This dude is hilarious. He’s like a modern college slacker thrown into the Nordic mythology and somehow still finds a way to just smoke weeds and relax.
And has the coolest gadgets, Ingrid and his boat
It’s “weed” not “weeds”😂
And everybody smokes it, not just “college slackers” ❤
and Heimdall is totally like a school Bully
@@RobGordonJCtodo mundo? Yo no conozco a nadie que fume esa cosa que te carcome las neuronas, no generalices 😹
They seriously did not have to kill off Freyr. He was the only biological family Freya had left who didn’t resent her or was cruel to her. 😢
Njord isn't confirmed dead is he?
@@ainsleyharriot6060 It's the last of the Norse saga so yes he's dead sadly and yes @Passive Aggresso was right, the portal was next to everyone, there was a need for any of them to die which is why I lost my shit when I realized he died
He had to die
@@Aki-kh2qe-StreetKidZZZ that God someone that actually knows Norse mythology
@@Kodousinx i don't get your reply, you mean that the other commenter knew about Norse mythology due to the fact that Freyr dies from Sartur in the poetic saga? That I know it as well because I too know of Norse mythology (or most mythologies for that matter), however last time I checked in Ragnarok Kratos wasn't in it, Loki and Heimdall killed each other, Odin was eaten by Fenrir and not beaten by Loki and Frigg, Thor killed the world serpent and dies few steps afterwards due to the poison instead of the world serpent go back in time and Thor dying by Odin and list goes on, sure they patched some things into the mythology but they left others they could have leave out one more and especially since it was a lot easier to be done due to their positioning. I am not saying it's a bad game, it is epic. If that's not what you meant please elaborate
Freyr seems like the most good natured God in the entire GOW universe…
Pretty much every single god has held a petty grudge or is overly stubborn at some point or another. But he forgives others and apologizes for his mistakes almost instantly with genuine sincerity and humor. I totally get why he’s the only one who knows how to keep peace between the Elves…
Tyr, the real one
He even approached the Aesir and offered to teach them Vanir magic in order to improve relations...
...until Odin imprisoned him, wanting to get more than crop-improving magic
Fitting for a peace god
I love that he’s so boyishly charming-very carefree but also kind and gentle. Such a memorable character imo
Couldn’t have picked a better person to play him than Brett Dalton
@@ironstranger314He is a good character, but I kept seeing him as Lord Farquaad or the E meme.
@@ironstranger314Chris Pratt could have done the role if ya asked me
@@garrettlich7140 not as good as Brett
@@ironstranger314 not even gonna argue for nor against that, all I’m saying is Norse star lord here is pretty cool….(looks at non existent person in the background) what do you mean that’s not star lord
This guy was one of my favorite characters in the game. I was incredibly disappointed when they killed him off. He was hilarious.
His Death at Surtrs hand is one of the cornerstones of Ragnarok
@@066kshitizvsingh4 True but they could have reversed that. After all Loki didn’t die by Heimdell. Fenrir didn’t eat Odin. Thor didn’t die from poison from the world serpent.
Like they could have that without his sword he would have died. But able to use it allowed him to survive. As in Norse Myth Freyr dies because he doesn’t have his magic sword.
Because that was supposed to happen. According to the Norse Myth, Freyr was killed by Surtr/Ragnarok and GoW did it accurately.
@@justme_6819 Well, not quite. But close enough lol.
Yea kinda
When he called Ingrid back it was one of my favorite moments in game. Great addition to the storyline, and it was sad to see him go.
He got his sword back only to die later. Damn
Who is ingrid? His gf sword?
@@Roxi22RNAFlol idk
Did anyone else feel having Freyr die right at the end seemed pointless? It didn’t feel like there was any reason for the story to just kill him off right there other than to give Freya something else to be sad about. And it seemed like everyone there could have just ran into Angrboda’s portal before Ragnarok slammed his sword again.
