The casting for the parents was perfect for the kids to play off. Theres so many hilarious scenes. John and Will made a few movies together but this is the best one imo.
I watched this this shortly after my father died. I was in dire need of a good belly laugh, and this movie nailed it.
Also, every time I watch this I forget that John C. Reilly is a respected, Oscar-nominated actor 😂💀
His performance in Boogie Nights is amazing

What makes the dinosaur dream funnier is it was all improvised. The director, I think, told the dad to go over and tell the two he wanted to be a dinosaur and kept urging him to do it so he went and they didn't skip a beat and said that's not possible. When it was over the dad told the director there's no way that'll be in the movie and he was like oh yes it will 😂

The don't lose your dinosaur line is so profoundly deep for this movie. So many adults are highly strung, have big sticks up their butt and have completely lost the joy of childhood.
I find the complete opposite. A bunch of arrested development going on. At least in the west.
"I once wrestled a giraffe to the ground with my bare hands" is such a genius and underrated line. I had to look up how much they weigh to quantify how insane of a lie that is and they can be 4,200 lbs lmaooo

Mary Steenburgen is an Oscar winning accomplished actress who has starred in films such as "Back To The Future 3", "The Proposal", "Elf", "Four Christmases" and "Book Club". Her film debut was in the 1978 comedic western "Goin South" with John Belushi and Jack Nicholson. She does a pretty decent job in "Stepbrothers" and held her own against Ferrell and Reilly. He laughed alot with the dialog here just as much as the physical comedy. Wasn't sure he was gonna dig it as much as he did cuz it's funny but really silly, as it should be.

This movie reminds me of my husband's oldest brother. He's 55, no job, living in Section 8, and expects his 85 year old mom to cook, clean, and do his laundry.
I told his mom that I will not continue this when she's no longer with us. She is cool with it.

This was one of my Grammies favorite movies. No lie. She would laugh her ass off. I also had “Boats and Hoes” as a ringtone for a long while. I’d let the phone ring just so I could listen to it. 😂😂 Didn’t care where either. My favorite part is them sleepwalking with the Christmas tree. I don’t know why, but I cried laughing at that part. This movie NEVER gets old. Will and John are hilarious together. Glad you liked it. It’s a classic. If you haven’t done Talladegga Nights yet, YOU MUST! It had me and my husband crying laughing in the theater. Seriously, it’s a must.
