BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT IN 2022 - TIMELESS!!!! INSTRUMENTS - LEAD VOCALS - BACKGROUND VOCALS ---- BEAUTIFUL!!!! I was born in '62 and remember this as a child!!!!
A timeless classic that I love hearing as much as I did in 1966! The supreme quality of the Blossoms and the band with his voice make this so surreal and beautiful. I was just out of high school and deeply in love !!! This song made it even better.!
I got to see him live 15-20 years ago at Peele's Palace in Florence, KY...wintery night and very low attendance but the 'show went on' by the multi-Grammy award winner. Pure music...
Great choices. I also like Baby I Need Your Lovin as well, but Poor Side of Town is also my ultimate favorite Johnny Rivers song for me. This song gives me Southern California feelings and emotions
I’m CONVINCED that this man was a full fledged Native American or indigenous SINGER, and that his BEAUTEOUS Voice was One in a Life Time WONDER!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤and ONE I’ll LOVE 💕 FOREVER!!!!
Here's something weird that only nerds who have a phonographic memory like me would notice. This song was released in August of 1966. One month later, the Mama's and the Papas released "Look Through My Window". The two songs start off with the exact same drum riff, and I think The Wrecking Crew's Hal Blaine plays drums on both songs.
Sorry, not HQ. High freq distortion and EQ is off. Working in the broadcast industry for over 40 years has, apparently turned me into a fidelity snob...sorry.
Not so much a snob in this case, because the original recording is a 360° masterpiece, including the engineering and production. This is like listening to a worn out 45 on a suitcase player. That's a fine vibe and all, but I came here for the recording, and THIS AIN'T IT.
1 of the greatest love songs ever.
Agreed...
👍
The backup singers have angelic voices. Rarely do they get to sing lead in a song but they do and make this song even more beautiful.
The backing vocal is The Blossoms: Darle Love, Fanita James and Jean King!

The last minute of this song, once the backup singers take over, is some of my favorite music from the 60s. So beautifully done.

My favorite Johnny Rivers song. Slow Dancing is a close second.

What led you to the conclusion that Johnny Rivers was Native American?
@@BigBri550 Because I know MY PEOPLE!
@@Virus-xm7qc Then I hope you weren't taken in by Iron Eyes Cody: he and Johnny Rivers are both Italian Americans.
@@BigBri550 No , you’re VERY WRONG, because I know MY PEOPLES!

Virus boy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You are correct.
Love. And he's got the best name.
Nunca me canso de escuchar esta cancion de J. Rivers.

So astute of you to notice. I hadn't picked up on that. Yes, same riff, same drummer ;-)
Hal Blaine, Joe Osborne, Larry knechnel, leon russell session leader.
Oh the memories : )
To me you were the greatest thing , This boy has ever found
The Blossoms is what really makes this song.

Of all the hits Rivers had in the 60s and 70s this was the only one to go to #1.. Unfortunate irony.

Maybe you should adjust the frequencies and do better :)
Audio distortion cannot be fixed. Same as making a blurry picture crystal clear...can't be done because information is lost.@@tuck8004
Thank you, HX, I appreciate your take on this.@@hxhdfjifzirstc894
Not a Republican sounding song, which evidences human evolution.
