He signed my jacket in 2003 and I still have it in a bag lol it’s a very good signature he has it down better than anyone that’s signed anything for myself
Got to go backstage after they opened for Bad Company in D.C. in 1999. DLR took a while to show up, and I hung out with Ray for a long while. Great guy, down to earth, one of my favorite meet & greets. And yes, DLR showed up and was everything you would hope he would be. Fun night! I mentioned to Dave that I loved the fact he recorded a Spanish version of EEAS, and he quipped that Ricky Martin had nothing on him. 😂
Damn you ask the man a question about DLR and then snatched that shit from him and proceeded to burn up the vibe until it was spent and then threw in back into his face hahaha....
@@ExploreAmerica Someone is unnecessarily sour. That's ok though, because I get off a little bit knowing my words brought you just enough misery to cry about it. Dave is the goat of all rock stars. No one did it like him, and no one ever will again.
David Lee Roth is an aggravating old man… but back in the day, he was a god among front men… there are only a couple of people in the history of music that can compare to him as a front man I’ve seen Van Halen six or seven times before 1984.. their shows were legendary
Super interesting to hear his insight into why Dave seems to have refused to play most of his solo tracks since the tours for the albums. I would have loved if he played more Eat Em and Smile and Skyscraper songs later in his career.
I feel exactly the same. I saw him in 2004 in Atlantic City and he did a great amount of his solo stuff, but I’m really not sure he didn’t have enough confidence to do his own thing. 😊
Ray I believe played with Johnny Winter...My friend was his bassist for the last 15 years..Saw that 02 tour 13xs Sat in for Dave's but left when Sam came on
David Lee got a lot of his ideas and personality from Jim Dandy. Seems like I remember reading about it somewhere for I think David Lee actually talked with him about it.
People say Van Hagar is cheesy, but the No Holds BBQ is far and away the cheesiest, worst, most embarrassing thing any member of VH past or present has ever produced. It’s both an earache and an eyesore.
@@KokoTheGorilla69 That’s because there was absolutely nothing of worth on Dave’s farce of a release. At least Van Hagar has the best power trio going.
Dude...we want to hear Ray go on with DLR stories for Hours.
Love David Lee Roth 💎 !!
Diamond Dave is the definition of coolness for me!
😂
His David Lee Roth impression is fucking hilarious 😂 🤣🤣🤘
So good!
Nothing more from this ? Would love to hear more from this guy ! DLR is a legend !
“Luzier, don’t don’t tell them you’re going to bed, you tell them you’re going to the biggest party they’re not invited to”. Gotta love DLR 😂😂
He signed my jacket in 2003 and I still have it in a bag lol it’s a very good signature he has it down better than anyone that’s signed anything for myself
Ray is cool af and a badass to boot.
Hot Dog And A Shake is my favorite solo song from him.

Ray is the man. Cool dude!
DLR is the GOAT.
Someone just learned the word goat

I think he has a true genius...love he's art.
Absolutely forever!

He was aggravating even back in the day.
OMG,RAY does a FANTASTIC DLR impression!!! THUMBS UP!!!
Diamond Dave 🤘
This was cool, also Henry Rollins does a killer David Lee impression.
HenREEEEEE......
He ghost wrote DL's book "Crazy From the Heat "

Great albums and bands. Shame.
@@alan22470 I wish the proper Eat Em and Smile reunion happened
Right?!! His solo catalog is kickass !

Loved 9.0, if you know you know.
DLR is the best.
Ray is great! 🤘
I still have a copy of No Holds BBQ.
I'm a DLR fan but that video is hard to stomach --- total weirdness
Let the guest talk!
Dave was in VAN HALEN, Sammy was in a different band entirely know as Van Hagar. Two totally different things.
No comparison between DLR and Hagar. Roth is the man!
It's Diamond Dave, not "The Diamond One."
An interviewer should let the guest talk.
Yes, that barbecue video is bizarre. :-).
Tobacco Road is a cool cover.
Diamond Dave ... We love him
Tobacco road
Dave is true artist
Prince was called a genius, Dave is right there with him!
Ray I believe played with Johnny Winter...My friend was his bassist for the last 15 years..Saw that 02 tour 13xs Sat in for Dave's but left when Sam came on
💎David Lee Roth he has great showmanship
DLR solo work is 💎 Solid 💪💯
absolutely right about Gigolo from the 1920's - Dave did it better than Louis or any of the Cotton Club legends --
DLR stew. That's brilliant!
Sammy who?
Great drummer.
no holds bbq! bought one at merch table vhs sam n dave tour!
Evis was the olden days Justin Bieber, David Lee Roth was the real king of rock and roll
Sorry sam....im.a David fan.....
This interview was way too short. What a rip off!
and before there was DLR, there was Jim Dandy, black oak arkansas.
David Lee got a lot of his ideas and personality from Jim Dandy. Seems like I remember reading about it somewhere for I think David Lee actually talked with him about it.
My buddy was their Drummer Bobby T Torello
David Pre-Roth, haha
@@JCDwyer i like that.
Pink Floyd the wall just kookier!
He's still alive right? Just viewed something about him being in a coma or dead. I'm not buying it.
David who ?????
Banner? 😊
You have to be a true fan to talk up a bunch of miserable covers of karaoke favourites.
Dave never sings the songs the way it was recorded. He talk sings and adds his own arrangements. I don’t want to hear that.
Then listen to the album..
holy shit, I paused and went and watched the bbq video. MARTIAL ARTS was too cringe, I had to bail.
Can’t stand how he talk-sings through songs.
People say Van Hagar is cheesy, but the No Holds BBQ is far and away the cheesiest, worst, most embarrassing thing any member of VH past or present has ever produced.
It’s both an earache and an eyesore.
The difference is only hardcore fans know about the BBQ video while the entire world was subjected to the nutless garbage that was Van Hagar 🤡

David Lee Roth is a legend. I have no idea who that other guy is. Johnny? Who's Johnny?
Grew up (teens) in the 80's...Van Halen will always be David Lee Roth