In the Myth, Freyr was prophecied to die by Sutr's swords during Ragnarok. So, i think they are sticking to the myth
@@andreheri4546 but it's weird because some fates got changed. Like loki and heimdall fighting each other, odin and fenrir fighting etc. Why not let him live instead of dying in an unnecessary way just to follow the myths. Or maybe have a better way of killing him off? Idk it's still a 9/10 game
He shirked off his responsibilities and did not fight as hard as he should. Finally, he had a chance to make things right and he took it to save everyone
No look at it again
They were late notice Surtr sword penetrate asgard
And only Freyr that realized and try to hold the blaze
And Angabord came
Freyr try to give them a time to run
Look at how crazy the blast is when Freyr cant hold it anymore
If you think it pointless
Just try to give a meaning to it
Let's see. he's funny, he clever, he might not be the strongest but he's strong and through his charisma he managed to unite the elves AND bring them to the battlefield. He's f@(king awesome
He was strong enough to hold back Surtr for a while. Now that's a lotta power.
@@anjaneyasreetrout2444He did LITERALLY hold back the end of an entire realm, now that I think about it...
Freya losing Baldur : OH NO!
Freya losing Freyr : Anyway...
Baldur’s death was needless but freyr was his choice. Although i do wish her reaction was more sad but it happens
That's because Freyr died on his own terms. He sacrificed himself to allow others to escape.
I mean to be fair, Baldur died while the two of them weren’t on the best terms whereas Freyr died after both him and Freya united and moved on from their previous fight so there’s a difference. There’s no immense guilt or excess pain haunting her regarding Freyr’s death cuz he died on his own terms and they had both reconciled by then
Well, to most, losing your child is much more painful than losing a sibling.
To people giving weird answers to a joke comment.
It's because Baldur was the only thing she could cherish at the point of her life where everyone was against her.
So she cherished him for better AND worse.
Freyr is in the tenth realm now and founded CHADAHEIM
Where all the fallen Chads go ( We miss you brok)
Brok definitely resting there
@@dustinalecxander8647 no soul needed to go to CHADAHEIM, if youre a chad that is.
Brok is runnin that shit.
@@imslowerthanlight.1739 The chads are welcomed by Aphrodite's warm embrace.
Man speaking facts
Everebody just awkwardly walking around during the arguement between Freya and her brother
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Having brett dalton play freyer was an AMAZING decison, especially after his role as Grant Ward in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
He can be so intimidating.
im dying when freyr and brook give a salute to atreus
Brook LMAO
he is the example of a powerfull man that is a leader cause his kindness, a prove that love is the best way to guide
In game yes, the best.
In reality, not so much.
@@lexex2550 you'd be surprised
Brok's death was validated. If he didn't suspect Tyr being Odin, they all would've suffered a fate worse than death
But as for Freyr, his death was not emphasised enough and plus, there wasn't a sendoff for him unlikr Brok
Indeed. If Brok hadn't pressed Odin's temper to break his cover, they all would have been led into a trap and then been slaughtered. In a way, he saved the group, his friends, and his brother.
Freyr held the realm together to buy the others time to escape though and we've known brok since the beginning of this story so a burial for both wouldn't make sense.
Which is ironic because his death is the only one that matches how he dies in actual Norse myth. In myth, Freyr was fated to die at the hands of Surtr come Ragnarok.
Heimdall and Loki were supposed to kill each other.
Jormungandr and Thor kill each other.
Odin was supposed to be swallowed and killed by Fenrir.
@@SteelBallRun1890 lol the one time the writers try to be lore accurate and it ends up being such a lame and emotionless moment.
Freyr's death was a noble sacrifice, if hes not holding Surtr's sword there would be no next god of war games.
I have high hopes that Freyr will return in a future game. Just like how Athena reached the higher plain of existence for her sacrifice to save Zeus. Freyr sacrificed himself to save Freya, Kratos, and Atreus. He could serve as an ally to help Kratos and the crew if, and when the other gods of the higher plain will try on them.
Looking up who played him, how did I not realize this was Brett Dalton playing him lol.
