19:43 one thing to note. There's several rocks you're able to jump on. However, he smashes them throughout the fight. If you're not careful, he can smash every rock, making it so you HAVE to jump and dodge each Shockwave.
You get a spell in chapter 3 called Spell Binder that removes your ability to use spells, transformations, and vessels in exchange for a large attack boost. Since erlang counters mostly everything anyway I just said fuck it and played vanilla monke stick game. Made me appreciate the Wukong's combat flexibility for sure... there isn't a single thing Erlang does that can't be conquered with your base kit.
I have yet to use it, and I am in ch4 of NG+. Not that it is overly important, but spellbinder breaks the immersion a bit as Er Lang is testing you to see if you are worthy to be Sun Wukong and Wukong never had spellbinder.
now if he wouldn't just dodge the 4 focus attack it would be more fun with spellbinder. I had to bait his attacks and tank the chip damage to be able to get my 8k crit.
I really like that you can get a hidden item by doing a side quest in a chapter and usually go into a secret realm in this game to make the endboss of a chapter easier. It feels so rewarding to do so. If you dont want this you can still opt to not use it or skipt the side quest. Wish they would have done that in every chapter. Btw: chapter 4 secret realm is the most beautiful game world I have ever been in. Its fricking gorgeous and I love all of it. All but 2/3 bosses who turn out to be super hard.
Erlang becomes a pushover if you focus on destroying his shield with specific spirits and the flask that reloads some of your fan meter with each sip. Makes him way easier than the final boss.
The final boss is easy asf if you cheese him. It's what I did. Just spam charge attacks while out of range. He's like malenia, if you stay out of a certain range he'll just idly walk.
@wubwubdododo5656 you charge while out of range. Run in and smash. As soon as you get aggro he'll rush you and he won't dodge the attack because he's in an animation
I just kept hitting him even while he blocked because his throws when you do, don’t do any damage to you so it’s just faster to hit him and break it than waste mana
I had no idea that you end up fighting the fox guy. If only his dream had instead showed him skinning the fox and eventually becoming an evil monk to be slain by a magic monkey.
Kind of proves all the issues with Elden Ring as Game Science being a fraction of the size of Fromsoft and this being their second game somehow created double the amount of unique bosses (and also way less padding in general). Even with repeats there's usually a distinct difference and they're nearly not as frequent as ER.
That’s because Wukong is a very linear game (compared to ER) where the bosses are the main selling point. Therefore, because the areas and world design aren’t given as much focus, the developers can focus all their effort on the boss fights. ER on the other hand is a much larger open world game where a lot of focus was clearly put into the level and world design. With such a large and detailed world it takes a lot more time and money for the developers to consistently fill said world with unique/varied boss fights. This is the case for a lot of open world RPGs.
@@jameslough6329 Wouldn't that mean Elden Ring should have more uniqueness to it being open world? What's the point of having an open world to explore when it contains less content than a more linear one (and Wukong really isn't linear, there is tons of optional areas and bosses).
@@arthurdurham Compared to other similar open world games such as BOTW or Skyrim, Elden Ring does have a lot of unique areas and enemy variety. As I said in my previous comment, reused content is a problem that a lot of open world RPGs run into since the developers simply don’t have the time or resources to fill such a massive world with completely unique content all the way through. FromSoft avoided this problem as much as they could in Elden Ring (the majority of areas in ER have great enemy variety) but they could not avoid it completely.
@@jameslough6329 My issue is that it has less unique content than a game by a smaller dev. Doesn't make sense to pad out the world for the sake of size if it makes you have less resources for actually putting in unique content.
@@arthurdurhamOnce again, as I said in my previous comments, you could make the same critique about padding and reused content with Breath of the Wild and Skyrim too. Except those games have significantly more reused content than Elden Ring does. When compared to other games similar to it (rather than Wukong which is in a completely different genre) you will find that Elden Ring has a lot less reused content than the majority of similar AAA open world games.
Of all of the end of chapter bosses, he was the easiest for me 😂 3 tries. First i lost on purpose because i didn't mean to even start the fight. The second I lost because I had him down to the last 1%, and my entire light combo whiffed, and he got me. 3rd i beat his ass

Side note, you talk in the video about how you kind of have to accept how cheesy some of the options in the game are and that’s kind of the point. Wukong is known for being incredibly tricky and mischievous
This is a great base game list! I would love to see a list on ng+ 5, even if you had to use mods to simulate it in order to save time, as ng+4 and on stop giving you any sort of progression when it comes to getting stronger, while the game just gets harder.
Also to add, i felt they are like Sekiro wannabes, they tried to make success in same way Sekiro did, but on top of that they added too much attack combos, and pumped bosses with lot of health and extra phases so you dont have time to get used to boss attack pattern, because its tedious you get only the taste of his attacks in second phase or at 30% boss life, so you dont have time to master some of his later moves to avoid. Damage sponges + lot of damage.
My top 5: Yellowbro, Hundred Eyed Daoist, Great Broken Sage, Yin Tiger, Tiger Vanguard. Honorable mentions: Duskveil, Wandering Wight, Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast, Yaksha King, Supreme Inspector. I beat Erlang on my 4th try so those guys gave me a harder time, that's why i didn't mention him.
