Ozzy snorted ants, pissed on the Alamo in a dress, bit off a dove's head at a contract sighing, didn't know what cities he was in for months... Where DLR is more into things that require long term training, practice, can't be bought. I guess snorting JD and drinking cocaine requires practice but...
He also took a boat down the Amazon river, ran out of good and water in pirahnna infested waters and within a week played the highest paid gig of all time at the US Festival with a top billing rock n roll band. This man does lots of things.
You see so much POSITIVITY in these posts BECAUSE, people are so happy to see DLR DOIN IT!! LIVIN IT. He isn’t retiring. He’s out there living the life that we all dreamed our Rock Star Heroes would be living. And it makes us happy. Because most of the other Rock Stars turned into disappointments.
They say never meet your heroes because it'll be disappointing... But not DLR. He's one of those who's truly something extra. When he told the woman interviewing, "I sell smiles for a living, here have one it looks good on you" showed what he's all about.
Kayaking under the Verrazano Bridge in the middle of winter is very dangerous. The current ,the freezing water ,the wind, monster ships going thru, not for the faint hearted !!!!!! Always liked David Lee Roth !!!!!
Van Hallen was always one of may favorite bands and was never the same for me when DLR. left. I heard all the rumors and blah blah about why he left and all the crap Eddy had to say about him but for me DLR was Van Halen. I have a new found respect and appreciation for him after watching this full show . Thank you having him on Joe !
What a fantastic interview. DLR supplies the bat shit, interesting stories and teeters on the edge of being "out there" the whole time, Joe sits there, fascinated, but still reels him back in when necessary.
Dave is like a modern day explorer of life. And his colorful descriptions of Life events paints beautiful portraits for us to visualize. I've read many times Errol Flynn, was very much like David Lee Roth.
As a runner and kayaker, I feel compelled to point out that wheelchair racers *destroy* the times for runners with two working feet. It's not even close.
First concert I ever went to was back in the early 90’s at blossom in Cuyahoga falls Ohio. Cinderella, Extreme, and David Lee Roth. My parents took me and my brother
Love David, his energy, love for life, down to earth nature, love of people are and real life experiences is amazing. He’s a true student of life. As a New Yorker, I know exactly what he’s talking about W 14th was desolate, dark, dangerous and scary yet we still went to the water to see the view of the Jersey lights.
Although I had my favorite songs, I was never a huge fan of DLR. But the guy is a little piece of history. Great stories. I haven't thought of David Lee for years. Great interview. Glad I caught it.
Kids David Lee Roth is the greatest front man ever. Kids greatest frontman ever. He was the 80s one time he was Mr. MTV Its was him and Mandona and Micheal Jackson where the shitnizz.

Rock-Star. Story-Teller. EMT. Modern American Adventurer. The Most Interesting Man In The World doesn't sell Mexican beer, folks....Dos Equis needs to hire this man STAT.
EVH fan...always had issue with Dave. This whole interview series...has made me rethink the man. He is one quirky weird dude, but man....renewed respect....mad respect now.
Dave ran the NYC Marathon in 6:04:43, which isn't good as a runner, but 99% of the US population couldn't run 26.2 to begin with. However, with his energy level, I would have bet that he would have beat even the elite runners!!
He finished before all the people who quit or decided to stay home. Mostly, though, it sounds like he enjoys the experiences. I’d want to finish quickly to end the pain.
Cool story I liked hearing stories from my uncle's and the wild things they did. I worked in some old folks home's as a maintenance guy here lonely so I spent time with them and listened to there stories as well and I actually enjoyed it. Old folk places or retirement places they sold there house because it's to much for them now or don't want it they have a apartment and still live normal lives maybe have a nurse come once in a while. It's the extended care's you hear the horror stories' about I've worked them as well and listened to the patients stories there lonely so I made time for them the smile's on there faces was worth it. The nurse's just don't do much If I was a nurse I'd be in there spending time with them makes a shift more pleasant and the hours go by fast what's the point of being a nurse if there is no Patch Adams thrown in.
He probably sprinted it the whole way..he has the energy to do it...but he wanted to show humility and spare everyone's feelings....he's a National treasure...I salute you DLR
DLR. Probably one of the more entertaining rock stars just listening to his different stories. And he managed to navigate it all without getting hitched and tied down. I bet feminists hate him.
Feminist here. I adore him. Any man who defines his ideal woman as having an IQ of 150 (in addition to wanting to have sex all night before turning into a pizza) gets my vote. And he's clearly fully aware of his own flaws despite being blessed with intelligence, charisma, and a very fine body. There's not too many of those about, I can tell you.
What he’s leaving out about the kayaking is what lower Manhattan looks like from the water at night. Many years ago I was in NY on business and a company took us on a boat trip below Manhattan and part way up the East side under the bridges. I’m sorry my wife wasn’t with me because it’s the most romantic view I’ve ever seen in my life.
David's energy is unreal.. gotta love it
@David Shaughnessy Alex must have dropped off a kilo or two at the studio ur right
I can listen to David tell stories everyday
I prefer him to Joe.
@@jimgritty7064 fellow, Dave needs someone like Joe to reel him back in. I dont think Dave is good on his own
Forsure
Forsure I can listen to Dave all the time also
Yah man me to.
I thought Ozzy Osbourne had crisma but David Lee Roth is on another level of greatness. What a legend
I love Ozzy, but in the intellect and charisma departments Dave laps him a dozen times.....lol
Agreed!
Non-stop talker, what a rocker!
Blue-eyed murder in a size five dress!
What energy!!!!
And still,unchanged
Come on Dave, gimme a break……hey, hey, hey……one break….coming up.
Did you miss me after I got a phat city address?
Man just told a story about kayaking in New York and I listened like it was the secret to getting a billion dollars!
It is
That's talent
right, DLR is captivating
DLR is like the opposite of Commie Trump --- everything he says is true and terribly interesting and uplifts your soul
@@lukebuchwald9252 Commie Trump? Had to go there? I bet Diamond Dave has the same work ethic Trump does.
He also took a boat down the Amazon river, ran out of good and water in pirahnna infested waters and within a week played the highest paid gig of all time at the US Festival with a top billing rock n roll band. This man does lots of things.
I wonder if he ever kayaked the PANAMAAAA canal.
JoPo: Damn that's funny. I"m not worthy.
Well played.
Not clever
I love David Roth! I never knew he was so articulate. What a nice man. He's humble and intelligent.
Our paths, DLR...intellegent, yes, humble?...Not so much.
@@tomdulle1707 yes he is
@@lilianmaher2809 give one example-one-where DLR was humble.
I could do mound of coke and never reach his level of energy and enthusiasm, espicially if I was in my 60's.
Very cool....just got back into kayaking... great for the bod... great story. .
What a singular dude.. his mind speaks in jazz and it's mesmerizing. What a story teller, performer, and all around entertainer!
Kayaking in the 90s in New York is the most 90s thing that could ever been done
I canoed all around Brooklyn in the 70s...with 6 pack beer listening to Stanley Clark school days *

Dos Equis - Roth is The Most Interesting man in the world.
Blue Collar Studio if they cast him as himself in the ad as " the worlds most interesting man" it would be genius.

You gotta respect a man who has EMT on his resume BEHIND lead singer for Van Halen. That takes a special kind of humility.
He is by far the most interesting performer I've ever heard. Long live DLR!
David Lee Roth ! Lives life !
he seems so chill
One of a kind.
How cant you love this story of kayacking....he the best..the story is better that it was illegal..
I love these DLR interviews!! Just so entertaining.
So charismatic and intriguing, I like how hard he cracks himself up over every corny joke he makes