He does an amazing job, for those not in the know he's Mike in Until Dawn and more popularly played Agent Grant Ward in Agents of SHIELD. Glad he's getting more roles.
Mike from Until Dawn - I KNEW his voice was familiar
Damn I loved Mike, I really didn't recognize him here. The charisma and wisecracks do show through for the both of them though.
I immediately recognized his face as Mike from Until Dawn. I gotta admit, it a bit was strange seeing him be more serious than funny, but he does a great job.
I love that guy
Freya: "General"
Atreus: "Sir"
Sigrun: "General"
Hildisvini: "General"
Eir: "Sir"
Freyr: "Hey Bud..."
4:15 the moment mimir realizes they are screwed 😂
20:46
It sounds weird, but I’d love to see the actual actors in their mo-cap suits performing this scene.
One of the better humoured characters. Truly disappointing that they killed him off.
I know it's video about Freyr but can we get some love for the dark elfs on 15:20?
It's just wholesome
The one that looks like a mummy is a light elf I'm pretty sure.
I believe her name was beyla, surprisingly she's depicted as dark elf also one of Freyr's companion. Umm, what's his name of light elf?
@kaVemuTa oh yeah! that's his name! Thanks
Love how when Falcon Freya talks to Freyr, she looks at him with one eye like any normal bird does. Love that attention to detail
the first time I played that part where you're carrying Freyr and running, I laughed so hard. Cause this is the first time you're playing a vehicle chase/horse chase scene but you're just Kratos running.
he was by far my favorite secondary character he was funny and i am very dissapointed for they just killing him ... CAN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS I LOVE GET PEACE GODDAMMIT
F@(king no! Always the same shit, they make us love someone and then they hit us in the face full force with a sledge hammer
No… no they can’t 😢
@@l.aliban5122 yeah..
@@alisa0046 but good game tho
@@l.aliban5122 i lnow right never imagined God Of War would make me cry
Freyr is a mixture of being unbearable when it's the wrong time and delightful when it's the right time.
13:26 even Kratos is amazed. Hahaha
Way to go big guy👍
So Freyr’s fate was to burn in Asgard. They just got the timing wrong.
Lmao
That's mean, lol
'Prick' @1:18 was such a Grant Ward delivery 😁
Glad to see someone else pick up on mah Boi making a comeback
"I'd cut off your head but somebody beat me to it"
This is such a Grant Ward thing to say lol
Reminds me of Deimos, the story for Freya and her brother
Atleast Freyr died with more dignity
At least Freyr and Freya doesn't beat up each other the they meet again after very long time like Kratos and Deimos
Freyrs sword is probably be still around somewhere. Freyrs sword is just as powerful as mjionir and the leviathan axe so since mjionir survived the destruction of Asgard, the sword should've survived too. I say freyrs sword is as strong as the axe and mjionir because we see freyr sword literally fighting on even footing with mjionir durin to the bar fight on Asgard.
His sword was able to hold back Surtr for some time as well.
I like to think atreus found it somewhere and kept it as a reminder
freyr is actually like the "thor" for the vanir in the myths just less popular.. he was so powerful they gave him alfheim.
You can even fly w it
I hope Freyr is actually still alive somehow and returns in a future game. He dies in the original Ragnarok myth cause he doesn't have his sword. Perhaps with ingrid he survived and is just stranded on the wreckage of Asgard
So we get a funeral for Brok, but not for Freyr? 🤔
Is there a body left for ceremony?
Nope it got destroyed on Asgard when it got destroyed
I was expecting Freyr to be alot more serious but i like how laid back he is compared to the other deities.
He has his serious moments though.
Who never knew that Freyr is voiced by Brett Dalton aka Agent Ward from Agents of SHIELD
Recognized him immediately. One of my favorite actors, brilliant performer
Was thinking the guy sounded familiar through the whole game; finally looked it up... total wtf moment right there.
knew it straight away!!
