That is a serious building! You certainly have great skills and I hope the wind is at your back and you are safe and warm inside when the leaves turn! Amazing, keep going!!
Fun episode cheers I learnt a few somethings new, 😀 looking forward to the differential video 📹 awesome content as always Thanks for taking us along for the journey.
Your railing is looking great and the nighttime lighting will look really cool and is a nice safety feature. Evidently the fence has enough juice to discourage a breakout lol!
I’ve been watching for a few years now. Easily one of the most relaxing, rewarding and satisfying channels on here. Thank you for documenting the process!
I seldom comment but LOVE watching. I am really enjoying the finishing touches. It is such a beautiful building that is slowly becoming a cozy home. Thank you for including us in the journey.
It's more like you built and mounted all of the uprights in only two days. That was some excellent design and fitting. It's going to be a focal part of the home.
OhMyGosh, that balcony is going to hold an elephant! Serious heft there. Just know - any griping is only done to look out for your safety when you’re up high. You mentioned yourself you’ve almost stepped off. This cabin is going to outlive us all for generations to come ❤️❤️❤️
Stair lighting is an awesome idea! Love the stout post. Looks so good. Healthy looking goats! Always look forward to see a post of your pop up! Take care.
Christmas is doable! A steady pace will get y'all there. The Homestead is moving forward now. Summer will be here before you know it! Get a broody hen to hatch the turkey eggs?!? 👌 👍 😊
Really like that they match the ceiling beams. I'm hoping you all get finished & celebrate with your first Christmas in your log cabin. Looking forward to seeing the kitchen eventually completed & what materials/appliances you chose. Thanks for the video & have a great week!
Those are mighty fine Goats Y'all have there. They sure have grown. Yay on Turkey eggs guys! Love those huge beams up on the balcony, the lights sound amazing too! It's all coming together nice and steady Stephen and April. It's already a fine Cabin but the finish line will be spectacular. One day at a time, one step at a time. We understand, you have a Farm to run, lots going on. Hoping for a December move in, that would be fantastic! Be safe Y'all, blessings!
Hey. Definitely not trying to give you grief but check it out from our side of the screen. We see you doing something that looks somewhat 'omg' and although we still want to watch the video we are on edge because if something does go wrong we are pretty helpless. I'm in Australia and couldn't reach you quickly - and a lot of us seem to be older. That railing - fabulous, love the idea of the lighting.
Love the big thick posts for the railings. Its going to look so nice. Like the your idea of the LED soft lighting for the balcony and stairs at night too.Smart idea. Yeah the truck and the pigs are throwing you a little curve ball but not as bad as the Alaska, covid and surgery curve ball that had you down for awhile. Always something to get in your way of the build progress but your getting there and I don't think Christmas is out of the question but I guess it depends on how many more curve balls get thrown at ya. It's going to be a beautiful home when you complete it that's for sure. The goats are funding practicing there ramming with there heads and that male goat learned his lesson right quick, don't touch the fence LOL .I like when you can add in little things like the goat tour maybe the pigs best time LOL . Hang in there Stephan God's on your side .God Bless you and your family.
Glad to see ,from a safety standpoint the railings started. The lighting on the floor excellent idea. Everything takes time Stephen step by step you'll see the finish line. Be well, greetings to April and the girls
Wow Stephen, you do really fine work! I’ve followed you and your progress from the beginning. What a Beautiful place your building there. I’m very envious of all your skills. Great job buddy.
You have some great wood working skills. Interesting to watch your work. I'm glad you are doing this also, you don't need to fall off it again... lol Sweet dog! You work so smart! Great gig Great design for the deck lighting and stairs. My goodness, a lot going on, I sure hope you all are in before Christmas. Thank you for sharing. All the best. The goats are pretty. Ooopps! He found the hot fence. lol They are so playful ... and curious.
As one allergy sufferer to another a few tips to help you out. You can use a medi pot and rinse out your sinuses. I don't because it feels like I am water boarding myself. I use warm salt water in a tablespoon, plug one side if your nose and snort it up into your sinuses, repeat on other side. Sounds gross but works. Rinse your eyes out with saline solution. Use Ayr cream in your nostrals or a thin layer of vasoline. Wear a mask when working outside. These things keep the allergens out of your sinuses. Or take antihistamine daily. It gets worse as you get older. You are a hard working man Steven, take care of yourself. I get really sick from allergies and it takes me down. 5 minutes a day, I have 20 years on you, you have to take care of yourself first. I see you suffering and do hope you try these remedies. The 1st one is to make it better. The rest is preventative. I hope you don't take offense, my intention is to help. Your home will be beautiful.
Thanks for the vid Steve, as ever instructive, bloody great lumps the posts but I suppose you will get comments about them, don't you just love the folks that stand in the crowd heckling people who are taking part or doing something useful when the would not have a clue how to do it themselves, It's coming together great mate one tip though I'll say it quietly so the lady viewers don't hear me be careful lifting the post's they must weigh a ton don't want you laid up having developed a third lump down there, painful. Cheers mate from the UK.
Another awesome job, looks amazing....you're doing a great job. Keep up and it'll go faster than you think so you’ll be in by Christmas. I'm enjoying watching you build as it brings back so many memories of hubby and me building...figuring out ways to do repeative jobs with a template or something to help do the job easier. Stay safe, be careful, take it easy and keep warm and dry.
@@hickoryridgehomestead9177 yeah, it was for us too once we were dried in and could work inside, we closed off the stairway and worked in the basement the first winter and finished it, got it ready so we could get the water, furnace and water heater installed, then in the spring worked on the ground floor getting everything done. Amazing how it seemed we'd never get it done but we kept plugging along and then, bam, it was done. You're doing great and it'll be done before you know it.
It's coming along so well with your hard work and tenacity. May I ask what happened with the neighbours land that you were all clearing and fencing off?
Thank you. The ground gets very soft in the winter and I didn’t want to make ruts by driving equipment around on it . We are about to get back to work on it very soon.
If they wanted it done faster they should have came and helped you, you have worked so hard on building this house, and I’ve noticed you haven’t felt to good at times when you were working, hope your family appreciates your hard work.
Hi brother you can only do one thing at a time You have been building this Homestead by yourself For a long time some people I’ve got no idea if they will stop whingeing and come and give you a hand instead of saying stupid stuff like that cliff from Logan city Queensland Australia

I might be able to do that when I’m finished. I have thought about it.

Are you planning on skirting the house?
Yes we will be skirting with stone or stone veneer .
Damn nice work, what bolts did you use to attach those tree trunks to the stairs?
They are 1/2” lag bolts
Beautiful log cabin and setting!!!
