      I've never been to Sai Gon yet, so I can't compare. But I do know that Sai Gon and Ha Noi are the 2 largest cities in the country, and both have millions of motorbikes zooming around every single day. The pollution is real. Today in Ha Noi, it looked like a forest fire happened nearby, the air was so smoggy all day long. Visibility was very low. Very bad... T_T

      +Phuong Tran Very cool! Ha Noi is a great city. I love living here! Do you have any requests or recommendations for future videos?

      Hi Cory. Can you please show more diverse places around the city to show people that Hanoi is not just about the OVERCROWDED traffics . Indeed I find that Hanoi people do enjoy quite modern life with so many big entertaining places and shopping malls.. People can get lost in Vincom Mall Hanoi!!!! It is a bit annoying for me when many foreigners think of Vietnam as a really small country though Vietnam is not that bad . I am pretty sure life in Vietnam is getting into Western style way better than Philippines and Indonesia, no need to say Myanmar and Cambodia and India . The hygiene of India is a problem and for Indonesia, the huge income gap shown by lots of slums there seems to make Jakarta a bit sad for me .....I do not mean to offend any country but I really like how Vietnam is getting into Western style so well and so amazingly fast shown by entertainment places, movie theatres, shopping malls,etc. If you can ,please show more of those things so that many people who are just so mis-informed of Vietnam can get it correct...

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +2

      Absolutely. I understand, many foreigners have a different idea of what Vietnam is like. Nobody really knows until they actually come here. I used to think it was kind of small, but now I realize it's very big.
      I will try my best to show the modern and new Vietnam in my videos. There is a cosmopolitan flair in Ha Noi city, many visitors don't know or see that. They stay in the Old Quarter and only have that one experience in crowded, old streets, so they maybe assume the whole country is like that.
      Thanks for your feedback!!

    • @christinatran3354
      @christinatran3354 7 лет назад

      Haha yes, rumor is a problem even in this internet-life! SOmetimes it is a bit annoying for me haha. Oh by the way, you should definitely visit HoChiMinh city because HoChiMinh city is way modern than Hanoi also. HoChiMinh is the biggest city and really enjoy the Western style, surely better than Hanoi . I will keep watching and lets meet up in Hanoi when I get back home from Japan!! We should meet up haha!

    • @TheFreeFlow
      @TheFreeFlow 7 лет назад

      I for one would appreciate to see the cosmopolitan side of Vietnam. The old quarters are nice and have flair and all, but I´d also really like to see the more cosmpolitan side of it. And more of Vietnams night life too.
      @Phuong Yeah Cory said that a few times too, which is why i´d like to see Saigon too. Do you plan on making a trip to Saigon anytime soon Cory? Would be awesome!

      +MsSpitfire21 Oh... hehehe. Yeah, not everyone has learned that I've had a girlfriend for several months now. Her hand first appeared in my Nha Trang travel vlog.
      She has requested to never have her face filmed, and I even had to beg to get her to let me post a pic of us on my Instagram (@FEEDTHECORY). She's so beautiful but refuses to be on camera, which is fine. ^^
      Once in a blue moon you'll catch glimpses of her only on Instagram. So make sure to follow me there! 😎

      Thank you, I'm so happy we found each other. Neither of us were looking to really get into dating, but we clicked so well and liked each other so much, we just jumped right in. It's been a good 3 months now, and I'm so thankful to have her as a girlfriend, even though she lives about 100km away from me (sort of long distance... 1.5 hour bus ride away).

      That's not bad at all for distance. The first time I saw her hand feeding you I really laughed and thought, WHO IS FEEDING CORY? lol. I'm excited to see more of your Vietnam videos!

      +Louann Koh I'm glad you find it funny. Hehehe I don't mind it, but it seems there are quite a few people who don't like it or aren't ready to see me with a new girlfriend. I don't know. My girlfriend's hand will probably won't be feeding me as much in the future since it seems to bother a bunch of people. I know I shouldn't care what anyone thinks.... we'll see. ^^

      +andy stubbs Oh it's going to be so good! Yeah, it's a breakfast but also anytime is OK. The lady was selling it around 1pm and she had customers, including us, so even for just a quick bite, it fills you up any time. ^^

    Good catch on the ground pork and wood ear mushroom filling in different Vietnamese dishes. Had not try the Banh Ran Man but it looks good. I also caught your pronunciation of the "Ran" as "Zan", your gf is definitely coaching you well :-)

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад

      +Minh Nguyen I've noticed the pork and woodear mushroom in many things.... nem... banh cuon... etc. So yummy! Ah yes, I'm slowly learning northern Vietnamese style through her. I like the north style a lot, but I also have like no experience of southern Vietnamese except for 4 days in Nha Trang (furthest south we've been to). Even in central areas, like in Da Nang, my girlfriend couldn't understand a word some people were saying cause it was such a different accent and dialect. It really interests me about the variety in Vietnam!

      +Michelle Does she? Hehehe In the Nha Trang vlogs, her thumbnail broke off and other parts were chipping away. Hahaha These new ones are much better and prettier, I think. I will be making these kinds of 2 or 3 street foods in one video type of vlogs from now on. Keeps the video short but also adds variety and keeps viewer's attention longer. ^^

    • @TheFreeFlow
      @TheFreeFlow 7 лет назад

      Oh dear sorry but hells no. I really dislike these nails. They are neither attractive nor beautifull to me. But whatever floats your boats. Anyway looking forward to more streetfood videos too.
      @Cory Well seing the sheer size of the nails it doesn´t surprise me lol. Make sure she doesn´t use them against you ; )

    Does your girl friend have a sister? I really like the way she spoon feeds you. Mine asks me to feed her all the time.