Or gamers might know him better as Mike from Until Dawn.
Hail Hydra!
At 6:04 to 6. 17 in the video hard to argue with that guy's logic I mean you can't really expect him to be cheerful about the whole wedding engagement when the son of a b**** caused his people endless suffering was about to take his sister away and well set him on fire you wouldn't exactly expect him to be happy about the whole ordeal although there were better ways he could have handled it and also Freya is giving him a hard time unnecessarily because in his defense what if he did come after him I mean there's a reason she married the guy was to get into back off her people I mean like what was he even supposed to do there without even been the best decision to go after her not to mention he had every reason to think that she was dead cuz obviously that guy was not fit to be anyone's husband he was a monster plus he ended up banishing her in the end and turned her life into a living hell and unfortunately her son was all she had left at that point and she was so afraid of losing him that she basically cursed him by mistakes/accident because she never meant to cause him suffering and in the end he ended up dying because of the dumb decision she made but hey she's reunited with her brother and they're working this out although you can understand both of their perspectives cuz in her brother's defense he didn't know that she was still alive or where she was or what happened to her and well how is he even supposed to get to her he doesn't exactly have a passport to Asgard.
Like it dude, got a real dude here
Cant believ they brought in Grant Ward as Freyr!
He didn't need to die im still upset
Freyrs looks and acts like those kung fu and sword master from Chinese movies
And I love it
8:35 brok being literal F-wordT-word Uncle interrupting a family reunion😂
Giga Chad Freyr
The story of the brothers is very sad/depressive they lost everything
their kingdom, their parents, their others gods brothers and uncle/aunt all were killed in the war by the Aesir In the hands of Odin,Thor and their sons & brothers
It hurts a lot to think about how broken/Grief with a lot of pain and sadness in the heart, even depression they are and how much they mourn the losses they have suffered In this war and also in a peace agreement that went wrong.. 🤔🥺😔
I was just sad that the pets of the gods, especially the Gullinbursti Freyr's boar and the animals of Odin,Magni and Thor, did not appear in the game... 🤔🤧🥺😔 like and Bye!
Brett Dalton Ladies and Gentlemen otherwise known as Grant Ward/Hive from Agents of Shield
Best character ever and he died 😢😭
this video leaves out Freyr's contribution to the confrontation with Odin. we just cut to Atreus leaving for Asgard to planning Ragnarok
Contrived death. Hopefully the boy will retrieve Ingrid.
Happy Ragnarok everybody
Let's drink
I know this video was supposed to be about Freyas brother but dang I miss Brok
Mimir: We brokered a peace
Freyr: Where they at doe!?
10:55 he even got the being carried like a princess treatment
I wonder if he reminded Kratos of the first Atreus...
Imagine Freyr's reaction to kratos backstory 💀
16:22
🗿
He said Kratos needs a tan 😆. If only he knew
Freyr didn’t have to die or risked his life because he is the only family member Freya have left after what happened to Baldur in the previous game. But I understand Freyr wants everyone including his sister to be safe. Tbh I do love freyr and he is my favorite alongside his sister in God of War
6:10 “The man’s family SET ME ON FIRE. How did you expect me to react?” His delivery here made me laugh like a maniac during this scene and completely ruined it
Dude I know this is about freyr but birgir just fucking did a if im going down your coming with me
That man did not have to jump off that boat. Kratos was constantly jumping off of high things while flying and always somehow getting back up to what he jumped off of lol. I've seen Kratos jump on a goddamn Harpie, control it to attack other harpies, and then fly around as a means of travel. He didn't have to jump.
Time stamp?
He's alive, in the side quest you rescue him, he said he survived the fall by "rolling" and chuckles.
Birgir? He's survived that fall if you follow the dog after rescuing Freyr, you'll end up in creter, there's bunch of side missions there and one of them is finding Birgir
@@trihermawan9553 yeah I know that, but Kratos couldve done that and not come close to death
General, Sir, General, General, Sir, EY BUD
Always so funny to see how a fucking machine Kratos is he picks up Freyr when hes hurt and still runs like a mountain while doing so
The voice actor of Fryer could be a great voice for Sonic.
