. he always has it!
You can see why a lot of VH fans regard the Roth years as the real Van Halen...
His personality is such a key part of the music.
Ain't that the truth?

Bring this show back we need him more than ever now.
I love Dave! I can never say it enough! 😆 He’s the kind of guy who could have fun at an insurance seminar...”have a good time...ALL the time.” That’s Dave. 😎
Classic quote from Dave. My memory is very good. It's just short.
He speaks in colors.......his stream of consciousness is very trippy, but understandable.
Not only the most charismatic lead singer in rock history and underrated lyricist but a Cultural historian, and well-versed in sociology and medical.
Dave needs to do a speaking tour Id sit and listen for him talk for hours
