Step Brothers Movie Description:
Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) and Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) have one thing in common: they are both lazy, unemployed leeches who still live with their parents. When Brennan's mother and Dale's father marry and move in together, it turns the overgrown boys' world upside down. Their insane rivalry and narcissism pull the new family apart, forcing them to work together to reunite their parents.
Step Brothers is a 2008 American comedy film directed by Adam McKay, produced by Jimmy Miller and Judd Apatow, and written by Will Ferrell and McKay from a story by Ferrell, McKay, and John C. Reilly. It follows Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly), two grown men who are forced to live together as brothers after their single parents, with whom they still live, marry each other. Richard Jenkins, Mary Steenburgen, Adam Scott, and Kathryn Hahn also star.
The film was released by Sony Pictures Releasing on July 25, 2008, two years after Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Both films feature the same main actors, as well as the same producing and writing team. It grossed $128.1 million and received mixed reviews.

This movie is particularly special to me because it was the first R-Rated movie my uncle ever took me to, AND it introduced me to the music of LCD Soundsystem. Great memories all around 😊

This was the first R rated comedy movie I ever watched, it was Friday night I was 14 and my friend was sleeping over we'd been playing games and eating chips etc. and I asked my mom and she said it was fine but it was the unrated version and she forgot how bad it was. I never laughed that hard ever or since and my friend would rewind it because he was laughing at my laugh and she came in right as the bathroom sex scene came on and I was still laughing, and when I asked my mom why she didn't stop it she said because she saw how happy I was and how hard I was laughing and decided to just let us finish the movie
I remember my first time watching this was family movie night I believe and we recently purchased it from some supermarket the entire family couldn't stop blastin out laughing 😂😂
The Catalina Wine Mixer wasn't real, but fans of the movie turned it into a real event that still happens every year, as far as I'm aware.

Also, Kathryn Hahn is a gem. I mean she practically steals the show, no small feat in a movie with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. She rules every movie she's in!

I saw this movie at 15 and have watched it at least a hundred times since then. This movie has been a leading factor in my success in jobs I’ve had throughout my life. Every foreman or manager I’ve had has been able to communicate almost exclusively with quotes from Step Brothers 😂
Mary Steenburgen is the mother in this movie. Catherine Keener was in "The Forty Year Old Virgin". But I totally get how you could think they're the same person.
And don't get too weirded out by the nutsack...it was a prosthetic prop.
Yeah, John C Reilly actually is a drummer, and actually played the drums for the Catalina Wine Mixer.
So many callbacks to other films... the whisper fight, the vocal performance up on stage, wow they do not waste anything 👏

This was one of my grandmothers favorite movies. Yes, my Grammie. She loved it. 😂😂😂 she had an amazing sense of humor. “Boats & Hoes” was my ringtone on my phone for a while. I’d let my phone ring just to listen to it 😂😂😂 this movie will never not be funny. It’s genius. Talladegga Nights should be next. It’s hilarious like this one, if you haven’t already.

a family member of mine once was sleep walking. they picked up my shoe, threw it into the kitchen and said it was my dinner. they went straight back to bed. I did mention it to them the next day and they seriously had no idea about it. it was hilarious, tbh.

Catalina Wine Mixer is a thing actually, but THANKS to this movie. I guess some rich people liked the idea, and now it's a yearly event. It's not a corporate party like this one, but more like, you can buy the tickets online for a summer vacation with a lot of activities. From what I read from their web page, they do screenings of the movie in a theater in one of the islands.
My mom told me she once caught me sleep walking as a kid and I went into the kitchen and pissed in the trashcan thinking I was in the bathroom. I used to sleep walk a lot

My little brother used to sleep walk almost every night. I would be watching TV and you would come out and seem all bent out of shape but I knew he was sleepwalking lol.. All you had to do is say, "Jordan" and he'd respond, "huh"? "Dude go to bed"... "Ok"
Other times though he would scream at the top of his lungs as if he were being stabbed but it was all in his dreams and he never remembered it the next day.

As for horror, Near Dark, everyone reacts to The Lost Boys, nobody reacts to Near Dark, it came out the week after The Lost Boys and got overlooked, didn't have the teenage demographic but it's the superior vampire flick, far more violent, Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton are in it.