Possibly, I would rather have him for Scourge, should they ever choose to put him in a video game.
Never noticed that he's Agent Ward
I still don't under Why they killed Freyr.
Dude had the power to unite the elves
25:25 and the muses said on to him let loose the god of war and so forth Kratos once again new war but not Aries war of pure aggression or Athena’s wars of self defense he know war for what it brings and he once again looked deep into the fires of war and saw peace and hope for he was not the ghost os Sparta or the hound of the gods he was the god of war and he brought war to the deserving once again and once again calmed victory for him who will no longer see defeat so long as he draws breath
Freyr was sooooo cute why did he have to be killed off for? When kratos and Atreus visited groa shrine it didn’t show anything about that someone else would die or otherwise sacrifice so the others can escape
freyr is the best god haha!!! so chill
Maybe he’s not dead. I don’t know, we couldn’t see anything.
Brett Dalton man. I knew his acting was somewhat familiar
I thought Freyr like another uncle for Atreus on the mom side tho just saying and mimir is the uncle on the dad’s side
Kratos is not just a god of war, he's the god of vengeance
God of War, God lf vengeance, god of weaponry
wars are won by those who are willing to sacrifice everything 💯
All vanir gods are CHAD

I’m surprised it’s Brett Dalton doing his voice, Especially after his performance in Until Dawn. Lol

No. Most of the vanir gods left aren't warriors so they stay hidden in the forest instead of fighting.
There’s still Freya and plenty more gods who aren’t warriors that were no use in the war.
Are the light and dark elves from the first game same or different from freya and brotjer
@@rektl2036 Different.
13:13 Birgir cited Havamal.
Greta interfering because she knows full well Kratos would have butchered everyone else in the room.
it's crazy how if Baldur, Forsetti Heimdall, Mangi and Modi were alive or fought in Ragnarok modt likely would end in Odin's victory
Not really, since as long as Surtr destroys asgard Odin will always destined to lose.
Does this mean Freyr goes to same place as Athena. Hopefully they can expand on this
Why Freyr kinda look like Christian bale.
Nothing beats "Connor McGregor" Baldur tho.
Grant Ward looks nothing like Gorr
More like Colin farrell
At least Freya has a nice brother like brok with sindri
mmm Kratos vs Freyr would have certainly been an interesting little fight. The blades of chaos, the deadliest weapons in all the 9 realms capable of setting everything in Helheim ablaze vs...... deer antler knives?
Finally the things that kratos finds don't disappear in his arse
I think some folks are forgetting that Freyr in the og norse mythology is prophesised to die by Surtr in ragnarok. It's a shame bc as a fellow stoner i really fw his character 😂😂 but in the end he saved lots of lives by fulfilling his prophecy i just wish it coulda been some other way without him dying
16:26. if only freyr knew why krato's skin is that pale...
One of the only things I don't like about this game is that the elves didn't feel that important or memorable in comparison to the beings from the other realms e.g. the giants and dwarves.
Hey, bud-- General.
He's so cool
Freyr and Mimir the best characters in the game these two are a comedy and a figure together 🤔😅🤣😂 🤡
I wanted to know what happened to the brothers pets the Cats of Freya and the Boar of Freyr and where they are It's a shame they weren't added like the Odin and Thor's animals the Goats of Thor and the Wolves & the Horse of Odin they would be a great side quest to search for and used in the final battle at least the Freyr's sword was supposed to survive and be given as a gift and used by Atreus/Loki

Yeah. Some of the aesir gods set him on fire for a laugh then stole his magic sword.
Yeah to try and broker peace between Aesir and Vanir he tries to teach them magic, things like improve crop yields and such. Sadly the Aesir couldn't handle learning it and blamed their teacher, after having him locked up a mob of angry lower Aesir broke into his prison pulled him out and burned him.