My experience with this game was so different from others. I got the game day one, and on my first play through, I struggled with Captain Wise Voice the most out of any boss in the game. 😂 Chapter III’s wall really got me. Since then, i’ve finished the game on NG+4, I have a platinum trophy, I have even finished the gauntlet mode.. I struggled with Yaksha King and Yin Tiger THE MOST. Erlang is easy, The Great Sage is honestly more difficult. They are just tests of endurance. It’s a mind game. Do not let them trick you into thinking they’re the hardest. Because they’re not. They stagger, and they let you breathe more than you think. The Yaksha King hits disgustingly hard on NG+4. If you do not have his timing down, and if you are not pressing him the entire time, you will lose. And it is equally hard to continually press him at times with his wide sweeping attacks, and various AOE attacks. Thank god they gave him a low-ish health bar, or that fight would be the greatest endurance fight I’ve ever faced.
39:31 he doesn’t heal from the gourd sip but it does take one use away from you. And you can dodge his immobilization when you heal the second you’re done drinking from your gourd
The “Tiger Vanguard” is the actual chronologically the first Tiger Vanguard because that secret area along with Fuban takes place in the past. The first Tiger Vanguard we see is his son.
It’s amazing how different people have issues with different bosses, me and my best friend have been playing through our first playthroughs together and he kept telling me “yin tiger is insane yin tiger almost made me rage quit” mean while I beat him 2nd or 3rd try with little difficulty, meanwhile it took me almost 4 hours to beat yellow loong over 2 days and leaving him a couple times to come back later to beat him and for my friend he beat him in around 5 attempts…..wild
8:33 how did you do that pole attack? Edit: found it out, in the smash progression tree it's called Skyfall slam I believe and it's a second heavy attack after using resolute counterflow
Captain Wise voice takes like 40% more damage whenever you stagger him and hit him in the head, you can two shot him in ng+ with a 4 focus thrust attack and a light combo. That should make him easier for future playthroughs since you didnt seem to know that.
Pretty decent ranking if you fight them in the usual order. I went back to fight some of the optional bosses (e.g. the 4 Loongs) with endgame gear, which turned them all into chumps.
so scorpionlord was the hardest boss for me, 3 hours, 60ish tries, no other boss took me even close to that long. this game is beautiful because everyone can have different experiences and play the game how they like.
Extremely entertaining and hilariously funny sarcasm yet i would agree with your rating except couple of ranks.. Smart and wonderful vedio thanks for sharing 👍🏼🌹
Bro when you started off with the easiest and said the word Erlang I was legit about to close the video and throw away my phone. Took me a second to realize you meant the first time you fight him
Did anybody know for bishui the golden eyed beast you don’t have to fight him in the room you meet him in! If you look behind him there’s a like ice block and in the middle of the block there’s an opening where you can see stairs! If you go over there and use cloud step and place your clone in front of it he will tear it down and you can go in there! Now after you go in and follow the path into another big area he will show up again but this time he will be frost damage! So it’s pretty cool you can fight him as either or! I found him being frost damage ironically easier to beat

Been waiting on this
OH ive waited for your witty take on this game. Dude, what you said about non-void is so fucking valid though. I could not have said it better myself.
Haven’t watched you in years but I had a feeling you’d make this video
Side note, you talk in the video about how you kind of have to accept how cheesy some of the options in the game are and that’s kind of the point. Wukong is known for being incredibly tricky and mischievous
This is a great base game list! I would love to see a list on ng+ 5, even if you had to use mods to simulate it in order to save time, as ng+4 and on stop giving you any sort of progression when it comes to getting stronger, while the game just gets harder.
In the erlang fight, if you use the Azure Dust transformation he doesn’t attack you and you can take a lot of his shield down.
I was looking forward to this video ever since the game released
I just beat the secret boss of chapter 3, and I didn't even realize that there are apparently three more dragon bosses that I missed
Thanks for the video
39:31 he doesn’t heal from the gourd sip but it does take one use away from you. And you can dodge his immobilization when you heal the second you’re done drinking from your gourd
No, he actually heals.
People having difficulty in ng+4 and up not in their first playthrough the bosses hit heavier and have more health in ng+4 and up
Our Erland experience was wildly different. I built everything towards Chi build up and kept spamming the fan.
I still find it baffling how people struggle so hard with Whiteclad Noble, he just dies
That was pure Entertainment my Man 😂 Loved your Comments. Comedy Gold for sure.
Smart and wonderful vedio thanks for sharing 👍🏼🌹
love your sense of humor
Bro when you started off with the easiest and said the word Erlang I was legit about to close the video and throw away my phone. Took me a second to realize you meant the first time you fight him
Yellowbrow made me crash out because i didnt understand his mechanic 😭
Don't fell bad there are players that didn't even know they could upgrade their gourd so at least that was your issue
I had no idea you could knock Yellowbrow out of his Goldform. I did it by playing the long game and felt like I was going to have a Stroke by the end.
