    21 Jump Street Movie Description:
    When cops Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) join the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go under cover as high-school students. They trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, and set out to shut down a dangerous drug ring. But, as time goes on, Schmidt and Jenko discover that high school is nothing like it was just a few years earlier -- and, what's more, they must again confront the teenage terror and anxiety they thought they had left behind.
    21 Jump Street is a 2012 American buddy cop action comedy film directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (in their live action directional debuts), written by Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall, and starring Hill and Channing Tatum. An adaptation of the 1987-1991 television series of the same name by Stephen J. Cannell and Patrick Hasburgh, the film follows police officers Schmidt and Jenko, who are forced to relive high school when they are assigned to go undercover as high school students to prevent the outbreak of a new synthetic drug and arrest its supplier.
    The film was released theatrically on March 16, 2012 by Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It received positive reviews from critics and grossed $201 million worldwide. A sequel, titled 22 Jump Street, was released on June 13, 2014, and in 2015 a female-led spin-off was in development with main stars cast in 2018 and the first draft completed in 2020.

    Mel, in the original TV shows, it’s both Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise, who were the original 21 Jumpstreet duo that this movie is based on. They would sometimes go undercover as the McQuaid brothers. Apparently Johnny would only do the film it if they brought his old co-star along for the ride. Love the loyalty!

    Miranda rights come from a 1973 Court Case where a man named Miranda sued because he didn’t know he had the right to remain silent or right to an attorney. Supreme Court ruled in his favor.

    • @matthewpollock9685
      @matthewpollock9685 7 месяцев назад +1

      Furthermore, it is a myth that all suspects must be Mirandized. If a suspect is not read his/her rights, they do not get automatically released on a technicality, however, anything they say or do after arrest, upto and including a full confession may not be used as evidence against them so long as their attorney is even half-ass competent.

  • @-.._.-_...-_.._-..__..._.-.-.-
    @-.._.-_...-_.._-..__..._.-.-.- Год назад +46

    The Miranda warning requirement came about in "Miranda v. Arizona." The Court held that the police cannot use testimony by someone in custody without informing them of their rights before the testimony was given. People think the warning is required for an arrest to be valid, but that isn't true. It's just required for testimony to be valid (whether used in court, to establish probable cause or as a lead).
    If an officer arrests you for a crime, starts questioning you without ever informing you of your rights, feel free to tell them where you're hiding the body. They can't use that testimony against you in court. They also can't use that testimony to secure a search warrant. Even if they do, or they don't need one (say the location is publicly accessible), a good defender will suppress whatever evidence they find and the jury will never hear of it. If (due to the testimony) they find the body, your DNA, a signed confession and a video of you committing the crime, they can't use any of it to convict you. This is because they wouldn't have obtained that evidence without the illegally obtained testimony. This concept is known as the "fruit of the poisonous tree." An exception to this is if the police would have likely obtained that evidence anyways, without the testimony. It's best to remain silent, even if you think you did nothing wrong, and not rely on courts to rule in favor of your rights. As an officer, it's best to always read someone their rights as you're arresting them, to ensure everything they say is usable.

    • @billbill6094
      @billbill6094 Год назад +1

      Yeah, that "feel free to tell them where the body is" only works assuming you think the cops are going to be playing fair. Do not in fact do that, if it's your word vs a cop, cop wins. Also, they can still use your confession even if you aren't brought in under arrest.

    A lot of people thing Channing might be on the DL, but I think he is one of those people that is HIGHLY comfortable with his sexuality and likes to make others uncomfortable for the fun and hell of it, and if he is gay, thats awesome too.
    Also a lot of people who watched Bullet Train probably didnt catch the Brie Larson quote, "Is That Code for a Sex Thing" when Channing Tatum said it in the movie.

    Miranda rights comes from a Supreme Court case (Named Miranda), but they don't have to let the person go if they're not read the rights, they just can't use any statements made after the arrest as a confession. Point of them is to prevent coerced confessions.

    This is hilarious, but I wish it was shot in Vancouver, Seth Rogen’s hometown, who wrote the movie, because the original 80s series was shot there, like the original Highlander series was. “Seacouver,” my crippled butt. They could have added some great cinematography to this. Vancouver is one of those cities that adds so much to any movie. Depending on what kind of movie you’re making, different parts of the city are great for filming. Saving Silverman was watchable because of the location.