      @CoryMay81  6 лет назад +3

      +Annisa Chau Actually, yes, she has a younger half-sister who just married last month and found out she's pregnant last week. I don't mind the hand-feeding at all. It's a sign of affection. I was in Hai Phong this past weekend visiting her and she hand fed me a few times, as did I to her.

    Wanted to ask...in countries like Vietnam and Korea...or in any foreign country basically, with sanitation standards and hygiene being different than here in the US...should a traveler be really concerned when it comes to food poisoning or is it generally OK? Am finally coming over soon...never traveled internationally before...

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +2

      +Dana H If you've never travelled internationally before, your stomach might take a few days to adjust. As precaution, you should be inoculated with latest shots before traveling. While abroad, avoid drinking tap water. Always have bottled water on you. Carry some wet wipes to wipe down surfaces. I always wipe all utensils with a napkin before using them. If the place has other people eating, or even a line, then the food should be good and fresh. If there are no people and the food looks old and stale, don't eat it. In any case, even if the place is spotless, there's still going to be new bacteria entering your body all the time so you could still get an upset stomach or sick. I've never had food poisoning while traveling, and I try eating everything so maybe I just have a strong stomach. I dunno. lol
      When and where will you be going?

    • @danahess1974
      @danahess1974 7 лет назад +1

      Feed The Cory ..South Korea...finally! Had talked with you and Marie when I first thought I would be going...but circumstances changed. Will be heading there in February

    • @888katiechau
      @888katiechau 7 лет назад +2

      The tap water in Vietnam is not clean but showering and brushing teeth is fine. I gotta tell you once you have the food poisoning there; anything you eat after that will be just fine. I guess your stomach somehow just adjust to the conditions.

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад

      So cool! Yay for making your dream a reality! Dress warm, February is the coldest month of the year in Korea. It hasn't been super bitter cold the last couple of years, but it still gets below 0°C. When I first moved to Korea in Feb 2013, there were weeks when it was down to -18°C in Seoul city. That was BITTER cold!!! Gloves, scarves, ear muffs, a hat, thick jacket, and long johns are a must during those times.

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +1

      Great comment. This is very true. Showering and brushing teeth with tap water is fine. Just don't gulp down glasses of it when you're thirsty. lol I've been in Vietnam for 5 months now, and I've never had food poisoning. But, I did have some stomach issues last month when I noticed I wasn't "regular" for many weeks. I went to the local hospital and they did blood tests and stuff, and found out that I had too much yeast in my stomach (called Candida overgrowth). It's a common issue when your body is adjusting to new foods and diet in different country. All foods have bacteria in them, and all of our bodies have good and bad bacteria to help process foods and other things.
      My levels of good bacteria declined, and the natural yeast build up in my system got out of control. It was a quick fix, though. Just started eating yogurts every morning, and drinking pro-biotic stuff. It built back my healthy bacteria in my gut and I feel more balanced again and haven't had any stomach issues since.
      TL;DR - Eat yogurts and drink pro-biotics while in Vietnam to help maintain your natural gut bacteria levels. You'll be fine. ^^

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  6 лет назад +8

      Fair enough. Don't worry, though. I've received enough negative feedback about the hand-feeding thing that I'll probably exclude it from any future videos. I'm glad people got to see it, though. It's just a thing couples do, I've seen quite a few young Vietnamese couples doing the same thing in public.

    Definitely like the rice porridge with pork meat. Seems very meaty, rustic and filling(I do prefer rustic food often). Especially the pork floss is very intriguing. I´d also try the the wood ear rice ball, I like wood ear mushrooms, though I noticed if prepared wrongly they can have a somewhat unpleasant texture. I´d actually also try the rice ball with the bean paste filling, I know the traditional asian red bean paste filling(usually always sweet and used as a dessert), but never saw that yellow bean paste before. Definitely something worth to try, especially if it is coated with sesame : P
    I might also try the rice and mung bean dish, however I dislike overly sweet things, i´m not big on that one. If the sweetness is subtle as you said I might give it a try too.
    Anyway other then the more cosmpolitan side of Vietnam there is 1 thing that has me very intrigued: The morning glory greens! I would love more dishes that contain it, alongside a description of what it actually tastes like.
    Another thing I wanted to ask you: Since you are in Vietnam, did you ever try the famous Mangostan fruits? If not I really recommend you give them a try, they are very delicious indeed.

    I remember when you were in Korea, you mentioned electronics are more expensive than in the USA. And it's true. Are electronics even more expensive in Vietnam?

    • @misterb1az3d
      @misterb1az3d 7 лет назад +1

      The import tariffs in Vietnam are ridiculous. You can expect to pay almost or more than double for any import products.

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад

      Blazed pretty much hit the nail on the head. I browsed around some name-brand stores, like Samsung and Sony.
      The prices were just as expensive as Korea, which is much more than what they go for in the U.S.
      A $1,000 Samsung TV in America would maybe go for $2,500 in Korea, and about the same in Vietnam.
      Korea is notorious for overpricing their own domestic goods to their domestic market. That's why many Koreans just buy online from Japan and ship it over. Even with import taxes, it's still cheaper than buying it in Korea. Same goes for cars and other goods.

I see young couples feed each other little bites here and there all the time. I also feed her sometimes but that's never caught on camera.

      Voice acting? That´s an interesting profession. I right now also kinda wonder what vietnamese voice acting is like...?(Outside of karaoke that is lol. Asians really seem to have a huge fable for karaoke. Is there any particular reason for that?)
